HOW TO CHANGE A SYSTEM: When The System Punishes You For Trying To Change it!
2026/10/26
Good American’s creator pop-up backlash. Paris Hilton’s ADHD event and the fight over doing awareness “correctly.” Victoria’s Secret returning with new language around an old fantasy. Kids being blamed for living online after we made the real world harder to access. And the midterm argument over third-party voting.
This week on Healing Is Hilarious, Rachel LaForce asks what it actually takes for cultural change to count.
We know the vocabulary of progress. Inclusive. Neurodivergent. Body positive. Community. Choice. But what happens when the systems underneath the new language still reward the old behavior?
How do you change a system when the system punishes you for trying to change it?

THE OLD WORLD ISN’T QUITE OVER: Why Everything Feels So Weird
2026/10/20
Shane Gillis calls women “whores” on SNL and people rush to defend the joke. The new White House press secretary’s legal credentials become a national credibility question. HBO brings Girls back a decade later. The internet keeps insisting reality split in 2020. And creators are quietly turning themselves into media companies.
This week on Healing Is Hilarious, Rachel LaForce looks at five wildly different headlines that all seem to be telling us the same thing: the old world isn’t quite over, and the new world isn’t quite here.
Maybe that’s why everything feels so loud, unresolved and strangely familiar. Old rules still have power. Old institutions are losing authority. New systems are emerging before we’ve agreed on what should replace the old ones.
Chaos is loud. Change is quiet.
Comedy. Clarity. Culture.

FOLLOW THE MONEY: Why Women Control Culture by 2023
2026/10/13
Women are projected to control $113 trillion in global investible wealth by 2030. Films written by women are showing stronger median returns. WAGs are turning proximity to sports culture into brands of their own. Fertility is becoming something financial systems are actually being built around. And somehow, despite all available evidence, women are still getting involved with Elon Musk.
This week on Healing Is Hilarious, Rachel LaForce follows the money to ask a bigger question: if women are gaining unprecedented economic power, are we simply going to become more powerful inside the systems we inherited - or are we going to build different ones?
Because money doesn’t just buy things. It funds stories, systems, products, businesses, politics, media and culture. Culture follows capital. And increasingly? We’re the capital.
Comedy. Clarity. Culture.

Pay Attention: Why Everybody Wants Yours
2026/10/06
Your attention might be the most valuable thing you keep giving away for free.
This week, Rachel connects the Cornell sexual-assault allegations and the question of who gets believed; the attention economy; the internet's obsession with cortisol, dopamine, nervous-system regulation and "eldest daughter" language; the viral period-blood + moon-water plant rabbit hole; and a tiny SNL moment between new cast members Grace Reiter and Saidah Belo-Osagie.
The question under all of it: Who gets your attention - and who deserves it?
Comedy. Clarity. Culture.Tune out, tune in. Love you, mean it.
TWO THINGS CAN BE TRUE AT ONCE AND WHY THE INTERNET HATES NUANCE: AI, CREATE AND CULTIVATE, UNWELL, JONES ROAD & CHANNING TATUM
2026/09/29
This week on Healing is Hilarious, Rachel LaForce connects five stories that look completely unrelated - until they don't.
Molly Simms and Bobbi Brown raise questions about creative ownership, while independent creators are challenging what happens when bigger media companies enter territory they say looks suspiciously familiar. HELLO ALEX COOPER AND UNWELL. Zelda Williams' fight against AI recreations of Robin Williams opens a much bigger conversation about consent, identity and who owns our likeness. Create & Cultivates mixed feedback becomes a case study in why gratitude and criticism can coexist. Channing Tatum's alleged burner-account saga shows how quickly the internet turns a theory into a story. and the fall equinox gives us the perfect place to land: integration. The throughline? Two things can be true at once.
Nuance is not weakness. It is the ability to hold complexity without abandoning discernment. Healing Is Hilarious is a pop culture podcast connecting the headlines to the human experience.

