DeCesare just notched her 1,000th career point this past season and became the 24th player in Merrimack history to reach this accolade. Matt Murphy has served as the Delaware Bluecoats, the NBA G-League affiliate of the Philadelphia 76ers, TV play-by-play broadcaster since 2018. 2018 was the year Matt graduated from Fordham University, got his bachelor’s degree in economics and communications, received a radio play-by-play job with Alvernia University calling college football, and then landing himself the job he is currently in with the Bluecoats. Matt is currently also the senior broadcasting and social media coordinator for the Philadelphia 76ers. He reports on the team and is the pre, halftime, and post game host for the 76ers Radio Network. A lot has happened for Matt in such short time on his broadcasting journey. Christian Arrington, a Harrisburg PA native, just recently graduated from the University of Rhode Island. At the top of his class in high school, Christian fell in love with Rhode Island the day he found out the football program was going to give him a full ride to attend the University. Arrington was a crucial part of the Rams defense throughout his career until injuries started to linger, forcing him to medically retire from the sport that he loves the most. Christian talks a lot about the mental side of the sport and how he is trying to put his teachings from the game that he grew up learning into coaching. Zed Key, or as the Big10 calls him, the most interesting player in college basketball, join’s Cam’s Corner this week ! Zed is from Bayshore New York and was a 3 and 4 star high school recruit out of Long Island Lutheran High School in Brookville New York. The 6’8 forward talks a lot about the transition period from his freshman year to sophomore year with the Buckeyes and how it was one of the hardest off-seasons he has ever encountered, losing almost 25 pounds. Thomas Zednik, a Johnston Rhode Island native, is now a two-time conference championship after this previous season in the MASCAC. Standing at 6’5, the 210 pound wide receiver has had this height advantage over his openers ever since he left high school. He talks about how hard it was to choose between either taking basketball or football to the next level in college. The South Kingstown Rhode Island native, Montaner Fresilli, is very used to being in front of the camera. He attended South Kingstown High School and stayed in the Ocean State to attend the University of Rhode Island, whited berthed his college football career. After an unfortunate career ending injury, Montaner wanted to seek out ways to still stay around the game he loved. Kasim Hill is in his last year with the Rhode Island Rams as the teams season is coming to a close. With three games remaining on the schedule, I caught up with the Redshirt Senior to see where is mind is at during this final stretch of games at the college level. Hill has attended Maryland and Tennessee before coming to Rhode Island and he mentions the decision to come to Rhody Nation was as easy as a phone call to his former high school teammate and Rams stand out Wide Receiver last year, Ed Lee. Lee played with Hill for a total of 3 seasons at URI and had his first taste of the NFL with the Patriots this past summer. Hill has been inspired by all his former teammates that have gone pro and he talks a lot about how that has motivated him to bring his game to the next level as well.
