She had a meteoric rise to political stardom in San Diego local politics, starting in the early 70s when she became the city's youngest councilmember ever, at twenty-five years old. However, Maureen O’Connor recently made headlines in 2013 for her dizzying, billion-dollar gambling addiction that resulted in her embezzling $2 million from her late husband’s charity.
