190: The Real Reason for Perimenopause Weight Gain | Karen Martel
2026/10/20
Perimenopause weight gain is the stubborn weight, often 15 to 20 pounds around your midsection, that shows up when progesterone and estrogen start to drop, sometimes as early as your late 30s. If you are eating clean, working out hard, and still watching the scale climb, this is not a willpower problem. It is a hormone problem, and no amount of calorie cutting, cardio, or supplements will fix it on its own. You deserve real answers, not another “you’re fine.”
Holistic leadership coach and women’s health advocate Chana Ross sits down with Karen Martel, certified hormone specialist, transformational nutrition coach, CEO of Midlife Solutions, and host of The Hormone Solution podcast. Karen shares how she gained 15 pounds at 42 while doing everything right, and why hormonal weight loss resistance and perimenopause weight gain need different approaches. You will learn which hormone labs to ask for and when in your cycle to test, why that 3 AM wake-up points to progesterone, estrogen, blood sugar, and cortisol, and what a GlycanAge study of 2,000 female twins found about accelerated aging in perimenopause. Karen also explains how she uses GLP-1 microdosing as the icing on the cake, not the whole plan. Being fine is no longer okay. This is your permission to get the care you deserve.
You’ll learn:
What hormonal weight loss resistance is, and why the calories in, calories out rule stops working when your cortisol is bottomed out and your progesterone is low.Why a calorie deficit and hours of cardio can make perimenopause weight gain worse, as your body downregulates your thyroid and metabolism to protect itself.Which hormone labs to ask your doctor for, including estradiol, progesterone, free testosterone, FSH, LH, and a full thyroid panel, and why testing on day 19 to 21 matters. Why you wake up at 3 AM in perimenopause, and how progesterone, estrogen, blood sugar dips, and cortisol-binding globulin each play a part in broken sleep. What a GlycanAge study of 2,000 female twins revealed: women aged an average of 9 years on the inside during perimenopause, with no accelerated aging seen on estrogen therapy. How GLP-1 microdosing works for midlife women, why most women do not need more than 5 milligrams of tirzepatide a week, and why protein and strength training are non-negotiable.Why “I’m fine” keeps women from getting care, and how Karen Martel reframes perimenopause as a permission slip to ask what you need to thrive in the second half of life.
We talk about:
00:00 Perimenopause weight gain and why fine is not okay
03:34 Karen Martel’s hormonal weight loss resistance story
09:56 Why a calorie deficit made her gain weight
13:16 Going into menopause at 42 and gaining 15 pounds
16:47 Why most doctors are not trained in menopause
20:18 How estrogen and progesterone affect anxiety and mood
22:27 Why do women keep saying I’m fine
30:32 Should you start with hormones or lifestyle changes
33:25 Which hormone labs should you ask your doctor for
38:00 GlycanAge study on perimenopause and accelerated aging

