Description

What if your confidence didn’t depend on fitting into a box you never wanted to be in? Self(ish) Confidence is the podcast for women who are done trying to live by someone else’s timeline and ready to trust their own. Your confidence is your superpower but it can be hard to show up as your authentic self. When you’re caught in the scroll of everyone’s highlight reel or walking into a room full of strangers, it can be hard to show up as the truest version of yourself.  Comparison kicks in. Doubt creeps up. And suddenly, being your full, beautiful, authentic self feels... hard. Self(ish) Confidence is your permission slip to stop performing and start showing up as YOU. It is about finding your confidence, shining your light and taking action toward your unconventional life.  This podcast is all about building real, unapologetic confidence (the kind that doesn’t need approval). Whether your life looks unconventional, unexpected, or totally different than what you thought it would.. you're in the right place!  Each week, your host Jess Clerke, Confidence Coach and creator of the Self(ish) Sisterhood, will walk with you through mindset shifts, personal stories, and confidence-boosting truths to help you break free from people-pleasing, trust your gut, and build a life you’re wildly obsessed with. This isn’t just a podcast — it’s your reminder that you’re not too much, never behind, and more than worthy of the life you want.  Let’s build that belief together.

[325] Reclaim Your Voice, Vision + Light
2026/10/20
The world feels loud right now, and a lot of us are walking around with minds that never stop and plates that are already past full. So I want to start with one question that stopped me in my tracks: do you love the reason why you’re tired? If you do, that exhaustion can hold meaning. If you don’t, it’s a signal, not a personal failure and it might be time for rest, support, or a shift in how you’re living.  From there, I get real about identity shifts and the weird, vulnerable “crumbling” that can happen when life changes. Motherhood, career moves, relationships, and even a change of heart can shake the version of you that used to feel certain. We talk about why “taking up space” matters, why simple can still be big, and how confidence isn’t about performing a new personality. It’s about remembering who you are and letting her be seen again.  Then we break it down into three practical anchors: reclaiming your voice, reclaiming your vision, and reclaiming your light. That means stopping the habit of abandoning yourself to be accepted, finding safe spaces to practise telling the truth, and stepping off someone else’s timeline so you can build a life that actually fits. I also share why dimming your joy to keep others comfortable helps no one, and how your light can raise the energy in the room instead of dragging you down.  Before you go, I’m giving you a challenge you can try this week: one brave thing that lets you be seen, whether it’s sharing your idea in a meeting, wearing the outfit you’ve been saving, or celebrating a win out loud. If this lands with you, subscribe, share the episode with a friend who needs the reminder, and leave a review so more women can find this message. [BOOST] Notice The Small Things
2026/10/09
Tomorrow could be the best day of your life, the hardest day of your life, or the last one. That thought can feel heavy, but it can also be the cleanest reset we have when we’re stuck scrolling, overthinking, and telling ourselves we’ll “do it later.” I’m sharing a short holiday boost that cuts through the noise and brings you back to what matters.  We talk about why modern life leaves us overstimulated and unsure of our next step, even when the thing we want is simple. With Canadian Thanksgiving as the backdrop, I go beyond the usual gratitude script and focus on appreciation: the micro-moments we miss when our foot is on the gas pedal. Think hot coffee, garden tomatoes, the way trees move in the wind, or a neighbour chat on a dog walk. Those details are not cheesy, they are grounding, and they can shift your mood fast.  I also get honest about how powerful “thank you” can be in close relationships. Saying it more often is not formal, it’s connective. If you want something practical, I share an easy habit you can start today: keep a running list in your notes app or journal of small things you noticed, then revisit it when your brain starts racing.  If this gave you a little calm and a little spark, subscribe to Selfish Confidence, share it with a friend who’s feeling stretched thin, and leave a review so more people can find these quick boosts. What’s one small detail you can appreciate today? Join the Self(ish) Sisterhood: $33/month or $333/year. Sign up for the free Confidently You Mini Course! [323] Finish Confident In The Last 90 Days
2026/09/29
