Rooted in Winter, Wild in Truth
2026/02/02
This episode marks the beginning of a new chapter for the podcast and an intentional pause to honor the season we are in, both collectively and within our bodies. I (Heather) start by introducing the Wild & Rooted Woman mission, which is all about living in relationship with nature, honoring your nervous system wisdom, and reclaiming intuition and creativity during midlife and perimenopause. Through the lens of Imbolc, we explore the quiet beginnings that happen beneath the surface, reminding us that rest, incubation, and subtle shifts are preparation. We also reflect on the Snow Moon in Leo, and how this connects to heart led integrity, creativity and self expression.  We share how these work together at a magical time of year and how this can be seen within the perimenopause body as well. We close this episode with three Wild & Rooted practices designed to support your nervous system, hormones, and emotional wellbeing during this season, which offer you simple ways to tend your inner fire while honoring the need for softness and care. I hope you enjoy.   For more connection check out the newsletter at:  heatherwebsterwellness.com or find me on IG @heatherwebsterwellness
Your Nervous System Is Always Watching and Immediately Responding
2026/01/26
Have you ever felt shaken after watching the news, cried during a movie you knew wasn’t real, or felt your body soften simply by looking at trees or water? In this episode, we explore the science and wisdom behind why the nervous system responds to what we witness, whether it be through screens, sound, story, or nature itself. You’ll learn how the brain simulates experience, why mirror neurons drive empathy and emotional replication, and how the autonomic nervous system reacts to perceived safety or threat, even when nothing is happening directly to you. We also take a grounded look at how repeated exposure to distressing media has impacted collective nervous systems, including how continual replay of 9/11 footage affected individuals who were not physically present. This episode gently reframes sensitivity as biological intelligence and offers nature-based ways to restore balance in a modern world filled with overstimulation. If this episode resonated, learn more about the 28-Day Nervous System Reset, a gentle, nature-rooted experience designed to help your body come back into rhythm through women’s circles, group coaching, and community support. Bonus: Nervous System Reset
2026/01/24
Today is a bonus episode introducing a Nervous System Reset. As we are getting inundated with negativity, we are starting to feel out of balance and this is greatly impacting our nervous system and ultimately our health. Creativity as a Path Back to Your Wild & Rooted Self
2026/01/19
In this episode of Insightful Adventuring, we explore creativity as a essential component for nervous system regulation. We talk about how creativity lives not only in the arts, but in problem solving, relationships and everyday decision making and why creativity often narrows under stress or rigid routine. We also explore why creativity often resurfaces during perimenopause, as a call toward meaning, truth, and regulation. By looking back at who we were as children and what we engaged with, we can rediscover creative pathways that still support us now, including getting back in touch with our creative side and limiting some of the many symptoms we experience. This episode also marks the beginning of the podcast’s transition into The Wild & Rooted Woman Podcast, which will continue to foster a deeper home for these conversations. Here are three ways to begin integrating creativity this week: - Notice where stress or routine has narrowed your creativity, especially at work, and experiment with one small shift in how you approach a familiar task. -Reflect on what you loved doing as a child and invite one of those qualities back into your week. -Spend intentional time in nature, even briefly, and let your senses lead before returning to your responsibilities. You're NOT Losing Your Mind: The Perimenopausal Brain
2026/01/12
In this episode, we explore what’s really happening in the perimenopausal brain and why brain fog, word-finding pauses, and changes in focus don’t mean you’re losing your mind. We unpack the science of fluctuating estrogen and its role in memory, neurotransmitters, and cognitive processing, while naming the very real pressure of working full-time in a world that still expects constant productivity. This is an honest conversation about biology, nervous systems, and why fear and shame often make cognitive symptoms feel worse than they actually are. Through a Wild & Rooted lens, we also reframe forgetting as part of a larger neurological and spiritual reorganization. One that invites discernment, embodied knowing, and different ways of working. We explore how time in nature supports memory, focus, and neurotransmitter balance, and how small, practical shifts can help you stay functional without overriding your body. This episode is a reminder that you’re not broken; you’re adapting, recalibrating, and learning how to work with a different kind of intelligence. Nature, Cortisol, and the Perimenopausal Body: A Return to Regulation
2026/01/05
We often times want to fix perimenopause, but what if we are able to reframe it as a threshold the body is guiding us through. In this episode, we explore how time in nature supports the perimenopausal nervous system by lowering cortisol and inflammation, and how this physiological shift can ease symptoms such as anxiety, weight gain, brain fog, and the emotional rollarcoaster. Through a Wild & Rooted lens, this conversation weaves together science, nervous system wisdom, and the spiritual remembering that we are not meant to move through this season alone; instead we can work in partnership/relationship with nature, which offers co-regulation, rhythm, and belonging. If this sounds interesting, take a listen. Bonus: The New Year Doesn’t Always Begin in January
2026/01/01