189: How to Manifest With Ancient Kabbalah, Not Hustle | Ayelet Polonsky
2026/10/13
Manifestation, when using the tools found in ancient Kabbalah, is the practice of co-creating your life with God through what you think, speak, and feel, starting from humility instead of control. If you have done the affirmations and the vision boards and still feel stuck, you may be skipping the inner work underneath. Maybe your first instinct is that you are doing something wrong. Maybe you keep hustling because slowing down to actually know yourself feels unsafe. That pressure is often what blocks the very thing you are trying to create.
On this episode of She Has the Audacity, holistic leadership coach and women's health advocate, Chana Ross sits down with Ayelet Polonsky, a trauma-informed facilitator, Kabbalistic manifestation expert, and creator of The Manifestation Method. After six years in India and eight years studying Kabbalah in Israel, Ayelet explains how pain builds your capacity to hold more light, why abracadabra means "I create as I speak," and how to tell intuition from fear. She shares how 21 days of practice led her to her husband, and why her business grew 10X once she stopped hustling and started receiving. Consider this your permission to let manifestation feel lighter.
You’ll learn:
What Kabbalistic manifestation is, and why Ayelet Polonsky starts with humility: know your what and your why, then surrender the how and the when to God. Why everything in your life is happening for you, not to you, and how that reframe gets you out of the victim, perpetrator, and savior triangle. How the Kabbalah teaching of light and vessels explains growth: bringing consciousness to your pain breaks a vessel, and the bigger vessel holds more light for manifestation. Why the word "want" signals lack, and how Ayelet used abracadabra, "I create as I speak," plus 21 days of visualization to meet her husband on day 21. How to tell intuition from your inner opponent: intuition feels instant, exciting, and expansive, while fear lingers and makes your whole nervous system constrict. Why your nervous system will never release more than you can safely hold, and why slowing down to know yourself feels so unsafe for high achievers. What the queen archetype teaches about divine feminine manifestation, and how tight shoulders, a sore neck, or burnout signal you are pushing instead of receiving.
We talk about:
00:00 Meet Ayelet Polonsky, creator of The Manifestation Method
04:49 How losing a friend at 20 sparked her spiritual awakening
06:11 What is Kabbalistic manifestation
09:01 Is this happening to you or for you

22:38 What abracadabra means and why want creates lack

188: Wanting More Out of Life: Stop Settling for Fine | Chana Ross
2026/10/06
Wanting more out of life is not a sign that you are ungrateful. It is a sign that you are done settling for fine. When the job is fine, the marriage is fine, the business is fine, and you are fine, that word quietly keeps you complacent and convinces you that mediocre is all you should expect. If you have ever downgraded a dream, told yourself it is not the right season, or felt greedy for wanting more when you already have enough, this solo episode is your permission slip.
Chana Ross, Holistic Leadership Coach, Women's Health Advocate, Pelvic Health Physiotherapist, and host of She Has The Audacity, makes the case that fine is the worst four-letter word in the English language. She draws on two ideas from Kabbalah, ratzon (desire) and the kli and the or (the vessel and the light), to show why your desire for more is sacred guidance, not ego. She shares why she chose to sell Vital Physiotherapy and Wellness when everything looked fine from the outside, names the three lies that keep women stuck in the status quo, and hands you six permission slips plus a simple 15 minute practice to start. You are allowed to be proud of the life you built and still believe something more is waiting for you.
You’ll learn:
Why fine is the worst four-letter word in the English language, and how saying "I'm fine" keeps you complacent and convinced that mediocre is all you should expect from your life. How wanting more out of life and gratitude can both be true, and why asking for an exceptional life is not the opposite of being grateful for the one you have. What the Kabbalah concepts of ratzon and the kli and the or teach about desire, and why the pull to create more is the spark within you working exactly as designed. The three lies that keep women stuck: that you should just be grateful, that it is not the right time, and that wanting more means burning your whole life down. Six permission slips from Chana Ross, including permission to change your definition of success, protect time for what lights you up, and ask for help instead of doing it all. How to start wanting more out of life without blowing it up: notice the recurring wish, make room for it with 15 minutes, and say it out loud to one person.
We talk about:
00:00 Why fine is the worst four-letter word
01:09 When your job, marriage, and business are just fine
02:42 Why are women so afraid to ask for more
04:20 Is it ever the right season to want more
05:00 Gratitude and wanting more out of life can coexist
05:34 Ratzon and what Kabbalah teaches about desire
07:53 Kli and or, why you are a vessel for light
09:41 Why Chana sold her clinic when everything was fine
11:36 Three lies that keep you stuck in the status quo
15:15 Six permission slips to want more than fine
20:15 Notice it, make room, and find one person
21:41 Why you should treat fine like a swear word

