Amy Lamé is an American-British writer, performer, TV and radio presenter known for her one-woman shows, her performance group Duckie, and LGBT-themed media works. David Walsh is the Entrepreneur in Residence at our Entrepreneurship Institute. He is a King’s alumnus (Human Environmental Science/Natural Sciences), leading entrepreneur, investor, technologist and founder and former CEO of KPMG Crimsonwing. After working at IBM, David founded Crimsonwing in 1996. The tech business made progress without capital or loans and built a solution centre in Malta in 1998 – virtually founding the IT industry there. The Biomedical Engineering students Nitya Dintakurti and Shreya Kalyanasundaram developed a novel wearable medical device, CoolZEN. CoolZEN is a non-invasive, wearable medical device for menopausal women suffering from hot flashes, which automatically detects the onset of a hot flash and leverages a natural physiological response to bring relief. It provides a solution to a problem where there are very few non-pharmaceutical solutions. Ria Walia holds a BSc (Hons) Mathematics with Management and Finance from King’s College London, University of London. She has completed over 15 internships including Summer Trading Analyst (FX Options Structuring) at HSBC, Assurance at EY and Finance Analyst at Procter & Gamble. Ms Walia founded her first start-up at 17, raising and managing $100,000 of investment and organising 222 exhibition days at venues such as the Tate Modern and The British Museum. She was invited to the House of Lords for her start-up idea and named ‘Top 10 Student Start-up of the Year’ by Enterprise Nation. She has been awarded ‘Young Entrepreneur’ at the Youth Awards and named the 14th most influential student in the UK. In her spare time, Ria runs a Blog, Instagram Page and YouTube Channel, sharing her experiences in the hope to help and support other students with early careers and entrepreneurship.
