New Notion Features That Have Dropped This Year (2025-2026): The Full Year Rundown
2026/09/29
Notion shipped roughly 25 major updates in the last year, and most of us caught about three of them. In this episode I run through everything that's actually launched since September 2025: the Agent rebuild that turned Notion AI into a real multi-step coworkerthe interface overhaul that gave us Dashboards and Tabs (the same two features from my upcoming "Features I'm Loving" episode)the new automation layer with Workers and Plan Modea stack of smaller releases worth knowing about. No hype, no "implement all of this now" pressure, just the real rundown so you're not finding out about a feature eight months late. Follow the show, I'll do this again in about six months. Note: Hindsight is 20/20 and I did forget to mention a couple in this rundown, but the blog I wrote here is comprehensive.
Boundaries Weren't the Problem. Skipping the Vetting Was.
2026/09/22
I joined a networking group for a full year on the spot because they waived the sign-up fee. Sounds small. It wasn’t. I went to four meetings… and then my body started voting “no” every week, while my brain kept calling it “busy.” Then I got pulled back in by something that felt wholesome: wine on a rooftop, a Seahawks game, and genuine friendship with the people who ran the group. I said yes to “help” and give feedback—and watched that feedback get waved off and repackaged into a pitch. If you’ve ever stayed in the wrong room because you like the people, already paid, or don’t want to be the difficult one—this episode is your mirror. This is the follow-up to “The Hidden Cost of Being the Flexible One”. And if you want the system for catching these reads sooner, Burnout-Proof Business Bootcamp is still live and the replays close on the 30th!
What Actually Replaces Overworking: Burnout Recovery for High-Achievers
2026/09/15
"Just rest more" has never actually worked for you, and it has nothing to do with being bad at resting. Overworking is doing a real job for you (certainty, control, proof of your worth), and rest fails the second it removes the activity without replacing that job. In this episode, I walk through the mechanism that actually works: naming what overworking is really giving you, then building one small, non-negotiable practice that delivers the same feeling for a fraction of the cost. That's the difference between rest that sticks and rest that turns into more guilt. Follow the show, and if you want the business-side version of this fix, the Burnout-Proof Business Bootcamp is live now through September 23rd. Catch the replay link in the show notes.
The System That Finally Works for a Scattered Brain: ADHD-Friendly Systems for Entrepreneurs
2026/09/08
If your brain can turn a five-minute task into a three-hour spiral, you do not have a discipline problem. You have a system that is missing edges. In this episode, I break down the four leak points that make ADHD founders feel behind even when they are working their asses off: time blindness, task amnesia, working-memory drop-off, and the transition tax. Then I give you simple, ADHD-friendly ways to design around each one so your days stop disappearing. The older ADHD episode here. Follow the show, and if this is the kind of fix you need at the business level too, registration is open now for the Burnout-Proof Business Bootcamp, live September 14th.
What Happens When You Trust the System (and It Still Breaks): Sustainable Systems for Founders
2026/09/01
You did the responsible thing — you built the system, you trusted the process — and it still broke. If your first instinct is to scrap everything and start from scratch, this episode is here to stop you. I'm walking through the three-question diagnostic I use with clients before we ever talk about rebuilding: did the system fail, or did an input into it fail? Is this a pattern or a one-off? And what's the smallest fix that actually solves it? Because most "broken systems" aren't broken — they're just telling you exactly where the crack is. Follow the show so you don't miss what's coming — including a first look at the Burnout-Proof Business Bootcamp, live September 14th.
Trust your SYSTEM to Trust Yourself...