187: Energetic Integrity: The Secret to an Authentic Personal Brand | Liana Louzon
2026/09/29
Energetic integrity is the practice of making sure who you are on the inside matches how you show up on the outside, and it's the idea Liana Louzon built her jewelry brand, Rocking Vibe, around from day one. If you've ever felt like your business, your calendar, or even your closet is following someone else's rules instead of your own, this conversation names exactly why that feels so off, and what it takes to fix it. Liana walks through how becoming a mother of three cracked open her old definition of success, why she left a career as a professional photographer to design crystal jewelry that refuses seasonal trends and mass production, and how she built a brand that lets women stay connected to their own intuition instead of chasing someone else's checklist.
Chana Ross, Holistic Leadership Coach and host of She Has The Audacity, guides Liana through the mindset, the mantras, and the daily practice that keep her grounded as a founder. You'll walk away with a concrete tool for finding your own version of calibration, the story behind Rocking Vibe's intention pyramid packaging, and the exact mantra Liana repeats to herself before every big moment. If you've been told to hustle harder, launch more, and fit the norm, this episode is the permission slip to build it your own way instead.
You’ll learn:
Why Liana left a career as a professional photographer to build Rocking Vibe, and how becoming a mother forced her to redefine her own measuring stick for success. What energetic integrity means and why Liana built her entire jewelry brand around making sure her inside matches her outside, instead of chasing seasonal trends. How to find your own version of calibration, whether that is making jewelry, running, or standing in wild water, so you can hear your intuition again. Why Rocking Vibe refuses mass production and seasonal collections, and what that decision has meant for a brand built on individuality instead of fitting the norm. The story behind the Rocking Vibe intention pyramid, and how writing down a single intention can change the way you show up in your business and your life. The mantra Liana repeats before every big moment, and why choosing love and trust over fear is the real work behind building an authentic personal brand. What Liana would tell her younger self about trusting the process, and why comparison is the fastest way to lose your own path as a founder.
We talk about:
00:00 How motherhood led to the jewelry brand
00:20 What is your real measuring stick for success
02:36 Liana's daily practice for hearing her intuition
04:52 Why she skips seasonal launches and mass production

186: Why We Rebranded To Help Women Trust Themselves More | Simona Costantini & Chana Ross
2026/09/22
Rebranding your podcast can be about more than growth, it can be about giving other women permission to stop playing small, and that is exactly why She Has the Audacity relaunched. If you have ever downplayed your own ambition, told yourself your idea was not a big deal, or waited on someone else's approval before making a bold move, this episode was made for you. Host Chana Ross sits down with Simona Costantini to talk about why they chose to evolve the show instead of ending it, and why every woman deserves to hear that her next step does not need permission from anyone but herself.
Chana Ross, holistic leadership coach and host of She Has the Audacity, opens the show's official relaunch with Simona Costantini, founder and CEO of VOLT Productions and host of Happiness Happens. They rebranded specifically for the women in this audience who are quietly outgrowing their old story, whether that shows up as a business, a relationship, or a version of themselves they have been protecting. Simona shares the throughline she uses with VOLT clients to find the message underneath the noise, and Chana names the permission slip she is finally giving herself after 185 episodes. If you are one of the women this episode was made for, you will know it. Give yourself permission to take the next step.
You’ll learn:
Why we rebranded She Has the Audacity specifically for women who are outgrowing their old story. How to know when your podcast, your business, or your own life has outgrown the version you started withThe permission slip Chana is finally giving herself and every woman listening before her own next bold, uncomfortable step. Why Simona believes the universe is never on a budget and how that belief shifts what women allow themselves to ask for.Why messing up your first attempt at something new is part of the process, not proof that you should stop trying at all. What advice Simona would give her younger self about boldness, self trust, and no longer waiting for permission.
We talk about:
00:00 Chana introduces the She Has the Audacity relaunch
02:39 Why rebranding is a co-created evolution not a restart

