In this episode we discussed Riyaa’. A form of shirk that we’re all familiar with, even if we don’t think are. It’s the idea of only doing good deeds (charitable acts, sadaqah, etc) when others are around to see it rather than for the sake of Allah (SWT). We’re all at a transitional stage in our lives. Some of us are still in school, but a lot of us have finished and gone on to start careers. Nobody realizes this, but it’s easy to make and keep friends in school. But it’s so much harder to do that once everyone goes their separate ways after graduation. As young Muslims, some of whom are already married, we all know what's expected of us in marriage from an Islamic perspective. But what about from a modern or personal perspective? Most households today are run on two incomes, sometimes out of necessity, and sometimes due to preference. Let's hear what our four speakers have to say about the dynamic and what their long term goals are.

The majority of our team has finished college. Some of us have even gone on to complete graduate studies. This begs the question… what comes next? What’s different? We sit down with our Imam one last time to learn more about the signs of the day of judgement and what to expect after believers and nonbelievers pass away (the trials of the grave).

The podcast ladies have a stimulating conversation about Mehr, including what it is, the Islamic implications behind it, and of course what we would like our own Mehr to be when the times comes (InshAllah, ameen).

This episode is one that means a lot to the four cast members. As young south Asian men, it’s rather difficult to find people that look like us in media- more specifically: sports. We’re hard pressed to find a fellow desi in, say, the NBA or MLB. Yes there are a select few and we’ll support those few. However we can’t help but wonder, if we saw more prominent representation, would we have felt more encouragement to follow in their footsteps? At this point it’s difficult to tell. We brought in very special guests Amina Ademi, and Shaakirah Williams to discuss how we navigated in the MCC/MEC community (which is majority desi) as Black, Arab, and Bosnian women. All four speakers are MEC alumni and as such the community is dear to all of our hearts. However, that doesn't mean the feeling of love and respect are returned. There are varying experiences and ages represented on the episode. Various degrees of acceptance and regret. Halloween Given that it's October, some of us may or may not be engaging in spooky, Halloween themed activities. Sit down with us while we talk about our own childhood experiences related to Halloween as well as how we look at it now as adults. This conversation is in no way meant to judge anyone. None of us are in a position where we should be doing that anyway. We're just four people sharing what it was like growing up in a western world where holidays such as this are a nationwide phenomena.

It may have faded from the news headlines and people aren't posting about it like they were a while back, but the crisis in Afghanistan is far from over. Members of our ummah are being subject to reckless violence. As American Muslims the last thing we should be doing is turning a blind eye, seeing as our government is the one that helped the current regime climb to power. WE sit down with student and Afghani activist Feriba to discuss the crisis and learn exactly what it is we can do to best serve our community.
