What If Repeating Is the Real Growth?
2026/08/01
What If Repeating Is the Real Growth?
We're often told that growth means changing, improving and constantly moving forward. But what if that's not always true?
In this episode of Evolve or Repeat, I explore a different perspective: perhaps some of the greatest wisdom comes from returning to the things that have always worked.
Inspired by conversations with a retired teacher and my visit to a pioneering former mental health hospital, I reflect on how many effective practices have disappeared in the pursuit of progress. From education and mental health to our own daily routines, are we too quick to replace what serves us?
I also share a simple yet powerful reflection exercise from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) that can help you recognise what genuinely supports your wellbeing—not just in the moment, but over the long term.
Sometimes the answer isn't finding something new.
Sometimes it's remembering what you've forgotten.
Why change isn't always synonymous with progress.Lessons we can learn from traditional education and early mental health care.A practical ACT exercise to help you evaluate what's truly working in your life. How repeating supportive habits can reduce stress and improve wellbeing. Why more people are returning to slower, simpler ways of living.Questions to help you identify the practices worth repeating. What have you stopped doing that once made you feel healthier, calmer or happier?Which habits helped you in the long term? What could you start repeating this week?If this episode resonated with you, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
What have you forgotten that actually works?

How I Went From £27,000 in Debt to Financial Freedom: The Bank of Mum and Dad Simple Financial Tips for Financial Challenges and Wins
2026/07/20
From Debt to Financial Freedom: The Money Conversation We Need to Have
Money can feel like one of life's biggest taboos, yet financial stress affects millions of people and has a huge impact on our mental wellbeing.
In this deeply personal episode of Evolve or Repeat, I share the story I rarely talk about—appearing on the BBC's The Bank of Mum and Dad in my twenties after finding myself in significant debt following the collapse of my catering business.
I wasn't taught how to manage money, and like many people, I made mistakes.
But those mistakes became one of the greatest lessons of my life.
Today I'm debt free, credit card free and own my home outright—not because I'm a financial expert, but because I changed my habits, my awareness and my relationship with money.
In this episode I share the practical steps that helped me completely transform my finances, alongside an honest conversation about the emotional weight that debt can carry.
My experience on BBC's The Bank of Mum and DadHow I paid off thousands of pounds of debtWhy awareness is the first step to financial freedomSimple budgeting techniques that actually workHow to understand where your money really goesPrioritising debt repaymentsSelling items and creating additional incomeManaging money with ADHD and neurodiversityThe connection between money and mental wellbeingRemoving shame and opening honest conversations about financesFinancial wellbeing isn't about perfection.
It's about awareness, honesty and taking one small step at a time.
I've written a detailed blog that expands on everything discussed in this episode, including practical exercises and budgeting tips.

Are Your Words Healing You or Harming You?
2026/07/09
The Energy of Words: Why What You Consume Matters
Have you ever noticed that after listening to certain conversations, podcasts or scrolling social media you feel heavier, more anxious or emotionally drained?
In this episode of Evolve or Repeat, I'm exploring something that has become incredibly important in my own life the vibration and energy of the words we hear every single day.
After recently listening to a podcast filled with words such as anxiety, depression and trauma, I noticed my own nervous system becoming activated. The moment I switched to uplifting music, my whole body softened. It reminded me just how powerful language can be.
Together we'll explore:
• Why words carry energy and influence our emotions.• How everything we consume affects us—not just food, but conversations, books, podcasts, music, television, social media and our environment.• The fascinating work of Dr. Masaru Emoto and his water crystal experiments, and why this may matter when our bodies are made up of around 60% water.• Why highly sensitive people and empaths may feel these effects even more deeply.• How your inner dialogue shapes your wellbeing.• Practical ways to protect your energy through conscious media consumption, boundaries and daily rituals.• Simple energy protection practices including grounding, essential oils, Epsom salt baths, crystals and creating supportive environments.
This episode is an invitation to become curious about what you're allowing into your mind, body and heart each day. Small changes in what you consume can create profound shifts in how you feel.

Until next time, remember...
You always have a choice.
You can evolve...
or you can repeat.
What Happens When You Outgrow Your Life?
2026/07/01
Welcome to the very first episode of Evolve or Repeat.
This podcast was born from one of the biggest decisions I've ever made: closing my meditation and mindfulness teacher training business after 11 years.
It wasn't a decision made from failure. Quite the opposite.
The business was successful, growing, and welcoming new students. But deep down, I knew I had changed. My priorities had shifted, my children had grown up, and I found myself craving something I hadn't prioritised for years—peace.
In this episode, I share the honest story behind that decision, including the fear, anxiety, grief and freedom that came with choosing to evolve instead of repeating a path that no longer felt aligned.
Why I renamed the podcast from Be Free to Evolve or RepeatThe real reason I chose to close my businessWhy success isn't always about doing moreHow life stages naturally change our prioritiesThe identity shifts that can come with menopause and midlifeThe emotions that kept me holding on longer than I needed toHow to recognise when your intuition is asking you to make a changeWhy letting go often creates space for something even betterAs you listen, consider:
Where am I evolving?Where am I repeating old patterns because they feel familiar? What am I holding onto that no longer reflects who I'm becoming? If fear wasn't making this decision, what would I choose?I'd love to hear your thoughts after listening.
If this episode resonated, please leave a review, subscribe, and share it with someone navigating change.
And if you're feeling creative... I'm looking for a podcast jingle! If you'd like to create one for Evolve or Repeat, I'd love to hear it.
Thank you for being here at the beginning of this new chapter.
With love,
Susi