185: We're Back: My Midlife Reinvention and Relaunch | Chana Ross
2026/09/15
Midlife reinvention means rebuilding your business, your parenting, and your sense of purpose all at the same time, and it rarely happens on your schedule.
If you've spent years pouring yourself into a business or a cause while your kids grew up in the background, this episode is for you. After an unannounced break, Chana Ross returns to explain exactly what pulled her away from the mic in the fall of 2025 and what it taught her about time, priorities, and where her energy is actually needed most. This is a raw, real-time look at midlife awakening, empty nest transition, and the quiet questions that come with reaching a new stage of life and business.
Chana Ross, Holistic Leadership Coach, Women's Health Advocate, and Pelvic Health Physiotherapist, hosts She Has The Audacity and built Vital Physiotherapy and Wellness from the ground up as a self-described accidental entrepreneur.
In this episode she shares the biggest update behind her break: Vital Physiotherapy and Wellness officially joined the Bravella Health family in January 2026, becoming part of an online perimenopause and menopause care clinic so clients get seamless, one-stop support instead of juggling multiple providers. You'll hear what led to that decision, how she's renegotiating time between business and family now that her oldest is leaving the nest, and what's ahead for the show. Press play and come back for what's next.
You’ll learn:
Why Chana stepped away from She Has The Audacity in the fall of 2025 and what was really happening behind the scenes during the break. How Vital Physiotherapy and Wellness became part of the Bravella Health family in January 2026 and what that merger means for client care. What pelvic health physiotherapy has to do with midlife reinvention, and how Chana's accidental entrepreneur story shaped her whole career. How to recognize when your business or your family needs more of your time, and how Chana is renegotiating that balance right now.Why a graduating teenager and an empty nest can trigger a midlife awakening even when your parenting years are far from over. What questions to ask about purpose and fulfillment when the thing that used to light you up stops feeling like enough. What's coming next on She Has The Audacity, including deeper conversations on midlife, purpose, and perimenopause and menopause care.

Stepping Into A New Season
2025/12/16
Hi everyone
I wanted to take a moment today to share something with you directly. She Has The Audacity has had such an incredible year — the conversations, the connection, the depth we've explored together… it truly means more to me than I can say.
And as someone who believes deeply in intentional leadership — in aligning how we work with how we want to live — I'm practicing what I teach.
So, I'm pressing pause for a short while.
Not because anything is ending but because we are in the process of building and growing. There are some exciting shifts happening behind the scenes — new voices to bring in, new conversations to explore, new ways to support you as you design what's next in your life and leadership.
This break is a moment to reflect, refine, and build something even more aligned with the mission of this show: To create a space where women can tell the truth, lead with purpose, and choose what feels real — not just what looks impressive.
I'll be back with fresh episodes in the new year. In the meantime, if you're new here or catching up, this is a perfect moment to revisit past conversations that resonated — or discover the ones you haven't heard yet.
Thank you for being here. Thank you for giving me the space to grow and the support. Thank you for listening, reflecting, and showing up for these deeper conversations — for supporting our community and for supporting yourselves.
I can't wait to share what's coming next.
Rest as a Vital Sign: Women's Sleep, Hormones, and the Nervous System with Dr. Leigha Saunders [REPLAY]
2025/11/25
Rest isn't a luxury to earn, it's a biological need that tells the truth about how we're living.
In this episode of She Has The Audacity, I sit down with Dr. Leigha Saunders, naturopathic doctor, sleep expert, and founder of The Sleep Fix, for a conversation about what our sleep is really trying to tell us.
Through her own postpartum experience and years of clinical practice, Leigha has seen how exhaustion isn't a sign of weakness, but information, a reflection of nervous system overload, hormone shifts, and the invisible weight of responsibility women carry. Her work reframes rest as a form of self-leadership: the foundation for clarity, health, and purpose.
Together, we explore how to rebuild a relationship with rest in every season of life, from PMS to postpartum to perimenopause, and what changes when we start treating sleep as a signal, not a symptom.
Here's what you'll take away from this episode: ✨ Why sleep is a mirror for the nervous system — and a vital sign of wellbeing ✨ How hormonal transitions shape our rhythms, energy, and emotional capacity ✨ The mental load's role in restlessness, anxiety, and 3 a.m. wake-ups ✨ Why sleep "hacks" and supplements only go so far without alignment ✨ How self-trust, boundaries, and nourishment restore deep rest ✨ Practical tools for understanding — and honouring — your body's cues
This is a conversation about coming home to your body. About redefining productivity as presence, and remembering that rest isn't what you step away from — it's what allows you to return to yourself.

