Description
Low Capacity Leader is a podcast for pastors, ministry leaders, and anyone carrying more than they were meant to carry alone. Hosted by Kris Kilgore, the lead pastor of Fairforest Church of God, each episode goes beyond the Sunday sermon to explore the biblical insights, practical applications, and behind-the-scenes conversations that don’t always fit into a weekend message. We believe God often does His greatest work through leaders who recognize their limitations.

Doubt, Sacrifice & Covenant - Episode 15
2026/11/05
In Episode 15 of the *Low Capacity Leader* podcast, the Fairforst team dives deep into the covenant between God and Abram in Genesis 15.
Moving beyond the Sunday sermon, they explore the raw humanity of biblical figures, challenging the idea that we must be flawless "superheroes" to walk with God.
This conversation tackles the tension between faith and doubt, and looks at how our questions aren't liabilities—they are opportunities for God to reveal His sufficiency. We talk about the beauty of "imputation," the importance of defending the sacrifices God has entrusted to you, and the vital difference between human effort and resting in God’s promise.
Whether you’re feeling paralyzed by life’s challenges or trying to earn your way into God’s favor, this episode is a reminder that you don't have to be the Messiah—you just need to rest in the One who already is.
Established in the Gap
2026/10/22
In Episode 13 of the *Low Capacity Leader* podcast, Krisr and Amber dive deep into Amber’s recent sermon on the biblical concept of being "established." Anchored in Genesis 17, they explore the Hebrew word *kum*—to stand upright—and what it means for God’s promises to act as a protective, authoritative structure over our lives.
This candid conversation tackles the difficult "gap" between receiving a promise and seeing its fulfillment. Whether you are in a season of exile, waiting, or feeling outmatched by life’s "Goliaths," this episode offers a powerful shift in perspective. They discuss how covenant identity—not our own strength or strategy—is the secret weapon that allows us to operate from a place of victory.
From wrestling references to the profound comfort of Charles Spurgeon’s insights, we are reminded that the prize is always God’s presence.
If you’ve been feeling downtrodden or unsettled, this episode is a call to stand firm. Discover why the enemy has no rank, only threats, and learn how to hum a pleasant tune even when the world’s thunder roars. Tune in to be encouraged, challenged, and reminded that you are established by the mighty Word of God.
Hope in the Messy Middle
2026/10/15
This week we explore the profound humanity of Abram’s journey in Genesis 15, examining how God meets us in our deepest moments of doubt and frustration.
We look at the concept of "sacred frustration," explaining how God uses the "messy middle" of our spiritual lives to shape our character and dismantle false securities. There's a necessary conversation about the "spoiler paradox" of faith and the necessity of stepping out of our comfortable "tents," they offer encouragement for leaders and believers navigating seasons of waiting and delayed promises. Whether you are a pastor, parent, or simply seeking to align your perspective with God’s sovereign view, this episode provides a hopeful reminder that God is actively working beneath the surface of your story.
The Relief of Sovereignty
2026/10/08
In this episode, we unpack the enigmatic figure of Melchizedek, challenging the tendency to get lost in divisive theological debates that obscure the beauty of Christ in this Old Testament character.
We also look at the reason stewarding victory can be harder than enduring battle, how to find an "anchor" in your own valleys, and why God’s preemptive word is your greatest defense against the enemy of your life.
From reframing tithing as a posture of relief rather than obligation to embracing the liberating truth that you don't have to be the source of your own success, this episode offers a refreshing look at what it truly means to live in a place of humility and sovereignty.
A Culture of Honor
2026/10/01
What does it really mean to live a life of honor?
In Episode 10 of the Low Capacity Leader Podcast, we take a deeper look at the biblical meaning of honor and why it matters in our relationship with God, our relationships with others, and the way we carry ourselves.
Honor isn't worship. It isn't putting someone on a pedestal. And it isn't simply saying nice things about someone once a year. Biblical honor recognizes the value God has placed on people and allows that recognition to become visible in the way we speak, serve, respect, and live.
We talk about:
• Why humility comes before honor
• The three directions of honor: honoring God, honoring others, and living honorably
• Why honor and worship are not the same thing
• The connection between honor, value, price, weight, and glory
• What David and Saul teach us about living a life of honor
• Why honor should be more than a private feeling
• Honoring pastors, parents, spouses, leaders, and the people who have impacted our lives
• Why the Kingdom of God is a kingdom of honor
• How we can move from occasional moments of honor to becoming a culture of honor
Romans 12:10 says, “Outdo one another in showing honor.”
The question isn't simply, “Who deserves honor?”
The question is: Am I becoming a person who lives a life of honor?