Remember Who The F*ck You Are: Reconnecting With Your Authentic Self
In this powerful solo episode, Susi shares a deeply personal journey through self-doubt, perimenopause, life transitions, and the challenge of losing connection with who you truly are.
After a difficult period of questioning her identity and purpose, Susi experienced a breakthrough that reminded her of a simple but life-changing truth: sometimes you don't need to find yourself, you need to remember who you already are.
This episode explores how external pressures, burnout, grief, hormonal changes, societal expectations, and fear can disconnect us from our authentic selves, and what we can do to reconnect with our truth, joy, and purpose.

Period Power and Identity with Laura Bailey
2025/12/18
New Episode: Period Power and Identity with Laura Bailey
This week’s episode of the Be Free Podcast is a rich, honest, and expansive conversation with Laura Bailey — TEDx speaker, librarian, and menstrual awareness advocate — exploring identity, body connection, and what it really means to live in rhythm with yourself.
Laura shares how she no longer defines herself by fixed labels or roles, but instead allows her identity to evolve day by day. We talk about how passions, curiosities, and what lights us up are often far more truthful reflections of who we are than job titles or external expectations.
A big part of this conversation centres around menstrual awareness and reconnecting with the body. Laura opens up about being disconnected from her cycle for 15 years while on the pill, and how attending a Conscious Cycles event completely changed her relationship with her body. Together, we explore how little education many of us received about hormones, cycles, and contraceptive choices — and the long-term impact of that lack of information.
In this episode, we explore:
👉 Identity as something fluid, not fixed
👉 Why reconnecting with your menstrual cycle builds self-trust
👉 The gaps in menstrual and hormonal education across generations
👉 Why “one-size-fits-all” cycle syncing doesn’t work for everyone
You’ll also learn:
✅ How tracking your cycle can feel empowering rather than restrictive
✅ Why perimenopause awareness earlier in life really matters
✅ How cyclical living helps you notice repeating patterns and unmet needs
✅ Gentle ways to reconnect with your body through stillness and listening
✅ Why normalising conversations about periods benefits everyone — including men
If you’re craving a deeper connection to your body, your cycle, and your sense of self, this episode is a gentle invitation to slow down, listen, and trust your own rhythm.
🎧 Tune in to Be Free Podcast, Series 2 — and explore Period Power, identity, and authentic living.

Playing the Hand You are Dealt with John Kippen
2025/12/11
New Episode: Playing the Hand You are Dealt with John Kippen
This week’s episode of the Be Free Podcast is a truly inspiring one. I’m in conversation with John Kippen — TEDx speaker, resilience coach, magician, and author — as he shares his powerful journey of overcoming a brain tumour and facial paralysis, and how he found his way back to the stage after years of hiding.
John’s story is a reminder of the deep healing power of self-acceptance, choosing to dream again, and stepping forward even when life has dealt us the unexpected. Through storytelling and magic, he now helps others move beyond limiting beliefs and live more authentically.
In this episode, we explore:
👉 How hiding parts of ourselves disconnects us from our true power
👉 The role of self-acceptance in healing and rebuilding confidence
👉 Choosing to dream freely again after trauma or major life change
👉 Why surrounding yourself with supportive people is everything
🌿 You’ll also learn:
✅ How to rebuild confidence after illness, trauma, or adversity
✅ Using storytelling as a tool to shift limiting beliefs
✅ Why compassion and deep listening can change lives
How small acts of kindness create powerful ripple effects
✅ The mindset behind choosing happiness and self-worth
John also shares insights from his book Playing the Hand You are Dealt, encouraging us to see our challenges as gateways to growth rather than endings.
If you’re navigating setbacks, self-doubt, or a season of rebuilding, this episode is your reminder that transformation is possible — and you don’t have to walk the path alone.
🎧 Tune in to Be Free Podcast, Season 2 — for an uplifting conversation on resilience, courage, and living authentically.

