कविता एक ऐसे व्यक्ति की भावनाओं को व्यक्त करती है जो अपनी प्रेमिका के विरह में है। कविता में, एक पुराने ट्रंक का वर्णन है जिसमें उसे अपनी प्रेमिका का एक पत्र मिलता है। पत्र में प्रेमिका ने केवल "प्रिय" लिखा है, प्रेमी का नाम नहीं। पत्र में लिखी भावनाएं धुंधली हो गई हैं, लेकिन प्रेमी उन्हें पढ़ सकता है। पत्र में लिखी भावनाओं से पता चलता है कि प्रेमिका भी प्रेमी को उतना ही याद करती है जितना प्रेमी उसे। प्रेमी के दिन अंगारों से हो गए हैं और रातें बर्फ सी जमी हैं। उसकी हसरतें उबासी लेने लगी हैं और तमन्नाएं अंगड़ाई लेती हैं। उसके मन का सूरज भरी दोपहर में डूब रहा है। प्रेमी का बिस्तर और तकिया उसकी आंसुओं से भीगी हुई है। प्रेमी ने पहला गुलाब का फूल, जो प्रेमिका के प्रेम निवेदन का प्रतीक है, उसे कांच के मर्तबान में डाल दिया है। वह उम्मीद करता है कि जब प्रेमिका वापस लौटेगी तब तक यह फूल उतना ही ताज़ा और नम रहेगा जितना उनका प्रेम। पतझड़ के मौसम में प्रेम वृक्ष की सूखी शाखा प्रेमी के चेहरे पर झूलती दिखती है। प्रेमी की माँ ने नज़र उतारने के लिए कई बार उसके सर से सात मिर्चें बायीं ओर घुमाकर जलाई हैं। यह नज़्म प्रेम और विरह की भावनाओं को बखूबी व्यक्त करती है। यह दर्शाता है कि प्रेम कितना गहरा और स्थायी होता है। #urdu #urdupoetry #rekhta #urdushayari