Faith Is a Life, Not a Leap
2026/09/24
What if faith isn’t about waiting for the next big moment—but learning to recognize God in the ordinary ones?
In Episode 9 of the Low Capacity Leader Podcast, we talk about the faithfulness of God and how seeing Him changes the way we live, lead, and follow Him.
From Abraham’s journey of faith to Peter’s failure, from personal testimonies to the mundane moments of everyday life, this conversation explores what it means to look at God long enough that His character begins to shape our own.
We talk about:
• Why faith is a life, not just a leap
• Finding God’s faithfulness in ordinary and difficult moments
• How waiting can become part of our spiritual formation
• Why our focus should be on God rather than people or circumstances
• What “if we are faithless, He remains faithful” means for us
• How God uses everyday moments to form us into the image of Christ
• Learning to recognize what God has already done instead of constantly asking Him to prove Himself
• Why Tuesday mornings can matter just as much as Sunday mornings
Sometimes God’s greatest work isn’t happening in the moments everyone sees. Sometimes He is forming us in the quiet, the waiting, the mundane, and even the frustrating moments of life.
God is faithful—not just in the big moments, but in all of them.

Preparation Built on Promise

Formed, Not Condemned
2026/09/10
What if the trials, conflicts, and uncomfortable moments in our lives aren’t simply things God wants to remove—but moments He can use to form us?
In Episode 7 of the Low Capacity Leader podcast, we look back at Genesis 14 and the story of Abram and Lot. The conflict and war in the passage reveal something deeper: where Lot had chosen to live and the compromises that had slowly taken root in his life.
But the conversation goes much further.
We talk about the difference between condemnation and formation, and why God’s goal for our lives is not simply forgiveness or avoiding hell. We were saved from something, but we were also saved to something—to be formed into the image of Christ.
We discuss:
• How conflict can reveal what is already inside us
• Why God is more concerned with forming His people than condemning them
• The difference between following rules and being led by the Spirit
• Why we need to say “yes” to God before we spend our lives saying “no” to temptation
• How sin deforms the image of God in us—and how Jesus restores it
• What Jesus meant when He said, “Give to God what belongs to God”
• Why the church should feel more like a household than a stage
• How authenticity, not performance, creates space for ministry
• Why even uncomfortable moments can become opportunities for God to shape us
The goal isn’t simply to make sure we’re going to heaven. The invitation of Jesus is to come follow Him—to walk with Him, surrender to Him, and allow Him to continually transform us into His image.

