After the Hunt is a mixed bag of a movie; it has excellent visuals and a great cast, but it struggles to process its ideas. Fresh Out of The Theater - After The Hunt Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/sellout. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Dumb fun. That's the best way to describe this. It's best to not take this too seriously, but Argylle is sure to keep you entertained. It's entertaining enough, but it's an ineffective thriller. It's a big idea with no where to go and no one to guide it. Without a competent and talented cast, lead by Ariana DeBose, I'm don't think this would be good at all. What should have been an easy blockbuster hit has turned into one of the saddest box office cases of 2023. "The Color Purple" made $18.1 Million on its Christmas Day opening, but it's projected to lose between $80 million and $100 million, and to make matters worse the industry isn't taking the "Oscar bait." What happened? Why did a movie with a seal of approval from Stephen Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey tank so quickly? Hopefully, this is a lesson learned for big studios: Stop spending four-quadrant money on one-quadrant movies. Not a terrible start to the new year, but not the best. It's an elementary attempt at the horror genre, but it's entertaining enough. We've seen it before, but most of us don't mind seeing it again. Wonka is the movie no one asked for, but it's the family film we've been begging for. It's pure, family-friendly entertainment, a movie that adults and children can enjoy. I don't know if it's because it's an international film and we (Americans) are considered a foreign market or if Japanese studios think Americans won't enjoy it, but the noise surrounding this movie is too quiet and it's not getting the marketing it deserves. It's excellent! By far, it's the best Godzilla movie I've seen. While it's a little clumsy and clunky, "The Shift," a motion picture interpretation of the Book of Job, is a great debut for director Brock Heasley Trailer: https://youtu.be/Tl7rtMiOrvY?si=OdfbWAXILWjCHobk Follow Me On: TikTok @thisissavvy Instagram @alrightletstalkaboutit Twitter @thisissavvy1 Criticless https://bit.ly/45D7kGQ Advertisement/Business Inquiries: [email protected] SUPPORT THIS PODCAST Subscribe To My Substack: https://thisissavvy.substack.com/ Venmo/CashApp/Paypal: thisissavvy Request a Custom Video from Me: https://link.shoutout.fans/SavannahEdwards Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/sellout. The more I think about it, the angrier I get. If the point was to commemorate and celebrate 100 years of Disney, I expected better. The plot is weak, the protagonist is unlikeable and the sidekick goat is obnoxious. Disney is stuck in an identity and culture crisis and I'm praying they find their way out. What an interesting choice to give us a protagonist we already hate, forcing us to question the limits of our capacity for compassion and empathy. The Hunger Games prequel is a bit rushed, but it's expertly cast and beautifully designed. Let's take a look at a few of the main themes from Gary Ross's "The Hunger Games" as we prepare ourselves for the prequel. "Journey to Bethlehem" is an interesting directorial debut. The music is good and the dancing is questionable, but the "re-writing" of the nativity story is distracting. Seeing more Christian films on the big screen is nice, but I don't know if this film is helpful. "The Marvels" is fun trash. It's entertaining, goofy, and the opposite of serious, but it's well below normal Marvel expectations. With a weak story, weak plot, and a forgettable villain this movie serves to fill the gaps rather than stand on its own. Brie Larson's Carol Danvers is supposed to be the draw, but newcomer Iman Vellani's performance saves this film from being a flat, heartless mess. Happy "The Marvels" Week...or not. This seems to be the most anticipated movie of the year with presales trailing behind box office bombs such as "The Flash" and "Black Adam." Yes, the SAG Strike is still happening, but Marvel should be able to see itself. The fanfare should produce enough word of mouth to guarantee a slam dunk, but this might be a cinematic airball. Before stepping into new adventures with Carol Danvers, Kamala Kahn, and Monica Rambeau, let's see what went well with "Captain Marvel" and what could go wrong here. There's a stoic beauty about this that makes sense, probably because it's Priscilla Presley. It's a quiet, understated, portrait of a movie that gives us a story we've heard before but from a different perspective.