The last 90 days of the year can mess with your head. One minute you feel fired up to finish strong, and the next you are wrapped in a heated blanket watching your calendar disappear into Canada Thanksgiving, Halloween, and the full holiday season rush. I’m Jess, and I’m talking straight about that pressure pot feeling and the real-life reasons our goals start to wobble, especially when motivation comes in waves and life is doing the most. We get into how to tell the difference between a goal you truly want and a goal you think you “should” want. I walk you through a simple way to look at your vision board or goals list, prioritize your top three, and give yourself permission to remove what no longer fits. I also share a Human Design lens on motivation and self worth, including the ego centre, and why understanding your pattern can help you stop beating yourself up and start working with your energy instead of against it. Then we make it practical. You’ll hear how to build a clear, realistic plan for the next 90 days, how to scale goals so they are doable, and why slip ups are not failure. I talk about why all-or-nothing challenges can feel soul crushing, and how confidence actually grows through action and consistency. We finish with the piece that changes everything for follow-through: community, accountability, and having people who celebrate you even when you pivot. If this hit home, listen now, share it with a friend who needs a reset, and leave a review so more people can find the Selfish Confidence Podcast. [322] Stop Chasing Greener Grass
2026/09/22
The grass is always greener until you get there and realize it comes with closures, sickness, and a whole new set of problems. I’m coming to you with a slightly scratchy voice and a very real story about childcare curveballs, jealousy, and the myth that one external change will magically hand us freedom, energy, and peace. If you have ever thought, “If only I had that job, that relationship, that schedule, that support… then I’d finally feel good,” you are going to feel seen. We dig into how social media comparison quietly trains us to believe everyone else has it figured out, while we’re the only ones struggling. I share what I wish I understood sooner: the “answer” is rarely the thing you are chasing, and waiting for more time is a trap. Instead, we talk about taking small actions that actually build women’s confidence and self-confidence, from regulating your nervous system with simple practices to sending the message, posting the imperfect first draft, or starting the project you keep delaying. Then we go deeper with a set of questions you can use right away: are you craving the physical thing, or the feeling you think it will give you? Valued. Loved. Calm. Free. That clarity changes everything. I also share a tough but important reminder after a day of estate planning: life is finite, and I don’t want any of us reaching the end wishing we’d taken our shot. If you’re ready to stop scrolling and start watering your own lawn, hit play, then share this with a friend who’s stuck in “if only.” Subscribe, leave a review, and tell me what small step you’re taking this week. [321] Stop Letting Comparison Steal Your Pride
2026/09/08
That reflex to say “I’m fine” can be the loudest sign that you’re not giving yourself enough room to feel what’s true. I’m Jess, and I’m getting real about a tender season over here: daycare transition days, constant colds, the heaviness of drop-offs, and the pressure to show up like I’ve got it all figured out. I also share a bit of the behind-the-scenes excitement as Selfish Confidence heads toward year five with refreshed artwork, more conversational “sleepover” style chats, and guests I can banter with while keeping the vibe exactly the same: honest, warm, and for you. Then we get into the core mindset shift I can’t stop thinking about: judgment and comparison don’t just steal your joy, they steal your pride. A single comment about screen time flipped a switch in my brain and had me questioning my parenting in seconds. If you’ve ever heard how someone else does things and immediately felt “less than,” you’re going to feel seen. We talk about the grade-comparison trap, parenting milestones, social media metrics, and why different paths, temperaments, and timelines make these comparisons wildly unfair. You’ll leave with a grounded self-confidence practice you can start today: find one thing you did well, celebrate it like you would for your best friend, and write it down daily to build real evidence of your progress. If this hits home, subscribe, share it with a friend who needs a pride reset, and leave a review so more women can find this space. Join the Self(ish) Sisterhood: $33/month or $333/year. [320] Becoming Unrecognizable
2026/08/26
You know that moment when you catch your reflection and think, wait, I don’t even recognize myself? That’s what we’re unpacking today: the experience of becoming “unrecognizable,” how it can feel heavy and disorienting, and how it can also be the most powerful sign that you’re growing into a truer version of you. We start with a real-life reminder of identity outside of roles, like being a mom, a partner, or the person who keeps everything running. I share how doing updated brand photos brought me back to myself, and why having spaces where we can be fully seen matters more than ever. We talk about why confidence isn’t something you “put on,” it’s something you practice, especially when your life has changed and your old patterns no longer fit. Then we get practical. We walk through how to identify energy leaks, set boundaries when you can’t just quit or walk away, and create simple rituals to separate work stress from home life. We also talk about shaking up autopilot with tiny changes that wake your brain up, like sunlight before blue light, a different routine, or one small choice that reminds you you’re human, not a robot. And if you’ve been hiding in a darker season, we name that too and talk about how community support can help you find your way back. If this hits, take a minute to listen, share it with a friend who needs a reset, and subscribe so you don’t miss what’s next. [319] Overwhelm Reset: What is overwhelm trying to teach you?
