Messy Game Edition: Let's Get Deep
2026/09/10
We’re getting a little too comfortable in Episode 62 of Messy Truths! Recorded at the beginning of March 2026, this episode puts Mar, Nesha, and Azar in the hot seat as Nesha, our resident game mistress, guides the crew through not one, but two social games designed to reveal just how well the hosts really know themselves — and each other.
In Episode 62, Nesha takes the wheel as our resident game mistress, guiding the hosts through two social games that have them opening up, revealing unexpected sides of themselves, and answering questions they might not normally get asked. Get ready to find out about the worst gift Azar has ever received (spoiler: an ex-boyfriend was responsible). Nesha gets real about forgiveness — and admits that even when she’s forgiven someone who hurt her, she can still be a little petty. Meanwhile, Mar shares the secret behind some of her long-lasting friendships and what keeps those relationships going through the years.
There are also strong opinions, playful debates, unexpected confessions, and a couple of hot takes from Mar about some of the music industry’s biggest darlings.
It’s personal, it’s playful, it’s opinionated, and, as always, a little messy. You'll feel like you’re getting to know the hosts just a little better.
Press play and get into the mess with Mar, Nesha and Azar.

Old Heads New Music
2025/12/25
The year 2025 delivered one of the most high-quality years of hip-hop in recent memory, and in episode 59 of Messy Truths, Azar, Mar and Nesha break down how the culture may have experienced a hip-hop algorithm reset — led by the veterans.
We discuss projects from seasoned artists who continue to set the bar, including Raekwon’s The Emperor’s New Clothes, Ghostface Killah’s long-awaited Supreme Clientele 2, and Clipse’s powerful return with Let God Sort Em Out. We also discuss The Alchemist’s prolific 2025 run, highlighted by Alfredo 2 with Freddie Gibbs, and Life Is Beautiful alongside 2 Chainz and Larry June. Of course, no conversation about this year is complete without touching on new music from the ever-consistent Nas and Lupe Fiasco.
From production choices to lyrical maturity, we explore why these "old heads" didn’t just keep up — they reclaimed the spotlight and reminded everyone of how to deliver timeless hip-hop sounds.

Lost Ones
2025/12/04
Note: This episode was recorded in October and released a little later than expected — thanks for your patience.
In this soulful and reflective episode of Messy Truths, Mar, Nesha, and Azar come together to honor the legendary voices we've lost over the past couple of years—musicians whose music shaped generations and shifted culture.
Nesha opens the tribute by remembering the legendary singer and pianist, Roberta Flack, celebrating her timeless voice and the vulnerability she brought to every note.
This episode was sparked by the heartbreaking passing of D’Angelo. The trio dives deep into the legacy he leaves behind and the seismic influence he had on Neosoul, R&B, and the culture at large. Naturally, the conversation also turns to the incomparable Angie Stone, whose imprint on music remains undeniable.
Together, the hosts pay homage to other musical giants we’ve lost, including malletKat Pro vibraphone master Roy Ayers, visionary producer and composer Quincy Jones, and D’Wayne Wiggins, co-founding member of Tony! Toni! Toné!, whose artistry helped define the R&B sound of Oakland, California and beyond the Bay Area.
Join us as we reflect on the artists whose music raised and moved us.

Welcome to Episode 51 of the Messy Truths Podcast. After a brief hiatus, the ladies are back with another raw and candid show. This time your hostesses talk about grief.
Nesha bravely reveals that her mother--affectionately known as The Warden on the show--passed away earlier this year (00:01:00). Thus begins a brutally honest discussion about grief and loss, and the ways in which we try to cope with the death of a loved one.
Mar talks about what experts consider the 7 Stages of grief (00:08:55). Azar discusses how she struggled to deal with the death of her mother (00:14:35), then Mar talks about her own personal experience grieving the loss of her mother, and some of the risk-taking behaviour associated with bereavement (00:15:15]). Nesha emphasizes the importance of writing a will and estate planning (00:24:55). Azar extols the virtues of group counseling and why repressing feelings is a big no-no (00:33:50).
The ladies then talk about the complexities of memorializing and keeping shrines of lost loved ones (00:41:10). Finally, they make it clear that self-care should be a major priority for people grieving and what that may look like (00:48:30).

Messy Confessions
2022/12/15
Welcome to episode 48 of the Messy Truths podcast! In this episode, the ladies explore Reddit, one of Mar's favourite apps. Particularly the r/confessions subreddit where people unveil their most vulnerable confessions on the interweb. Nesha and Mar get vulnerable and give a confession of their own before they and Azar reads some salacious posts on the air.
Do you like confessions? Are you a fan of Reddit? This show has the best of both and some of the posts are pretty wild. For example:
An engaged woman confesses that she is turned on by her physiotherapist.
An Afro-Latina woman confesses her thoughts on skin complexion.
A person confesses that they are tired of their girlfriend, but refuses to leave the relationship.
A Redditor talks about their experience microdosing on magic mushrooms.
A boyfriend admits to catfishing his girlfriend.
A heterosexual male in a relationship always seems to find himself masturbating when looking at his male neighbour.
Listen to the entire show for these confessions and much more!
