Advertise on podcast: The Spiritual and Political Podcast

I've been invited to host a realtime audio show on the phone app Clubhouse. If you are on Clubhouse or join it, you can listen in or ask to participate in the conversation. Look for me by my name or for the room named Political Dharma. (Yeah, I've gone back to that because it is unique and I already had a logo I can use.)

I don't intend to do any more videos for this channel, so I am saying farewell. There is some info in it about how to continue to follow what I am up to if you want to.

I talk about my journey in understanding the relation between doing social justice work and following Jesus.Check out my website/blog exploring the historical Jesus:www.JesusReconstructed.com

01:12: How to upgrade California's crazy primary elections:https://www.upgradetopotwo.org08:45: Alan interviewed on Silent Republic channelhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZzVF2gFXsA10:53: Update on court case of Green Party's Butch Ware

Dr. Butch Ware, the Green Party candidate for governor in California, has lost his appeal in his case against the CA Secretary of State for removing him from the ballot for manufactured reasons. He vows to fight this at higher levels.

00:00: Introduction to episode02:18: How Top-Two works and why its a problem02:55: News on the CA Governor's race08:52: News on the court case vs. Top-Two

More on what I am finding and thinking as I explore contemporary scholarship about the resurrection of Jesus. What to make of Paul's list of appearances of the risen Christ? Did women disciples really find Jesus' tomb empty on Easter morning?

Butch Ware has been removed from the CA ballot by the CA Secretary of State's office. I explain California's odd top-two voting system, the problems Democrats are having with it, and Ware's struggle to remain on the ballot. I draw conclusions from all of this about what happened behind the scenes and why alternative parties should prioritize voting method reforms over seeking ballot access or running candidates for higher office.

There have been three eras of Christianity since the time of the original disciples: the early churches, the state-backed religion, and the Protestant Reformation. I explain the beginnings of a new era, characterized by the effects of Biblical scholarship, the desire for a direct experiential spirituality, and encounters with other religions.

I comment on two stories: military commanders exult that the war on Iran is the "Apocalypse" heralding the return of Jesus, & progressive Christian politician James Talarico wins the Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate seat in Texas.

A look at how Mike Duggan, independent candidate for governor of Michigan, and Butch Ware, Green Party candidate for governor of California, are doing in their races so far. Also: update on the court case against CA's Top-Two voting system; update on Economic Rights Party.

I discuss my current project of organizing an Economic Rights Party. The central principles are:1) management of large business corporations should be elected by and accountable to the workers2) every legal resident should have a guaranteed basic income.

I've been looking into Paul's early account of the resurrection appearances of Jesus and what scholars have had to say about it. What I am learning is changing my mind!

What I've been working on--instead of a new video!

Mike Wright released a video two weeks ago and a new one two days ago, each exposing frauds among Christian leaders and both which were covered up by major figures in the charismatic movement/Christian right. I go into the charges, the response by leaders of the Bethel Church, and my take on all of this.
