Everyone has a story about office politics gone wrong. I want to share stories about people who are getting in right. My introductory show was a monologue in which I explained what I do, who I am, who I help, how I help and why I focus on work relationships (office politics). Subsequent shows will be dialogues featuring guests who will share stories about their backgrounds; including how they got started as well as setbacks, successes and guiding principles that helped them succeed as bosses, employees and entrepreneurs. I am a Certified Life Coach who helps leaders manage office politics the “right way”. Office politics is present in most organizations. Like money or other resources, it is neither good nor bad. What matters is how it is used. My show will provide insights, techniques, and strategies that can be used to enhance work relationships and productivity. Bentley and Tiffany Callender, co-owners of Callender Insurance Services. As a student in college, Bentley got an internship with an insurance company. After graduating he worked for a couple of insurance firms. With an appreciable number of years of work experience, he started Bentley Callender Insurance Services. Tiffany got a work permit at 15 years of age and worked as a tamale cart vender. She employed the work ethic her parents instilled in her, because she loved working. She excelled in multiple industries because she is a leader and problem solver. Tiffany was a single mother when she met Bently. K9 Cancer Care

Shlanda Breeden, Ms. National US, Animal Advocate and Community Leader, always loved animals. She was known for bringing in stray cats and dogs as a child. With her support, compassion and family resources the animals were cared for until they were adopted or moved to a reputable shelter. Caring for animals continues to be her passion. She became even more compassionate when one of her dogs contracted cancer. She learned how expensive it was/is to address pet cancer care. She learned that one pill could cost as much as $400. Karl McKenzie, serial entrepreneur, son of a Jamaican immigrant, is one of the most fascinating stories I have heard. His father came to America as a stowaway on a cargo ship during the depression era. Karl learned perseverance from his father, compassion from his mother and discipline from his siblings. However, he didn’t apply those qualities until later in his life. He like some of my previous guests, heard the sound of a different drummer. He learned a lot working for others but was more comfortable working for himself. Excelling with ADHD

George Downey grew up in a small town near Boston, Massachusetts. He had an interest in the military which led him to West Point. While there he acquired his EMS certification. He had an opportunity to become an officer but didn’t feel comfortable commanding soldiers in battle. He dropped out of the Academy and got a job on a cruise ship. During one of the excursions, he encountered an EMS team. As they departed the ship he jokingly asked if they had an opening. They did so he joined the team. After serving in a variety of jobs in locations from Massachusetts to California, he realized he had ADHD. Reflecting on his behavior pattern, he discovered what he enjoyed most: learning new things and teaching it to others.
