Building Emotional Intelligence in Your Children
2022/06/27
Hear Mai lead Katie and Stacy in a conversation about the benefits of showing a healthy range of emotions in front of their children. Learn a little about the theory behind nurturing your children’s developing mind, as described in the book The Whole Brain Child. The girls talk specific strategies on how they’ve encouraged their children to have and feel emotions. This conversation is also punctuated with important discussions on why black and other marginalized communities have had more challenging considerations that may have caused a delay in focusing on emotional-centered parenting.
Let’s Talk Therapy
2022/06/10
Hear the girls talk about their journeys and experiences with therapy, how each of them experienced acceptance or hesitancy of therapy growing up, and how a natural fear of judgment is healthy and normal. Katie spends some time talking about EMDR, while Stacy dives deeper into misconceptions about therapy. https://www.betterhelp.com Www.Psychologytoday.com www.Teladoc.com https://www.emdria.org
Processing the Uvalde Tragedy
2022/05/31
The second you hear the word Uvalde, a slew of strong and complex emotions rush in. For us, this mass shooting hit harder as all 3 of us are Mothers of young children. Each of us share individually how this event has and is currently impacting us. We wanted to provide the space to unpack and process what we are navigating mentally. We also discuss where we each are going to individually start to reconcile these challenging feelings, and potentially how we can impact the state of our country in a positive way. Thank you for listening and sharing this vulnerable and hard conversation with us.
What’s the “Points Game?”
2022/05/13
Listen to the QUEEN of points and miles herself, Nancy Rachatanavin, talk about the benefits and challenges of getting in to the “points game.” In the personal finance space, you may have also heard this referred to as travel hacking. Nancy gives great advice on how to carefully begin a strategy for earning points and miles that will help offset your future travel costs. She’s traveled the world for more than a decade, using very little of her own money for flight and hotel costs. The number one rule? Make sure you pay you credit card balance off in full. Every. Single. Month. www.thepointsguy.com www.boardingarea.com
Comparison Trap
2022/04/29
You’ve probably heard comparison is the thief of joy, because it truly is! On this episode we discuss specifically how we have compared ourselves to other moms and how that can create a sense of failure. Social media can also exacerbate this comparison dilemma even further if we aren’t intentional around our thinking when it comes to others. (Check out last week’s Social Media Episode if you haven’t already!) Your journey is unique and you bring your own gifts, talents and style to whatever it is that is on your life journey. Shine bright just the way you are and find the beauty in the unique approach you have to life. Social Media
2022/04/15
This one almost wasn’t published! Katie, Stacy, and Mai have different views on the harm and benefits of social media and how to deal with them. Using the Netflix documentary, The Social Dilemma, as the back drop, Fem Collective talks about advantages and pitfalls of social media, how to check yourself and your motivation as you move through platforms, and what’s being done more broadly to limit the negative impacts of social media on the broader culture. Redemption Road