Lift Your Eyes, Keep Walking
2026/09/03
What does it look like to actually trust God when His way is harder, more uncomfortable, or different from what we would choose?
In Episode 6 of the Low Capacity Leader Podcast, Pastor Kris Kilgore and Pastor Amber continue walking through the story of Abram in Genesis 13 and explore what happens when we allow God to lift our eyes and redefine what we call valuable.
Abram and Lot looked at the same land, but they saw two very different things. Lot allowed what looked valuable to determine his decision, while Abram waited for God to speak. From there, the conversation moves into the uncomfortable places of faith—learning to trust God’s perspective, stepping outside of comfort, and allowing God to determine the direction of our lives.
The conversation eventually leads to a powerful picture: faith has footprints.
God told Abram to walk the land He had given him. That walking wasn't merely a one-time action—it became a lifestyle. What would it look like for us to continually “walk” the promises, responsibilities, relationships, homes, churches, and places God has entrusted to us?
We talk about:
• Why separation can bring clarity
• The difference between an easier life and a better life
• How discomfort can keep us from spiritual apathy
• Why our actions reveal whether we truly believe God knows more than we do
• Letting God—not culture—define our treasure
• The importance of staying aligned with where God has called us
• Putting “feet to faith” through action
• Leaving spiritual footprints in our homes, churches, and families
• What it means to establish and defend the boundaries God has entrusted to us
Genesis 13 reminds us that sometimes God doesn't simply tell us where to look—He tells us to lift our eyes, see what He has given us, and walk it out.
Keep walking. Keep praying. Keep trusting. Keep leaving footprints.
Welcome to the Low Capacity Leader Podcast, where we go beyond the Sunday sermon to talk about biblical leadership, ministry, faith, and the real-life conversations that happen behind the scenes.

Beyond the Shadow
2026/08/27
What happens when pressure, conflict, and testing reveal what is really inside of us?
In Genesis 13, Abram and Lot face a moment of conflict that forces Lot to step out from under Abram’s shadow and make a choice of his own. What Lot chooses reveals more than his preferences—it reveals his priorities, his desires, and ultimately what he values most.
In this episode of the Low Capacity Leader Podcast, we talk about how God can use testing as a diagnostic tool to expose what needs to be formed in us. We explore the difference between unity and uniformity, why conflict isn't always something to avoid, and how our responses under pressure can reveal the condition of our hearts.
We also ask a difficult question: What’s your price?
Lot saw a land that looked like the Garden of the Lord and also looked like Egypt. His choice reminds us that we cannot live divided between the presence of God and the desires of the world. We talk about spiritual compromise, idolatry, humility, and why staying close to the things of Sodom eventually leads us further than we intended to go.
But this conversation isn't just about Lot. It's about us.
What does your prayer life say about how important prayer really is to you? What comes out of you when you're under pressure? What are you looking at? And are the people following you being formed by your shadow—or simply concealed by it?
As leaders, parents, pastors, mentors, and believers, our lives are constantly casting a shadow. What we focus on, pursue, and value will influence the people around us.
Don't let the thing you're looking at be the last thing you look at. Lift your gaze.

What Storyline Are You Living?
2026/08/20
This is Episode 4 of the Low Capacity Leader podcast, recorded on August 19, 2026. The pastors of Fairforest Church of God delve into the biblical story of Abram and Lot from Genesis 13. Following the Sunday service Pastor Kris and Pastor Amber take a few minutes to expand on the sermon's initial themes. They explore the concept of "living in the shadow" of a spiritual leader, using the relationship between Abram (Abraham) and his nephew Lot as a case study. The discussion highlights how Lot prospered by following Abram, who was passionately pursuing God. This created a shadow of blessing that benefited those around Abram.
The conversation emphasizes a crucial turning point for everyone: the moment you must step out from under a mentor's shadow and rely on what you have learned. What you do in that moment of exposure reveals your true character and the narrative you have chosen for your life. The hosts discuss the powerful quote, "When you're born, you look like your parents, but when you die, you look like your choices," underscoring that while we can glean wisdom from leaders, our personal choices ultimately define us. This leads to a reflection on the kind of spiritual shadows leaders are casting and whether they would be proud or afraid to see their own. Ultimately, the only eternally safe shadow to remain in is that of Jesus, which covers our brokenness but should also inspire effort to become more like Him. The episode concludes by tying these ideas to the concept of being "pressed"—like an olive for oil or a grape for wine—and how life's pressures reveal the true storyline we live by, whether it's one of faith and purpose or one of simply enjoying the blessings of another's pursuit.