2026/08/25
If you’ve been telling yourself “I don’t trust myself,” this might be the plot twist: it’s not always a mindset issue—it’s evidence. Specifically, the evidence your systems keep handing your brain when you can’t find things, your dashboard is out of date, or your setup only works for the version of you who’s rested, hydrated, and emotionally regulated. In this episode, we’re reframing self trust systems as an infrastructure problem: how your backend can either reinforce burnout and executive function overload—or rebuild confidence by making your life findable and your decisions easier. We’ll cover: findability trust (can you find the thing?)truth trust (is your system accurate?)fit trust (was it built for real-you?)judgment trust (does it help you decide?). I’ll also share a practical re-entry ramp so a “bad week” doesn’t reset you to zero.Follow The Burnout-Proof Podcast—and if your business is still stored in your brain, come to The Burnout-Proof Business Bootcamp at coachellyn.com/bootcamp. Organization for Founders: Why You Keep "Getting Organized" But Never FEEL Organized
2026/08/18
You know the high of a reset: the new planner, the fresh Notion dashboard, the tiny belief that this time you’ll become “the organized one.” And then the reset energy wears off… and you’re right back where you started. If getting organized keeps failing you, the problem probably isn’t your willpower—or the tool. It’s the target. Join the Bootcamp here: https://www.coachellyn.com/bootcamp Get the NEW Private Podcast here In this episode, we’re replacing “getting organized” with a better goal: building a system that still works when you’re tired, busy, behind, and your brain is holding seven open loops. We’ll talk about why organizing can become productive-adjacent (it feels good, but doesn’t fix the behavior), why “Sunday systems” collapse on a Tuesday, and the questions that actually diagnose what’s breaking: what falls apart first, what you’re asking yourself to remember, and what needs a default instead of another decision. Reply, DM, or comment with the thing you keep trying to organize that still doesn’t actually feel handled.
Why Rest Feels Like Work When You’re Burned Out
2026/08/11
You have the time to rest… but the minute you do, your brain starts building a case against you. One low-output week and suddenly it’s not “I’m tired,” it’s “I’m lazy,” “I’m behind,” “I can’t be trusted with freedom.” And check out the essay I DID write about Crimes against Ambition here. In this episode, we talk about the sneaky reason rest isn’t actually restoring you: a lot of what you call rest still has a job. Walks turn into strategy sessions. Journaling turns into a forensic investigation. Reading turns into content mining. Even your “quiet mornings” become mental labor. You’ll learn how to spot the difference between recovery and productive distraction, why high-capacity people put rest on trial, and the one question that cuts through the shame spiral: What do I call rest that still makes my brain perform? When You Feel Too Scattered to Explain What You Do
2026/08/04
If you’ve ever looked at the full list of who you are, what you do, what you care about, and what you’re good at — then immediately thought, “Oh god, this is too much” — this episode is for you. A lot of high-capacity founders are told to pick a lane, niche down, simplify, focus, and make themselves easier to explain. And sometimes, yes, doing too much is the problem. But sometimes the real issue is not that you have too many pieces. It’s that you haven’t mapped how those pieces connect. In this episode, Ellyn breaks down why complexity is not the same thing as confusion, why “pick a lane” can become lazy advice, and how to use the roots, branches, fruit, soil, and seasons framework to understand what actually feeds your work. You’ll learn how to spot the difference between being scattered and being unmapped, why cutting before mapping can remove the parts that make your work alive, and how to find the throughline before you flatten yourself into something more palatable. Follow the show for more sustainable performance, business clarity, and systems that can hold your ambition without making you the whole damn machine.Join the email list here. When Someone Else’s Strategy Makes You Doubt Your Own...
2026/07/27
Sometimes the problem is not that you need a better strategy. Sometimes the problem is that you’re using someone else’s proof to avoid diagnosing your own friction. In this episode, Ellyn unpacks the difference between real inspiration and borrowed certainty — the pattern where you see someone else’s content, offer, dashboard, routine, launch, body, business, or confidence and immediately start questioning your own. This is not a “never learn from people” episode. This is about learning without abandoning your own data. Resources and links: The email list here. The NEW Community here. The FREE Friction Audit here. Key takeaways Borrowed certainty happens when someone else’s proof replaces your own data.Inspiration gives language to something your own game film already supports.High-capacity founders are especially vulnerable because they can execute quickly — even around the wrong problem.A prettier Notion dashboard, new offer name, stricter routine, or rebuilt content plan will not fix a misdiagnosis. Before you change the whole thing, run one clean test. You’ll hear about: Why “it worked for them” can become one of the most expensive sentences in your businessThe difference between studying what works and copying from panicHow borrowed certainty shows up in content, systems, routines, and success metricsWhy a system cannot organize decisions you have not madeHow to stop treating every wobble like proof your whole business is wrong The five Game Film questions from the episode. Before you change anything, ask: What happened right before I started looking outward? What did I try to change immediately after?Did this solve the problem, or did it just give me motion? What is my own proof saying? What would I test if I were not allowed to rebuild the whole thing? If you can feel the pattern but don’t trust yourself to see it clearly, start with the async friction audit. It’s a straight, no-fluff diagnostic that helps you name what’s actually broken, what’s just loud, what needs to be cut, and what next move makes sense before you build another thing that only looks right on paper.
