DGAF RERUN: ‘Small Hinges Move Big Doors,’ unpacking co-dependency and boundaries with life coach Susie Pettit.
2023/10/01
In RERUN episode #103, Mel and Trish were excited to sit down with life coach Susie Pettit to discuss people pleasing and co-dependency - what it is, how it shows up in midlife and how to deal with it. The more the girls chatted with Susie, the more ah-ha moments there were as they identified what was happening in their own lives. But the good stuff doesn’t end there. The chat then moved onto boundaries or guidelines as Susie calls them. What are they, how to deal with push-back and how are we getting them so wrong? Susie Pettit is an educator, certified Parent, Life and Wellness Coach and the mum of five sons ranging in age from 8-26. She is the host of the ‘Love Your Life Show’ podcast. She runs a monthly membership for Midlife Warriors and is the owner of Strength: Mind and Body. This is a big episode content-wise because Susie doesn't just talk the talk but really has walked the walk. She’s an incredible woman with a powerful story and at all times, has demonstrated great resilience which she now shares through her work. Enjoy the dynamic Susie Pettit. DGAF RERUN: ‘Happy, Healthy You,’ conversations about midlife with Lisa Curry
2023/09/10
This RERUN was from episode #77 and in this episode Mel and Trish sit down with their long-term friend Lisa Curry to chat about, among other things, life, business, and hormones. Although Lisa is well known for her sporting achievements, television appearances and involvement on the speaking circuit, many don’t realise she is also a successful businesswoman. In 2015, Lisa established Happy Healthy You, an Australian-based health and lifestyle company with women’s hormonal specialist and Naturopath, Jeff Butterworth.  Although the girls have never wanted to hyper-focus on hormones, in the end, it’s an unavoidable topic for midlife women. The impact of the modern lifestyle often leads to poor sleep, low energy, hormonal mood swings, poor immunity, dull skin, and unhappy gut health. The awareness of these extensive issues led to Lisa and Jeff developing a suite of high-quality products, programs and recipes supported by an experience team of natural practitioners. There is also an impressively large community-based support group, all found in their one-stop-shop online business. As Lisa says, “its important our bodies are working for us, not against us.” Of course, with such a long history of friendship, there is also a lot of laughs, reminiscing and tearful moments.  Enjoy this super-charged chat with Lisa Curry. Following on from an early episode in the ‘Don’t Give a Fifty’ back catalogue, episode #98 saw Mel & Trish in the studio with Trish’s nieces Matilda, Baillie and Mollie and her children, Lily and Wiley for a fun, educational chat about talking to our younger generations. From the outset, this is an ultra-dynamic episode with the gang from Gen Y & Z putting Mel and Trish through their generational paces. There are quizzes, lots of banter, a confession that we Gen X’ers know a thing or two, and you will learn a new meaning for the name ‘Barbara.’ Enjoy! Hosted on Acast. ‘All in a Day’s Work - The Extraordinary in the Ordinary: Getting to Know our Tribe,’ with Critical Care Paramedic, Linda Down and Senior Fire Fighter, Kirsty Holmes.
2023/08/27
In episode #98, Mel & Trish invited their 50isher friends Linda Dow and Kirsty Holmes into the studio to chat about the significant role they play in saving lives as a critical care paramedic and senior fire fighter. The magic lies in the fact these two ultra-humble women, don’t see anything remarkable about what they do for a living. For Kirsty and Linda, it’s all in a day’s work. Mel & Trish, however, beg to differ, and as the conversation unfolds, it becomes obvious that they are, in fact, very extraordinary and rather than slipping under the radar as anonymous ‘ambos’ and ‘firies’, should be acknowledged, and celebrated. Enjoy these two exceptional women. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Soul Enlightenment with Spiritual Response Therapy Practitioner, Elizabeth Grant.
