God`s Plan According to His Divine Timeline And How To Live By It
2026/09/29
In this episode, we dive together into the mystery of time and how God uses time to fulfill His plan into our lives, while we are living in faithfulness. Augustine once admitted that he knew perfectly well what time was until somebody asked him to explain it, and most of us live in the same condition, carried along by something we cannot define and cannot escape. Even those who believe nothing at all are still held inside this timeline, which is perhaps why we return to the subject again and again, in our philosophy and in our films, and why a man like Christopher Nolan can say he is obsessed with it. We answer questions such as: Is time a fixed four-dimensional block in which every moment already exists, or does it truly move forward, one second at a time? If the future does not yet exist, how can God possibly know what is going to happen? Does God's foreknowledge destroy human freedom, or is certainty something different from necessity? Can anything we do bring God's plan closer, or hurry it along? What does it mean that God does not erase the past but redeems it? What are we supposed to do in the long interval between the promise and its fulfillment? How do we live faithfully when we cannot see, and do not understand, what God is doing right now?
2 Corinthians 5 - This Body Is a Tent — And That's Good News
2026/09/22
Paul describes the body in which we live as a tent, and he does so not as an insult but as an accurate account of something built for a season rather than for permanence. In this episode of the Root Issues Podcast we work through 2 Corinthians 5 and consider what it means to inhabit a temporary dwelling without holding it in contempt and without grasping it too tightly. The chapter does not begin abruptly, for Paul has just been speaking of treasure carried in vessels of clay and of an outer self that is steadily wearing away, and it is from that point that he takes up the image of the tent, declaring that should this earthly tent be taken down there is already a building from God prepared for us, a house not made by human hands and eternal in the heavens.

John 14 - The cure for a troubled heart
2026/09/09
What do you do with a heart that won't settle down? In this episode of the Root Issues Podcast, we sit in John 14 and talk about troubled hearts, the seasons of life we didn't choose, and the one thing Jesus points to when everything else is shifting. The timing of this chapter matters. Jesus has just told His friends He's leaving. He's told Peter he'll deny Him before morning. These men are watching the season they've lived in for three years come to an end, and they have no idea what replaces it. That's when Jesus says: don't let your hearts be troubled. It's worth noticing that He isn't speaking from a distance. Earlier in this same gospel, John uses that exact word for Jesus Himself — troubled at Lazarus' tomb, troubled in spirit at the table. He knows what He's asking of them. And He says it twice. The phrase opens the chapter and closes it, wrapping everything in between: a place prepared, the way, the truth, the life, and a peace He describes as unlike anything the world hands out. In this episode we talk about: Why the season you're in shapes what you're able to hearThe difference between a troubled heart and a faithless oneWhat Jesus actually offers instead of an explanationWhy "let not your hearts be troubled" is a command and not just comfortHow to hold on to something steady when the season keeps changing
John 1 - Draw Near His Glory: Four Ways We Welcome Jesus In
2026/09/01
If Jesus came to dwell with us, the question isn't whether He's near. It's whether we've opened the door. In this episode of the Root Issues Podcast, we work through John 1:14-18 and four ways we actually welcome Jesus into our lives. John writes that the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. The word he chooses there is worth sitting with — it literally means to pitch a tent, and it's the same picture Israel knew from the wilderness, when God's presence settled in the tabernacle in the middle of the camp. John is saying that presence has moved in again, this time in a person. And then he adds something staggering: we have seen his glory. Moses once asked to see God's glory and was allowed only a glimpse. John says they watched it walk around, full of grace and truth. The four ways we welcome Him: Acknowledge Him — recognizing who has actually shown upMove toward Him — closing the distance rather than admiring from across the roomSee His Glory — learning to notice what's been in front of usDiscover new motivations — letting nearness change what drives us

In this episode of the Root Issues Podcast, we walk through John 21 and three questions worth sitting with honestly. John 1:12 - Receive, Believe, Become
2026/08/19
Receive, believe, become. Three words from John 1:12 that lay out how a person actually becomes a child of God — and the order matters more than most of us realize. In this episode of the Root Issues Podcast, we sit with one verse and talk about what it means to receive Christ, what believing in His name actually involves, and why becoming is something you're given rather than something you achieve.
John 13 - Washing of Feet
2026/08/11
In today`s episode, alongside our new guests, Adam and Julia, we dive into the significance of the washing of feet as a sign of love done by our Lord Jesus in the chapter 13 of the gospel of John.
Who Am I? What John 1 Says About Identity, Life, and Light
2026/08/05
Am I in darkness? It's a question most of us ask quietly, usually when we're unsure who we are or where our life is actually headed. In this episode of the Root Issues Podcast, we open the first verses of John 1 and talk about what Scripture says about identity, life, and light — and why the darkness never gets the final word. John begins his gospel not with a birth story but with a claim about who Jesus is from the very beginning: the Word, the source of life, and the light of men. That has direct consequences for how you understand yourself. If life and light come from Him, then your identity isn't something you build, perform for, or lose in a hard season — it's something you receive. We work through the questions a lot of people carry but rarely say out loud: How do I know if I'm walking in darkness? Why does my sense of identity keep shifting? And what does it actually mean that the light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it?

The Gospel of John - Your Identity in Christ
2026/07/22
Welcome back to the Root Issues Podcast and our series through the Gospel of John! In this episode, we explore one of the central themes of John's Gospel: identity — who Jesus is, and who we are because of Him. The Gospel of John was written so that we may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. But John doesn't stop there — he also shows us what that belief means for us: that to all who receive Him, He gives the right to become children of God. We look at how John reveals the identity of Jesus and how that truth transforms our own identity as believers. In a world where everyone is searching for identity, the Gospel of John gives us the answer: we discover who we truly are only when we discover who Jesus truly is.
