Reclaiming your body after having two babies is not an easy task. It's an ongoing uphill climb for a lot of women. Hilary decided to reclaim her body and her artistry through the creation of the song "Not Apologizing". This week's episode walks us through the long journey this song has gone through to get to be the glittery, pop star, punk diva anthem that it is now.

Sometimes inspiration finds you in the most peculiar places... like a late-night binge of Ariana Grande youtube videos. Ari is to thank for our quietest moment in the show, where Hilary builds herself a chorus of voices trying to lift up her partner in his moments of weakness using nothing but a vocal looper.

Sometimes you strike gold and find the perfect creative collaborator where you understand each other on what feels like a cellular level. We urge you to protect that at all costs when you find it.

"It's the great contradiction of parenthood" - you know the feeling where you'd do anything to serve and care for your children but you also want to throw them across the room like a football? That feeling was what propelled the creation of the song "Home In Me"- a moving balled Hilary wrote for her daughter Freddie. We speak about the decision to slow the pace of the show down to an almost halt a quarter of the way through, how contradiction is an innate human quality despite our desires to hide it and Hilary opens up about writing this song in the throes of some of her darkest moments.

We're starting at the beginning of the writing process and not the beginning of the show. "Doing Just Fine" was the first song Hilary wrote for this new era of music (long before she knew she was even in a new era of music) and the themes of the song go so nicely with the evolution of this entire show that it felt like the perfect place to start.
