#2 - Social media is being censored. Bluesky will change that
2021/08/31
In 2011, a fruit vendor lit himself on fire, and started a revolution. One that spread through Twitter, Facebook, and Youtube. This helped liberate millions of people from authoritarian governments.
But today, just 10 years later, the same social media companies have turned to censoring content, to solve the problems that platforms are facing. This is threatening free speech and democracy - but decentralization and open protocols can help here.
On this episode we explore the complex topics of politics, censorship, and how Twitter funding a decentralized social media platform called Bluesky might help.

#1 - How the world got Bitcoin: Cypherpunks, privacy, and the 2008 recession
2021/07/28
Crypto Principles is the first podcast aimed at telling stories of the people and movement behind cryptocurrency. If you've heard about crypto on the news, tried learning about what blockchain is, but still aren't sure if you want invest, it's because it hasn't clicked for you. This podcast is for you.
At its core, crypto has deep human values in its DNA: autonomy, freedom, privacy. We'll explore those values as it relates to crypto, and dive deep into the history and utility of the technology. At the end, you might just find yourself joining movement.
On this first episode, we go on a journey to the early 90s, where computer scientists experimented and theorized about their new toy: the internet. This is where the history of cryptocurrency really started, with the cypherpunk movement and their manifesto. We explore the core ethos and principles that the cypherpunks stood for: privacy and freedom. We'll explore how their principles impacted the internet, how it led to cryptocurrency a few decades later, and where Bitcoin and crypto is taking us.
Join me as we dive into the real history of cryptocurrency.

Crypto Principles Trailer
2021/07/28
Welcome to the Crypto Principles podcast. Im your host, Rehman Ata - My interest in crypto started in 2017 and it’s had a presence in my life since, whether its investing, learning or sharing what I know about crypto with friends and family.
After having many conversations with people - people who are pro crypto, against crypto, or just don’t understand it - I’ve learned that explaining the technicals of Bitcoin or the Blockchain is not the way to get people interested. It’s relevant, but that comes later. First, you have to make it “click” for people. How do you that?
After reflecting on my own journey on how I got interested, and my through experiences at the Bitcoin conference in Miami, I believe I have the answer. And that’s what the Crypto Principles podcast is.
Over the next few months, we’ll dive into the humans, the principles, and the ethos of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. Why this space matters for everyone, why the world needs cryptocurrencies and the blockchain, and how this technology will transform everything about the way we live - gradually at first, and then all of sudden as if there was no other way before - just like the internet did.
I’m your host Rehman Ata, and i’m excited to have you on this journey.