Are You Being Too Flexible?
2026/07/21
Being flexible is not the problem. Being the only place the cost can land is. In this episode of The Burnout-Proof Podcast, I’m talking about client boundaries, late cancellations, quick questions, missed prep deadlines, scope creep, and all the tiny “it’s fine, I can make it work” moments that quietly drain your business. This is not a “stop being nice” conversation. It’s a game film conversation. Because most high-capacity founders are not bending their own rules because they’re weak. They’re doing it because they care, because the reason is real, and because their business has no better container for the exception. We’ll look at why flexibility turns into resentment, how to spot where you’re absorbing the cost, and how to build one simple rule that protects your time, energy, delivery quality, and recovery without making your business cold. If this hits, pick one recurring exception and write the rule. And if you want the more personal version, join Sunday CEO Diaries at coachellyn.com/list. Does Your Business Cost Too Much to Keep Running?
2026/07/14
A business can be profitable, wanted, and technically working while still costing too much to keep carrying. In this episode, I’m talking about the emotionally expensive business: the offers, platforms, roles, and systems that produce proof while charging you in resentment, identity drift, decision fatigue, quick questions, and the feeling that your own good ideas have become another tab open in your nervous system. We’ll talk about why profit is not the whole scoreboard, how “Notion girl” and “burnout coach” became useful doors but not the whole house, and the Emotional Surcharge Audit I’m running on my own business right now. If your business is working but your body keeps saying, “not like this,” this one is for you. In this episode: Why working and aligned are not the same thingHow useful doors can become too smallWhy resentment is game film, not a character flawWhat an emotionally expensive business actually costsThe question to ask before you redesign the next version Join the Sunday CEO Diaries here. The Missing Habit That Makes Your Notion System Actually Work
2026/07/07
Your Notion system isn’t failing because your dashboard is messy. It’s failing because the information never makes it into the dashboard in the first place — and it’s almost always because of the two-minute gap after the call, after the idea, after the “oh crap don’t forget this” moment. In this episode, we’re fixing the real problem: your capture habit. Not a prettier setup. Not a new template. The habit (and tiny bridge) that moves your notes from real life into a system you’ll actually use — so your brain can stop being the unpaid database. You’ll learn how to find one leak where your info keeps disappearing (client notes, task capture, content ideas, follow-ups), identify where it shows up first, and build the smallest possible bridge into your Notion system or second brain — voice-to-text, a 60-second template, an “absolutely not losing this” inbox, whatever fits your actual life. When You Can’t “Remember Later”: Systems for ADHD Entrepreneurs
2026/06/30
People tell me all the time, “You’re so organized.” But actually? I’m really not. In this episode, I’m breaking down why the best systems for ADHD entrepreneurs are rarely the prettiest templates or the most aesthetic Notion dashboards. They’re the ones built around your actual brain, your executive function, your real capacity, and the weird little workarounds you keep judging yourself for needing. We’ll talk about why “I’ll remember that later” is not a strategy, how open loops can hijack your attention, why copying someone else’s productivity system usually fails, and how tools like Notion only work when they solve a real friction point from your actual life. You’ll also hear the story behind the Myers-Briggs workshop moment that made me realize how much of what people call “organization” is really adaptation. I JUDGED Myself for Doing EXACTLY What I'd Tell a Client To Do
2026/06/22
Rescheduling the call. Moving the appointment. Saying “not today.” If you’re a high achiever, you already know that’s sometimes the most responsible, ethical choice… and you still feel like trash afterward. That’s the problem: you can do the sustainable thing and still pay the judgment tax—the self-punishment fee your brain charges you for being human. In this episode, we build self-compassion as a performance skill (not a vibe). You’ll learn how to stop confusing a capacity-based decision with an identity verdict, especially if you’re attached to being “the reliable one.” We’ll talk about why rest can feel like irresponsibility, why boundaries can trigger shame, and how nervous system regulation actually requires truth—not calendar lies. You’ll leave with a simple reframe and a line to use in real time: “This decision is neutral. I’m not available for the judgment tax.” If this hits, follow the show and come join Sunday CEO Diaries for more burnout-proof tools for high performers.