Understanding and Overcoming Health Anxiety
2025/11/21
🌗 New Episode: Understanding and Overcoming Health Anxiety
This week’s episode of the Be Free Podcast is a deeply personal one. I’m opening up about my own journey with health anxiety, how it resurfaced during perimenopause, and the tools I’m using right now to steady myself.
Health anxiety can feel like a loop you can’t escape — the researching, the scanning, the checking, the fear… and the exhaustion. I’ve been there before, and I found my way through it. And even though it’s resurfaced during this season of hormonal change, I’m using everything I’ve learned to navigate it with compassion rather than panic.
In this episode, I share:
👉 Why health anxiety often shows up as a need for control
👉 How perimenopause can heighten fear, overthinking & physical sensitivity
👉 What helped me years ago — and what’s helping me now
👉 Why breaking patterns (like googling symptoms or tracking every sensation) is essential
🌿 You’ll also learn:
✅ How to use breathing techniques to deactivate anxiety
✅ Why body-based practices like Yoga Nidra & body scans are powerful
✅ How to distinguish between symptoms vs. sensations
✅ Why over-reassurance, over-checking & hyperfocus keep you stuck
✅ How holistic habits, boundaries & self-compassion support healing
✅ When anxiety is actually a sign your body needs rest, not fear
I also talk about antidepressants, alternative mental health support, and the importance of choosing what genuinely works for you.
If you’re living in that cycle of fear, checking, and “what if,” this episode is your reminder that you’re not alone — and that there are ways to create calm, clarity, and trust again.
🎧 Tune in to Be Free Podcast, Season 2 — and learn gentle tools to support your mind, body & nervous system.

The Mental Load of Decisions
2025/11/05
🌗 New Episode: The Mental Load of Decisions
Over the past few months, decision-making has felt heavier than usual , something many of us experience, especially during perimenopause or when managing ADHD. The mental load, the self-doubt, the constant second-guessing, it can all become overwhelming.
In this week’s episode of the Be Free Podcast, I open up about my own recent decisions from moving my horse to a new stable to pausing my meditation classes and even changing platforms for my courses after a steep price hike. None of these choices were easy, but each one reminded me of something powerful: 👉 Every decision we make is an act of self-trust.
👉 It’s okay to change your mind.
👉 And it’s okay to protect your energy by saying no or not right now.
As women, especially during hormonal shifts, our decision-making capacity can fluctuate and that’s normal. In this episode, I share practical ways to reduce decision fatigue, from automating daily choices to creating space for reflection, and why saving your mental energy for what truly matters is an act of self-care.
🌿 You’ll also learn:
✅ How to simplify your life through small, consistent decisions ✅ How to tune into your body for intuitive guidance
✅ Why indecision drains your confidence and how to rebuild self-trust
✅ Gentle strategies to navigate big choices without overwhelm
If you’re in a season of uncertainty or overthinking every “what if,” this episode is your reminder that clarity comes through movement not perfection.
🎧 Tune in to Be Free Podcast, Season 2 and give yourself permission to make decisions that support who you’re becoming.

Seasonal Changes; Autumn
2025/10/29
🍂 Be Free Podcast is Back — Series 2 Begins: Seasonal Changes; Autumn
After a nourishing break, I’m so excited to return with Series 2 of the Be Free Podcast! This new season flows with grounding energy, reflection, and soulful connection.
Over the past few months, I’ve been guiding meditation and mindfulness programs, launching Susi’s Soul Surprise, and preparing for a second podcast (more on that soon 🌙). I’m also running my Meditation & Mindfulness Teacher Training this October and the next cohort waitlist is now open if you feel called to join.
🌾 Embracing Autumn’s Energy Shifts This episode is all about aligning with autumn, slowing down after the busyness of summer, letting go, and finding beauty in change. I share a beautiful reading from Kirsty Gallagher’s Sacred Seasons and reflect on the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi, the art of finding beauty in imperfection.
🔥 Simplifying & Living Authentically I talk about moving my business fully online to focus on what truly matters — community, creativity, and mindful living. It’s a reminder to enjoy life’s simple pleasures: warm drinks, cozy evenings, and moments of reflection.
💫 Tune in to the new episode for grounding insights, journal prompts, and inspiration to reset for the season ahead.

Why I'm Pressing Pause: A Journey to Depth, Purpose & Presence
2025/05/29
After 4 years and 112 episodes I'm taking a sacred pause. In this heartfelt solo episode, Susi McWilliam shares a powerful decision: she's pressing pause on recording new podcast episodes. Why? Sensitive Souls, From Panic to Purpose with Dr Jeanne Retief
2025/05/21
In this episode, we sit down with the incredible Jeanne, the powerhouse behind FIGGI Beauty and FIGGI Soul. Jeanne’s story is one of fierce reinvention, from a career in international human rights law to the founder of a growing skincare brand built for sensitive souls, all catalyzed by a life-altering diagnosis of Panic Disorder in 2015.
We go deep into her evolution:
What drove her to human rights law and how it shaped her voice.
The moment that changed everything and forced her to confront her mental health head-on.
Why burnout doesn’t mean the end, it can be the beginning of authentic connection.
The birth of FIGGI and how it fuses skincare with soulful self-care.
Her raw, real perspective on being a mother, a business owner, and an advocate in today’s world.
This conversation is a must-listen for anyone navigating change, craving purpose, or ready to turn their pain into power.
✨ Whether you're rebuilding, reimagining, or just trying to breathe again—Jeanne’s story will remind you: your sensitivity is not a weakness, it’s your superpower.