2026/08/18
Overwhelm can make you feel like you’re failing at life when the truth is simpler: you’re carrying too much, for too long, with too few breaks. Today we’re getting real about that “chest-tightening” season where the calendar is packed, your brain is tired, and you’re tempted to either burn everything down or push through until you hit some magical date where you can finally breathe. I share what’s been happening behind the scenes after nearly five years of the podcast and why readjusting expectations is sometimes the most self-respecting move you can make.  We walk through a practical reset for stress and overwhelm that starts with matching your schedule to your actual energy, not the energy you wish you had. You’ll hear how to find pockets of rest inside a busy week, why “small actions” beat big plans when you’re running on fumes, and how setting goals your most tired self can still do builds real confidence over time. If you’ve been stuck in the cycle of getting excited, overcommitting, and then feeling like you “can’t stick to anything,” this will feel like a deep exhale.  We also talk about the part people skip: feeling the overwhelm instead of numbing it away. Your emotions are data, and they can point to what’s missing, like joy, play, and the kind of fun that lights you up. We end with ideas for bringing that energy back in small, doable ways, even in a full season of life. If this resonated, share it with a friend who’s maxed out, subscribe so you don’t miss what’s next, and please leave a rating or review so more people can find this support. [318] How to Trust Yourself When Life Changes Your Plans
2026/08/05
Your plan can be perfect and life can still change by lunch. I’m Jess, and today I’m talking straight to the part of you that wants to control every pawn on the chessboard, because I’ve been there too. When my childcare plan shifted unexpectedly, I had a choice: spiral, or pivot. I’m choosing a “30 days of fun” mindset and soaking up a season I might never get again, even if it isn’t the version of summer I imagined. From that real-life pivot, we go deeper into trusting yourself when things don’t make sense on paper. We talk intuition and Human Design authority, including why “trust your gut” isn’t one-size-fits-all, and how different authority types can shape your decision-making. I share what splenic authority feels like for me, that quiet instant hit that shows up once and disappears, and how learning to listen has helped me build self-trust and confidence. Then we get practical about taking action when excuses get loud. If time is your biggest roadblock, I break down how to use small time pockets, why messy action beats waiting for perfect conditions, and how simple visual reminders like a vision board can keep your goals from getting buried under real life. We also talk community, sisterhood support, and why consistent action is where confidence actually grows. If you’re craving more self confidence, better intuition, and a grounded way to chase your goals in a busy season, hit play. [317] Break The Thought Loop
2026/07/28
Your brain can turn one hard moment into a full-time soundtrack, and suddenly you’re living inside a rerun instead of your real life. I’m Jess, and I’m sharing what’s been hitting me hard lately: parenthood and childcare did not go the way I pictured, and it was dangerously easy to translate that into “I can’t create, I can’t grow, I can’t do my work right now.” That belief sounds practical, but it quietly becomes a cage. We dig into the cycle of replaying conversations, second-guessing what you said, and carrying that heaviness into everything else. I talk about how anxiety and “good girl” conditioning can keep us from using our voice, and why that loop drains your energy and steals your joy. If you’re a cycle breaker, a people pleaser, or a woman trying to lead with light while life feels sharp around the edges, this one is for you. Then we get practical with three tools to break the loop: seek joy (because spirals don’t thrive there), get into nature to regulate your nervous system, and flip the script the moment the old thought shows up. I also share a release ritual you can try today (write it down, burn it safely or tear it up, bury it), plus a visualization that sticks: treating your thoughts like cassette tapes, tossing the one that keeps you stuck, and choosing a new message on purpose. If affirmations feel weird, we talk options like sticky notes, an audio recording, and simple daily repetition. If this helped you, subscribe, share it with a friend who needs a gentle shake, and leave a quick rating and review so more women can find the show. [BOOST] What If Someone Needs What You Create?