Uplevelling the Status Quo of Healing: A Biopsychosocial Approach to Care with Carolyn Vandyken
2025/11/18
What if meaningful healing isn't about fixing what's "wrong," but about understanding the full human experience behind pain?
In this episode of She Has The Audacity, I sit down with Carolyn Vandyken—physiotherapist, educator, speaker, and co-owner of Reframe Rehab—for a conversation that reimagines how we approach pain, healing, and healthcare.
Carolyn has been a leader in advancing the biopsychosocial model of care, bringing together the physical, emotional, and social realities that shape our well-being. Through her own evolution as a clinician, she has learned that treating the body alone is not enough — and that empowering the nervous system, behavior change, and self-trust are essential to lasting recovery.
Together, we explore why physiotherapy and healthcare must move beyond "fixing," how language can either take away or restore hope, and why curiosity may be the most powerful clinical tool we have.
Here's what you'll take away from this episode: ✨ What the biopsychosocial model actually looks like in practice ✨ How understanding the nervous system shifts outcomes for patients in pain ✨ Why hope, communication, and compassion are clinical interventions ✨ How pelvic health, musculoskeletal care, and pain science are deeply connected ✨ The mindset shift from treating tissues → facilitating transformation ✨ Why slowing down and trusting curiosity makes us better clinicians and humans
This conversation is an invitation to see care differently — not as doing something to someone, but as creating the conditions that allow them to heal.

Design Your Life: Resilience, Pattern‑Breaking & Intentional Growth with Dr. Stacy Thomas [REPLAY]
2025/11/11
Not every turning point announces itself. Sometimes it's a quiet decision to close one door—so a truer one can open.
In this episode of She Has The Audacity, I sit down with Dr. Stacy Thomas—clinical psychologist, speaker, and founder of the Design Your Life Centre—for a conversation about designing a life from the inside out: breaking unhelpful patterns, trusting what you know, and building practices that support who you're here to become.
Stacy shares how her path shifted from a corporatized health system to a values‑driven practice, why fertility counseling became an unexpected entry point to deeper work, and how she integrates CBT, mindfulness, high‑performance skills, and clinical hypnosis in service of resilience. We talk about pain as a teacher, the difference between intentions and goals, and what changes when you stop being a tourist in your life—and become the traveler.
This is a conversation about alignment over obligation, about choosing presence instead of perfection, and about creating structures that help you keep showing up as your authentic self.
Here's what you'll take away from this episode: ✨ The moment Stacy chose to close a familiar door—and what clarity followed
✨ Why fertility counseling became a catalyst
✨ How pattern‑breaking actually works
✨ Pain as information—not identity
✨ Intentions vs. goals
✨ The traveler vs. tourist mindset
✨ Democratizing mental health education
If you've been sensing it's time to do things differently, this episode offers language, tools, and a grounded path forward.

2025/11/04
Changing direction in business isn't just a strategic move—it's a personal one. And when your identity is intertwined with your work, choosing a new path can feel equal parts liberating and heartbreaking.
In this episode of She Has The Audacity, I sit down with Monica Gold—entrepreneur, creator, and founder of Find Your Fierce and Go Laser—for a conversation about evolving careers, shifting business models, and giving yourself permission to build a life that fits who you are now.
Monica built a powerful global community through dance. And then—at a moment when success seemed to demand expansion—she chose to close the doors and redefine her direction. We talk about the emotions of stepping away from something beloved, the courage required to choose differently, and what it looks like to create from alignment instead of obligation.
This conversation offers an honest look at what happens behind the scenes when you outgrow a dream—and decide to move forward anyway.
Here's what you'll take away from this episode: ✨ What it looked like for Monica to transition from one successful chapter into another ✨ How motherhood clarified her priorities and shaped her business approach ✨ Why letting go can be both emotional and deeply empowering ✨ The role of values in making strategic and personal decisions ✨ How to explore a new direction without needing certainty first ✨ What it means to trust a shift — even when the previous story still "worked"

