Episode 62 - John Fan
2026/01/18
Fresh from running over 3000km from Bejing's Great Wall to Hong Kong across 60 days with Jo Lodder, John tells TRAHK about how this incredible achievement was possible. He goes into detail about some of the challenges encountered, and also tells us about his passion for wanting to show his students (and their parents) that it's possible to be strong both physically and academically whilst caring for the less fortunate members of society. Learn how John became almost superhuman in the second half of the journey! Then Jenny Buck and Michael Gay recap the interview with some discussion of HK4TUC hopefuls.
Go to runchina.run to donate to the cause John and Jo were running for, which provides wheelchairs to disabled people in Hong Kong.

Episode 61 - Richard Kimber
2026/01/09
This one is a bit longer than usual because Richard has his fingers in so many pies in the Hong Kong trail running world! He's a filmmaker and broadcaster as well as a runner: he has been on both sides of the camera at HK4TUC, being one of the contributors to the Four Trails movie in 2021, then a runner and finisher in 2023. More recently, he has been a reporter at the WMTRC, in between finishing two 100-mile races within two months of each other, the UTMB and the Diagonale des Fous. Richard beams positivity about all his endeavours - we hope you find it infectious and that his wisdom will help all of you get through some tough challenges in the near future! Hang on until the end if you want to catch Jenny & Michael's gaffe where they both forgot about Ruth Croft... You can find Richard's superb drone videos on IG @the.drone.runner.
Episode 60 - Thorsten Bruce
2025/12/14
Fresh from completing a mammoth cycling challenge, ex-Hong Kong ultramarathon runner Thorsten tells Jenny about his 7-month journey from Harrogate to the Himalayas. Now living in the UK, Hong Kong trails are where Thorsten learned to get comfortable being uncomfortable, which helped him a lot during his 10-hour days cycling through deserts, mountains, and crazy roads in India. An epic 14,000km with over 100,000 metres of elevation across 20 countries. You'll hear about some of the highs and lows of his trip and what lessons he has taken away from his journey.
His challenge was a fundraiser for two fantastic causes which you'll hear about during the interview, and you can find links to his donation pages in his IG bio: https://www.instagram.com/thorstenbruce.adventurer.coach/ (along with some superb videos which he created every few days on the road)
This podcast is also available on YouTube (we highly recommend that because it contains a lot of great photos!): https://youtu.be/oK12GUoR-fE

2025/12/03
Coach to many elite ultra-runners, Andy Dubois tells Jenny about his Nepal training camp, starting off live from the Himalayas, then part 2 was recorded when they were back in their respective homes. You won't want to miss this wide-ranging discussion which covers Andy's training methods, what makes him different to some other coaches, the success of some of his athletes especially Sunmaya Budha, busting some myths that many people believe, and how people who don't have a coach can improve their running. For those who can't get enough of chat about trail running, hang on at the end to hear Jenny catching up with Michael Gay.

Episode 58 - Jacky Leung & Andre Blumberg
2025/09/22
An episode filled with as many highs and lows as an ultramarathon. The star of the Four Trails documentary talks candidly about his difficulties adjusting to life in the UK, the great feedback he received from the UK audience at the recent premiere in London, and the positive impact the release of the movie has had on his own life, a message which he wants to share to inspire others. Like the movie itself, this episode is about much more than trail running but about overcoming wider challenges in life. Including some discussion about factors which influenced his record-breaking success in the 2021 HKTUC, and about his recent adventures with Law Kai Pong in Snowdonia and the Alps. There's also a wrap-up chat with Andre Blumberg after 1:07:20 which you won't want to miss.

Episode 57 - Dina Bagale
2025/09/14
Dina Bagale, a Hong Kong resident originally from Nepal, is famous for finishing 2nd in the Rinjani 100 Ultra in 2024, which many people regard as being the toughest 100 miler in the world. Since that achievement, he has also been sneaking into the top 10 of many competitive races. Jenny Buck asks him about those achievements and his upcoming Vietnam Mountain Marathon race, his bucket list, and when he's going to try HK4TUC. Then catches up with Michael Gay for some chat about the interview.