What if January isn’t meant for rushing forward, but instead it is for listening? In this episode, Heather gently unravels the cultural story that says the new year must begin with immediate change, productivity, and reinvention. Through history, nature, and embodied wisdom, we explore why the pressure to start fresh on January 1st is a modern construct and why your body may be resisting it for good reason. We look at how January and February weren’t even part of the original calendar, how many cultures welcome the new year later in the season, and how animals instinctively begin their year only when conditions support growth. This conversation also holds a deeper tension many of us are feeling: The message that “you’re doing the best you can” has been necessary and yet, rest doesn’t mean abandoning our dreams. Winter isn’t a time of giving up on becoming; it’s a time of rooting into what wants to grow next. This episode is an invitation to honor rest without shrinking your vision, to move gently without giving up your longing, and to trust that growth doesn’t require urgency, only alignment. Resolutions That Can Take Root
2025/12/29
The New Year often arrives with pressure. Maybe in the past, you have instilled new goals, new habits, a demand to change quickly, but you found yourself reaching for something that seemed to be unattainable in the end. In this episode, we slow this moment down.  We accept this step into the new year and instead of resolutions built on force or self-criticism, we explore what it means to create intentions that are internally believed, supportive, and deeply possible. This episode is an invitation to meet the year ahead gently, with trust, embodiment, and self-honoring change. Growth does not come from pressure, it comes from relationship with yourself and the world around you. Just like in nature, the deepest changes often happen quietly, beneath the surface, long before anything is visible. Thank you for listening, for slowing down, and for choosing a rooted beginning. If this episode resonated, you’re warmly invited to explore more reflections, rituals, and nature-based wisdom inside the Wild & Rooted world and through my social media platforms. www.heatherwebsterwellness.com IG:  @heatherwebsterwellness
Winter Solstice Series, Episode 5: Preparing for the Light
2025/12/20
As we move into the eve of the winter solstice, this episode offers a quiet, embodied ritual to help you prepare the inner ground before the longest night arrives. Rather than rushing toward release or intention-setting, this episode invites you into the threshold space. The space for listening, clearing, and soft noticing, which comes before the turning of the light. Website: www.heatherwebsterwellness.com
Winter Solstice Series, Episode 4: Listening for the Small Light
2025/12/19
In this episode of the Winter Solstice series, we explore the subtle return of light after the solstice and what it teaches us about intuition, inner guidance, and the quiet ways growth begins. Rather than focusing on big goals or dramatic change, this conversation invites you into stillness and noticing. The kind of listening that helps you hear what’s quietly returning beneath the surface of your life. This episode is especially resonant for women moving through perimenopause, when the body and intuition often begin to speak more softly, but more insistently asking for attention, rest, and honesty. Winter Solstice Series, Episode 3: Remembering the Ancestral Ways of Ritual & Earth Memory
2025/12/18
As the Winter Solstice approaches, we turn toward the wisdom that has guided humans through the longest nights for thousands of years. In this episode, we explore how ancestral ritual, especially fire-based and earth-centered practices, help us move through darkness with meaning. We reflect on the solstice not only as a moment of release, but as a threshold where something new begins to quietly stir. This conversation weaves together earth-based solstice traditions, the healing role of ritual in regulating the nervous system, and the deep resonance these practices hold for women in perimenopause—a life season that mirrors winter’s invitation to slow, listen, and let go of what no longer fits. You’ll hear about the Ritual of 13 Wishes, an old solstice practice that honors both surrender and intention, allowing us to release control while trusting what is meant to be carried forward into the year ahead. Rather than offering a “right way” to ritual, this episode invites you to listen—to your body, the land you live on, and the ancestral memory that still lives within you. If you’re drawn to living in closer relationship with the seasons, your body, and your intuition, you’re warmly invited to join the Wild & Rooted newsletter, where monthly reflections and seasonal practices continue this conversation. Winter Solstice Episode 2: Standing at the Threshold & Releasing What No Longer Roots Us
2025/12/17
The Winter Solstice is not just the longest night of the year, it is a threshold. In this episode, we explore the quiet, often uncomfortable space between endings and beginnings. The place where something has finished its work, but what comes next has not yet taken shape. Using the language of nature, we reflect on why releasing can feel so unsettling, especially when our culture offers little ceremony for endings. We also weave in perimenopause as a powerful threshold season in a woman’s life: a time when the body often knows before the mind that something must change. Energy shifts. Tolerance narrows. What once felt sustainable no longer nourishes the roots. This episode is an invitation to listen to your body, your intuition, and the subtle signals that something is ready to be released. Winter Solstice Series, Episode 1: The Wisdom of Darkness- Rooting into the Winter Rest
2025/12/15
As winter deepens and the light continues to recede, the natural world invites us to slow down, rest, and turn inward. Many of us feel pressure to do the opposite; to keep producing, pushing, and performing as if it’s always spring. In this episode of Insightful Adventuring, Heather explores the wisdom of darkness and what it means to root into winter rest; both seasonally and within the body. This conversation gently weaves together earth-based rhythms and the lived experience of perimenopause, reframing this time of life not as a breakdown, but as a meaningful threshold. Like winter, perimenopause often asks for deeper rest, clearer boundaries, and a return to inner knowing. Rather than resisting these signals, we explore what becomes possible when we listen. If living in rhythm with the seasons and listening more closely to your body feels supportive, I share quiet reflections, seasonal prompts, and nature-based practices in my Wild & Rooted newsletter. You’re welcome to join if it feels like a fit. Visit www.heatherwebsterwellness.com to learn more
