Running Her Way Back to Herself | Tiffany Gayle Chenault
2026/09/30
Tiffany Gayle Chenault never considered herself a runner. Running began as a way to move through grief after losing her mother—and eventually became a journey that would take her across all 50 states.
Now, Tiffany returns to Women Empower Active as the published author of Black Woman Runner: A Memoir.
In this episode, we talk about what it was like to enter running culture as a complete beginner, the unexpected lessons she learned along the way, and the moment she finally realized, "I am a runner."
Tiffany also shares what it meant to travel and run across the country as a Black woman, why representation and belonging matter in the running community, and how finding her "running family" helped her reconnect with herself and her father while navigating grief.
From Turkey Trots and bears on Florida trails to running in places she never imagined visiting, Tiffany's journey is about much more than checking 50 states off a list. It's about curiosity, healing, community, and defining what being a runner means on your own terms.
Her message to women is simple: you don't need anyone's permission to move your body, take up space, or call yourself an athlete. There is a community out there where you can be seen, belong, and unapologetically do it your way.

Fear, Focus & Performance with Lynn Barlow
2026/05/27
In this episode of Women Empower Active, Jacalyn sits down with Lynn Barlow, a mental performance coach helping athletes strengthen the one muscle we often overlook: the mind.
Through her work with Mindfullsend, Lynn helps athletes navigate fear, build confidence, and perform under pressure in some of life’s most demanding moments. With a background rooted in outdoor sports and high-risk environments, she understands what it feels like to stand at the edge — where fear and possibility meet — and how powerful it can be to move forward anyway.
But this conversation goes deeper than performance. Today, we get to know the person behind the mindset work: Lynn’s journey, the experiences that shaped her, and the passion that led her to help others unlock their potential.
Because performance isn’t just physical — it’s mental. And when the mind is trained, everything else follows.

If Resilience Had a Workout Plan — with Kristina
2026/02/25
In this episode of Women Empower Active, Jacalyn sits down with Kristina — a fitness professional who truly embodies resilience in motion.
Kristina’s journey into the fitness industry began with rebuilding her own strength after serious injuries early in life, including a broken back and hip surgery before graduating high school. Determined to understand how the body moves, heals, and grows stronger, she turned her recovery into a calling.
Now the founder of KFIT, Kristina has built a studio rooted in one powerful belief: there is no one-size-fits-all approach to movement. Every body carries its own story, and training should honor that. Through personalized coaching and intentional programming, she helps people move better, train smarter, and build strength that lasts.
If resilience had a workout plan, Kristina would be coaching it.
Tune in for a conversation about rebuilding, redefining strength, and finding your own active adventure.

Alita Contreras, Warrior in Motion
2025/11/19
In the high mountains of Colombia, seven women step into the unknown—hands on stone, hearts on fire. Their movement is intentional, their stories carved into every crimp and every breath of thin air. Guerreras: Women Warriors isn’t just a climbing film; it’s a portrait of resilience.
These women carry more than ropes and harnesses. They carry grief, recovery, survival. The weight of expectations. The strength of motherhood. The complexity of identity. Their ascents are physical, yes—but they’re also emotional and cultural breakthroughs.
Among them is Alita, whose journey reveals what resilience looks like in motion. Together, they show how pain becomes purpose, solitude becomes self-trust, and mountains become mirrors of inner strength. Because sometimes the most powerful summits aren’t the ones you reach—they’re the ones that rise within you.

Kelly Fields and the Ascent of Lemnos in the Clouds
2025/10/29
In the vast expanse of the Arctic wilderness—where ice, ocean, and granite meet—four climbers embarked on a 42-day journey that would test every limit, both physical and mental. Among them was Kelly Fields, part of an all-female+ team that traveled across Baffin Island to establish Lemnos in the Clouds, the hardest and longest route ever climbed by a female team in the Canadian Arctic. This expedition was a study in self-reliance, trust, and the strength it takes to navigate both an unforgiving landscape and the complex terrain of identity and belonging. In today’s episode, Kelly shares what it took to lead, suffer, and ultimately succeed on Eglington Tower—and how this climb became a reflection of something far deeper than the summit itself.

A Seat at the Crag: Genevive Walker on Representation in the Outdoors
2025/09/24
On today’s episode, we’re joined by Genevive Walker a climber, guide, writer, and advocate who turned a love for climbing into a mission for change. After years of living out of her car and climbing around the world, she noticed a lack of representation in the outdoor community. That realization became the spark for a much larger purpose. She’s since partnered with brands like National Geographic, The North Face, and Brown Girls Climb to amplify underrepresented voices. Through retreats and international guiding, she helps women and climbers of color build confidence and community in the outdoors. Her platform is about more than just climbing—it’s about access, visibility, and belonging.