2023/08/20
Hold onto your hats because for their #97th episode, Mel and Trish lean right into the woo woo, when they hook up online to County Laois, in Ireland to chat to the truly incredible Elizabeth Grant about soul enlightenment. From a young age, Elizabeth felt different and connected in some way to a higher source. Fast forward to adulthood and having fallen very ill following the birth of her second child, Elizabeth’s doctors were unable to determine what was wrong with her. In a final act of desperation, she turned to spiritual healing, and this single act, changed her live forever. She went on to complete studies in Reiki, Integrated Energy Therapy, Massage, Reflexology, BioGeometry and Body Talk then in 2009, added Spiritual Response Therapy (SRT) to her list of accreditations. The girls learn about spiritual committees and the role they play in the process of clearing. They talk about healing and past lives. As Elizabeth says, “the body is the vehicle of the soul, and nothing can block healing if you really believe.” Elizabeth may clear and heal people’s souls, but she also has an enormous heart. Enjoy the very enlightened Elizabeth Grant. Important Links: Elizabeth's Instagram Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

‘Just The Two of Us:’ A Trip to Greece & a Walk on the Beach
2023/08/13
In episode #96, Mel & Trish catch up on what’s been going on in their lives over the past few weeks. For Trish and her husband Gordo, this included an amazing trip to the islands of Greece and Istanbul and for Mel this involved not much, apart from a 20km twilight beach walk to raise money for the Heart Foundation, Australia.  There’s a couple of ‘F’ bombs, an obscure reference to something quite naughty and as always, plenty of laughs. Enjoy! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

‘Turn the Light On,’ stepping back into your personal spotlight with makeup artist Amanda Ramsay.
2023/08/06
In episode #95 Mel and Trish were back on the Gold Coast to chat to multi-award-winning makeup artist Amanda Ramsay about how a simple, yet effective makeup routine can help turn the light back on in our lives at a time when we can feel most invisible. Having worked as a professional makeup artist for many years, 40-year-old Amanda found herself with a newborn baby and feeling invisible and overlooked. This combined with the constant product advice needed by her friendship group, prompted her to set up her own business. She now specialises in makeup and skincare for women over 40 and runs online masterclasses which covers everything you need to know about makeup and skin care for mature skin. Just as we change our fashion through the different chapters of our lives, Amanda believes we need to do the same with makeup and skin care in terms of products and colours. Amanda is a nurturer at heart, debunks a lot of beauty myths (shimmery shadow days are NOT over!), believes in an efficient 5–10-minute daily routine, and loves watching the light switch back on for women. As she says, “It’s easy, just simplify the steps to amplify the look,” and we love that for us. Enjoy the beautiful Amanda Ramsay. ‘Fall in Love with the Hustle:’ A chat with the mother/daughter team behind Motto Fashions, Faye Browne and Lauren French.
2023/07/23
In episode #93, Mel and Trish were excited to jump online to the Melbourne-based mother/daughter team behind Motto Fashions, Faye Browne and Lauren French.  This dynamic pair live and breathe both their business and fashion. Never ones to shy away from hard work, they oversee every aspect of their business from design to e-commerce and marketing. They also believe, unequivocally, in the power of fashion to change lives - in its ability to affect mood and energy. For Lauren and Faye, fashion is not about the superficial but about confidence, expression and commanding the room. Being fashion-lovers themselves, Mel and Trish were keen to tap into the energy of these two extraordinary women and learn more about how they make it all work. And their favourite time of day?...1pm weekdays when they go live on social platforms to play with fashion, talk about what’s new and most importantly, have fun. These girls seriously love the hustle and are an absolute hoot. Enjoy! Important Links: Motto Fashions Website Motto Fashions Instagram Motto Fashions Facebook Motto Fashions Tiktok Hosted on Acast. ‘Consistent, Imperfect Action:’ a better approach to diet and exercise with health coach Kitty Bloomfield.
2023/07/16
In episode #92, Mel and Trish headed to the Gold Coast to chat with ultra-dynamic, Kitty Bloomfield - kick ass health coach, businesswoman, podcaster and entrepreneur. Kitty is the co-founder of Nustrength, an online nutrition and training platform that helps women transform their bodies through improved metabolic functioning and strength training.  Until 2015, Kitty spent most of her adult life stuck in a cycle of dieting and overtraining. She was obsessed with food and was happiest when she was thin but had to starve and overtrain herself to get there. That changed when she met her now business partner Craig, nutritionist Emma Sgourakis, and discovered the work of Ray Peat. Having achieved a complete diet and exercise overhaul herself, it’s now her mission to free other women from restrictive diets, help them restore their metabolisms, balance their hormones, and build bodies they love. And if that’s not enough, she and Emma recently launched Saturee, a clean skincare and food supplements range and in her spare time, she hosts a red-hot podcast, ‘Weightloss for Women: Eat More, Train Less Get Results.’ Kitty is shouting her mission to the world and we are listening. This is a no-holds-barred conversation so hold onto your hats 50ishers. Enjoy! Important Links: Nustrength Website Kitty's Instagram Podcast Link Kitty Bloomfield YouTube Hosted on Acast.