2026/07/24
Your best ideas always show up at the worst time: when you’re driving, showering, or staring at the ceiling right before sleep. I'm jumping on the mic for a short bonus boost to turn that familiar spark into something bigger, a reminder that creation is a practice, not a personality trait. If you’ve been telling yourself you’re not consistent enough, not confident enough, or not “ready,” this is the kind of pep talk that actually tells the truth. We riff on the ripple effect of creators and mentors, including how the EmpowerHer podcast helped bring this show to life. Then we go straight into the sticky part: visibility. The fear of judgment is real, and so is the reality that you might feel awkward, sound cringe, or even cry before you hit upload. We don’t pretend that goes away. We talk about why it’s still worth doing, and how self confidence is built by showing up scared and doing it anyway. [315] How To Let Go Of Identities That No Longer Fit
2026/07/14
You can outgrow a label and still keep living like it’s true. We’re talking about the sneaky way old identities cling to us, even after we’ve healed, evolved, and built a life that proves we’re different now. I start with a rare quiet moment, a big love letter to this community, and a reminder that self-confidence isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about remembering who you are and letting that version of you take up space again. We also dig into practical tools for identity change: getting clear on the new version of you, catching your automatic “auto-reply” thoughts, and practicing a redo in real time. I share a helpful Human Design angle, the G Center or identity center, and how it can explain why some of us feel steady while others shapeshift around different people. Then we tackle comparison and social media boundaries with my favorite metaphor: we all have different microwaves, so stop timing your growth by someone else’s clock. If you’re ready to crumple up a label that no longer fits and let the real you lead, press play. [314] Seasons That Shake Your Identity
2026/07/07
Change can be exciting, but the part nobody warns you about is the identity whiplash. One day you’re handling life like you always have, and the next you’re in a new season, new schedule, new body, new priorities, and you’re still expecting the “old you” to keep up. I’m talking about the real impact of life transitions and why you don’t need to become someone brand new to grow, you need to remember who you are and come home to yourself. We start with a reminder to do everything with love, including how we treat ourselves when things feel messy. I share how community can feel “inconvenient,” but it’s also a privilege, and why support matters when you’re moving through a breakup, a new job, a move, parenthood, or any major shift that changes how you see yourself. We also get honest about the fear of judgment and why sharing your goals can feel vulnerable even with people who love you. If you’re in a season of change, come listen and be a little softer with yourself. [313] What If Your Best Summer Starts With Fun
2026/06/30
Summer doesn’t wait, and neither should your joy. I’m Jess, and I’m talking to the woman who loves a checklist but keeps putting her own fun at the bottom of it, the “I’ll relax after the dishes” mindset that quietly steals the best parts of the season. You’ll hear me unpack the difference between planning by time and planning by energy, plus practical, realistic ways to build an epic summer without needing a huge trip or a perfect schedule. Think tiny pockets of self-care, pairing your kids’ activities with something that fills you up, and creating a summer bucket list that includes you. If you’ve been craving more confidence, more fun, and a better work-life balance, this one is your permission slip. [312] The Things I Swore I'd Never Do
2026/06/23
“I would never do that” can feel like a boundary, but sometimes it’s a wall. Today we get honest about the weird moment when you look back at your past self and laugh because you did the exact thing you swore you’d never do and it actually made your life better. I’m sharing my own never say never turns, plus the mindset shift that helped me stop treating every decision like a locked door. Then we go deeper than “confidence tips.” I’ve been feeling a shift toward self reclamation: figuring out who you are without labels, noise, and old rules you inherited. Confidence becomes the result of knowing yourself, trusting your gut, and letting yourself evolve through big life transitions like relationships, motherhood, and career pivots. The question I leave you with is simple and uncomfortable in the best way: what would happen if you didn’t say never? If this hits home, subscribe so you don’t miss what’s next, share it with a friend who’s in a pivot, and leave a review so more women can find the show. What’s the biggest “never” you’ve outgrown? [311] Your Lack Of Confidence Is Showing 🙈
2026/06/09
The fastest way to spot a confidence dip is not in what you say, it’s in what you do next: the overexplaining, the defensiveness, the mental replay of a one-minute interaction that suddenly feels like a life review. If that sounds familiar, you’re going to feel seen here. We unpack the sneaky signs your self-confidence is slipping and why it often happens during big life transitions. I share what’s been lighting up my own “seeds of doubt” lately, from parenting choices and toddler tantrums to the weird emotions around starting daycare, balancing work and family, and even stepping into an updated personal style and rebrand. When we’re not fully grounded in our decisions, other people’s opinions can shake us fast, even when they mean well. We also talk about the reality that everyone has opinions, and how the Let Them perspective can help you stop making those opinions your responsibility. The goal is not to become louder or tougher. It’s to build self-trust, get clear on the season you’re in, and practice responding in a way that keeps your peace. Think of it as watering confidence instead of watering doubt. If you’re ready for a mindset reset that’s practical and honest, press play. After you listen, subscribe, share it with a friend who needs a boost, and leave a review so more women can find this confidence coaching energy. What seed of doubt are you working through right now?
