2026/10/14
This week we’re talking about The Social Reckoning, the follow-up to The Social Network. We get into whether this movie needed to exist, how much David Fincher’s absence is felt, what worked in the second half, and why parts of the movie felt more like a presentation than a story. We also talk about the Facebook/Meta angle, the “show, don’t tell” problem, Bill Burr bringing some much-needed energy, and whether we actually liked the movie by the end of the conversation.00:00 – Welcome to The Social Reckoning01:10 – General Thoughts13:21 – Family Meeting27:01 – Deep Dive Begins31:00 – The Opening Scene and the Movie’s Tone32:53 – Francis, Jeff, and the Show-Don’t-Tell Problem48:04 – Did We Actually Like This Movie?58:35 – Facebook, Free Speech, and the Bigger Message01:11:01 – The Filmmies01:23:47 – Best Scene, MVP, and Final ThoughtsTik Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@the.film.room.podInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/thefilmroompod/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@TheFilmRoomPodSpotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/51C3RqxhElYCUyJ0zMVhnO

2026/10/07
Digger is one of those movies where you finish watching and immediately want to ask someone, “Okay… what did you think of that?” In this episode, we get into why this movie is so hard to explain, why the reactions have been all over the place, and Tom Cruise not being the action movie guy. We talk about the weird comedy, the big swing the movie takes, the twist that changed how we saw everything, and why we ended up liking it way more than we expected. Why don't you have a seat right there and take a listen to this episode all about the newest film starring Robert Pattinson as Chris Hansen. This genre bending piece from Lance Oppenheim takes the real life events of the very weird phenomenon of "To Catch a Predator" and brings some chilling dramatic aspects to it. This movie takes a big swing on its visuals, storytelling, and subject matter which leads to a split in our opinions. We get into those differing opinions and why things worked or didn't, Skylar Gisondo's surprising performance, what song the first creep actually should've been playing in the car, and much more! The Sheep Detectives
2026/07/08
This week we're banding together to solve the mysterious murder of our beloved shepherd as we dive into this new comedy mystery. A film that we both initially had little interest in, has gotten a lot of positive word of mouth so we decide to check it out. A surprisingly loaded cast of voice actors including Bryan Cranston, Patrick Stewart, Regina Hall, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus bring so much charm to this story. We talk about the amazing blend of complicated mystery and light fun, our favourite versions of Hugh Jackman performances, the unexpected heavy emotion the film delivers, and so much more. Tap in for a fun conversation between us, Deion & Scott, because every podcaster should have a name.