The Art of Empathy with Kim Smiley [REPLAY]
2025/10/28
Empathy begins as a feeling—but becomes powerful when we let it guide what we create and how we lead.
In this episode of She Has The Audacity, I sit down with Kim Smiley—artist, designer, and founder of The Empathy Effect—for a conversation about building from intuition, leading with compassion, and creating a business that feels as human as it is impactful.
Kim shares how her path unfolded from nonprofit leadership to wearable art, and how trusting her quiet instincts led to the creation of a movement centered on empathy, artistry, and inclusion. We talk about what happens when you choose to listen inwardly, even when logic tells you otherwise—and how empathy, when practiced daily, becomes a radical act of courage and connection.
This is a conversation about trusting your inner knowing, about weaving values into your work, and about letting empathy be both your compass and your craft.
Here's what you'll take away from this episode: ✨ What it looked like to move from nonprofit leadership to creative entrepreneurship ✨ How intuition shaped Kim's transition and continues to guide her work ✨ Why empathy isn't softness—it's strength in action ✨ The origins of The Empathy Effect and how it sparked a global movement ✨ How boundaries can help sustain compassion without depletion ✨ What it means to create from emotional intelligence—not urgency
If you've ever felt torn between logic and intuition, or wondered how empathy can coexist with ambition, this episode offers a reminder that both can lead—and that the most meaningful work begins when you let your heart have a seat at the table.

Pleasure, Worth, and Rewriting the Script: Unpacking the Layers of Low Desire with Dr. Jordin Wiggins [REPLAY]
2025/10/21
We tend to equate vitality with energy, connection, and desire—but when those begin to fade, it can leave us questioning where our sense of aliveness has gone. Many women are left without the language—or the support—to understand why. What's often dismissed as a hormone issue or "just stress" can point to something deeper: disconnection from self, unspoken shame, and internalized beliefs that prioritize performance over pleasure.
In this episode of She Has The Audacity, I sit down with Dr. Jordin Wiggins—naturopathic doctor, sexual health disruptor, and author of The Pink Canary—for an honest, layered conversation about libido, stress, worthiness, and what it takes to rebuild a relationship with desire on your own terms.
Jordin shares the experiences that shaped her approach to women's sexual health, including her own journey through pain, perfectionism, and burnout. We talk about how over-functioning shows up in intimacy, why desire can be hard to access even when everything "looks fine," and the ways community care can shift the stories we carry.
This is not a conversation about quick fixes. It's about naming what's real, unpacking what's been inherited, and choosing a new kind of relationship with your body, your needs, and your voice.
Here's what you'll take away from this episode: ✨ Why libido doesn't always improve when the "physiology" is addressed ✨ How shame and silence shape women's experiences with sex and pleasure ✨ What Anhedonia can teach us about burnout and numbness ✨ The role of communication—in and out of the bedroom—in building trust and safety ✨ How worthiness impacts a woman's ability to ask for, receive, and enjoy pleasure ✨ What shifts when we stop fixing and start listening to what's actually true
If you've ever wondered where your spark went—or if you're craving more depth in your relationship with your body and your desires—this episode will meet you there.

Leading Yourself First: Building Trust, Awareness, and Authentic Connection with Rachel Weinstein [REPLAY]
2025/10/14
Leadership starts from the inside. Before we can guide a team, we have to understand how we show up our patterns, our boundaries, and the impact we have on the people around us.
In this episode of She Has The Audacity, I sit down with Rachel Weinstein, executive coach and leadership advisor, for a thoughtful conversation about leading from self-awareness. With over 15 years of experience coaching leaders across industries, Rachel shares how effective leadership isn't about control or perfection, it's about clarity, connection, and learning to trust yourself first.
