Buddy Young (Steel City Ruins/Old Enemy/DB Amplification)
2023/09/12
Musician and craftsman Buddy Young stops by to talk about infusing history into music, his hand-built guitar amplifiers, and so much more. I first met Buddy back when I was hosting my music show on 92.5 StokeFM, and he was promoting "One", the first full-length record from his band Steel City Ruins
Kinell (Battle Rapper & Host of "Kinell's Sinister Cinema")
2022/05/12
This one's a corker. Kinell is a hilarious UK-based battle rapper/horror podcaster and our conversation goes all over the place, from his time as a drum and bass DJ, to dancing to the Banana Boat song on acid in a Minnesota basement, to the filmography of director Albert Pyun and how QAnon took all the fun out of conspiracy theories.

Jerry Smith (Rainy Days For Ghosts)
2022/04/28
Jerry Smith is a film journalist and composer who specializes in moody, downtempo synth and we had a great talk about how our tastes in horror have mellowed with age, relationship lessons learned from the film "Jakob's Wife", and of course, his terrific new EP "Rescore", in which he re-imagines musical cues from some of the horror greats.

The Adams Family (Directors: "Hellbender")
2022/04/14
What's it like to stand in the path of a hurricane? On their latest release, the extraordinary horror film "Hellbender", indie directors Toby Poser & John Adams of Wonder Wheel Productions explore what it's like to deny your true nature, when your true nature is destruction, and join me to talk about not only that, but the cross-country road trip during which the film was shot, and so much more.

Andrew Pyper & Steve Stred (Horror Novelists)
2022/03/31
This episode you get two generations of Canadian horror novelists for the price of one. Andrew Pyper is the award-winning author of 10 novels, including "The Residence" (recently adapted into the DiscoveryPlus series "Demon in the White House") and "The Demonologist." His latest work is "Oracle", an Audible Original narrated by actor Joshua Jackson.
Steve Stred is the author of a number of novels and novellas, including the "Father of Lies" series, "Wagon Buddy", and the brand-new wilderness survival tale "Mastodon." He is a proud co-founder of the Ladies of Horror Fiction Writer’s Grant and an Active Member of the HWA.
Both men are deeply committed to research and this has led them to some fascinating and, in some cases, gruesome discoveries, so this is the only episode of "Largely the Truth" thus far to come with a content warning - if you're squeamish, listen cautiously.

Aish Divine
2022/02/17
Aish Divine is a visionary composer and musician whose path first crossed with mine 14 years ago in the deserts of Morocco. On this episode, we continue that long-ago conversation about life, faith, and sexuality before detouring into his solo albums - 2018's "Mother" and the brand-new "The Sex Issue." The NYC-based artist holds nothing back in talking about the pain of separation, the challenges of running an indie record label, and so much more.

Tara Sariban (Host: "World's Dumbest Criminals")
2022/02/03
The first Largely the Truth of 2022 is here and with it comes the only interview befitting such an occasion. Tara Sariban, host of the podcast "World's Dumbest Criminals" and apparently my wonder twin, joins me to talk about the nuts and bolts of indie podcasting. Since joining the podcast world in 2017 with "Bloody Murder", Tara has learned first-hand what it's like to be the face of a massively successful true crime show and shares that experience with us, both the good and the bad.

Andrea Janes (Founder: Boroughs of the Dead)
2021/12/16
Did you know a Canadian owns and operates New York City's best ghost tour company? Now you do, and on this week's episode Andrea Janes tells us how that came to be. Our conversation goes from the dark corners of NYC's history to Canadian Gothic to responsible ghost stories and so much more, ending with what I can only hope is the first salvo in the Great Goulash War™

Briana Morgan (Author: "Mouth Full of Ashes")
2021/12/09
This week we return to the horror genre with Briana Morgan, author of "Mouth Full of Ashes", a story of teenage love and vampirism set against the backdrop of a fading seaside town. In addition to "Ashes" we talk about her short story anthology, "The Tricker-Treater and Other Stories", sleep paralysis, the annoying efficacy of TikTok, and so much more.

Jaimie Sherling (Author: "From Queens to Queens")
2021/11/25
One of the few things we can count in life is adversity, and possibly the greatest measure of our character is how we handle it when it finally comes. For Jaimie Sherling, author of "From Queens to Queens: How the Madison Drag Community Saved My Life", that adversity came in the form of an aggressive breast cancer diagnosis amid a rapidly crumbling marriage, and this week on the show, Jaimie sits down with me to share her story.
