Description
What Is? was founded by Annabel Dominguez, a high school senior who is passionate about politics. While researching for a project, Annabel realized the U.S. had much legislation not many people knew about that would significantly impact the U.S. and other foreign nations. She also realized that other events were happening around the world that news outlets were not sharing. What Is? was created to give a platform for legislation and worldwide events that are taking place. What Is? aims to explain legislation and world events creatively.

Ep2: The Federal-Aid Highway Act
2021/09/06
The Federal Aid Highway Act of 1956, popularly known as the National Interstate and Defense Highways Act, was enacted on June 29, 1956, when President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed the bill into law. The Federal-Aid Highway Act is an act to amend and supplement the Federal Aid Road Act approved July 11, 1956, to authorize appropriations for continuing the construction of highways; to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1954 to provide additional revenue from taxes on motor fuel, tires, and trucks and buses; and for other purposes.
Ep1: The Crown Act
2021/09/01
In my very first podcast, I will discuss The Crown Act (SB 188). This California law prohibits discrimination based on hairstyle and hair texture by extending protection for both categories under the FEHA and the California Education Code. First introduced in California in January 2019 and signed into law on July 3, 2019, the inaugural CROWN Act expanded the definition of race in the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA) and state Education Code to ensure protection in workplaces and K-12 public and charter schools. Since then, The CROWN Act has energized a massive amount of support from federal and state legislators in the movement to end hair discrimination nationwide.