REALITY HAS JUMPED THE SHARK: Why Reality Feels Fake and Other Stories About Women
2026/09/22
Reality has an image problem. This week, Rachel connects Sydney Sweeney’s latest controversy, five of six female acting Emmy winners being over 50, Little Tikes draining the color from childhood, Mitch McConnell returning to the Senate and a beauty magazine using AI-generated women to sell real women cosmetic procedures.
The pattern? Real women are too sexual, older women are treated as disposable, real children are too colorful and real faces are no longer flawless enough to sell beauty.
A funny, furious look at what disappears when aesthetics become a system of control.
THE GOOD WOMAN TRAP: Why Society Hates Multifaceted Women
2026/09/15
Why are we still so uncomfortable with women who are more than one thing at once?
This week, Alanis Morrisette reveals how profoundly unwell she was while remaining highly functional. Pamela Anderson wears makeup again - and somehow breaks the internet’s new purity standard. Ashley St. Clair alleges Elon Musk tried to purchase her silence. Alex Cooper’s Unwell empire faces business setbacks and disputed workplace allegations. And a new Elizabeth Holmes documentary reminds us that yes, some women can actually be the villain.
These women are not morally equivalent. But each one breaks a binary we’ve been taught to believe: capable or sick, liberated or glamorous, wrong or deserving of rights, powerful or complicit, marginalized or culpable.
Together, they expose “The Good Woman Trap” - the belief that a woman must be likable, consistent, innocent or ideologically pure before we defend her humanity.
Real equality doesn’t require us to prove that women are always good. It requires us to recognize that women are fully human: brilliant, damaged, generous, selfish, powerful, vulnerable, principled, hypocritical and occasionally terrible.
Women can be anything. Unfortunately. And thank God.

FAKE IT TIL YOU MAKE IT IS BAD ADVICE: Why Confidence is Overrated and Capability Guarantees Success
2026/09/01
THIS IS AN OLD EPISODE FROM 2024. In case you have managed to randomly find your way here, Hi! I'm Rachel LaForce. I am a Comedian and Cultural Commentator. My show Healing is Hilarious is about Connecting the Headlines to Human Behavior. However - this past week - this human got really sick and I was in bed all week - SO! Enjoy this evergreen episode from 2024.What I LOVE about evergreen messages is well - they're always in season. The messages from 2024 echo now with where we're at energetically and collectively. There is no going back to who we were. We see clearly now - dare I say because the rain is gone. LOLZ. No, don't go - please stay. American Culture LOVES confidence. We have sayings like "fake it til you make it", we love Beyonce, Kris Jenner and not taking no for an answer - (yikes - well - that is a different episode entirely!). MOVING ON!I believe that asking people to be confident isn't the strongest skill for life. I believe that building a sense of self trust. of CAPABILITY will take you way farther than confidence. Because you won't always feel confident when you're doing something for the first time - or in this case - when you are actively taking the steps to walk away from a life that you've outgrown and step into the life you can't stop dreaming about. Capability is the belief and skill that no matter the task - you will make it because you're capable of great things even if you aren't confidence int hat skill, task or lifestyle yet. Capability says - I trust myself. It's a new dawn, it's a new day and self help isn't for the weak. You got this! Stay in the game baby! We need you. I will be back next Monday with a brand new HEALING IS HILARIOUS breaking down all of the best headlines and reaching for the pattern behind the story because well the headline is rarely the full story - it's a mirror. Tune out, tune in. Love you, mean it!
KAROLINE LEAVITT, LINDSAY CLANCY, SELENE, ALEX COOPER And Why We Still Have SO Many Opinions About Women
2026/08/24
Why do we have so many opinions about women?
This week on Healing Is Hilarious, Rachel LaForce connects five seemingly unrelated headlines to one cultural pattern: our obsession with deciding what women should be.
Karoline Leavitt is leaving the White House after the birth of her second child. Alex Cooper's Unwell beverage line is winding down. Selena Gomez and her mental-health company Wondermind are facing a lawsuit from investors. Jon Hamm is becoming a first-time father at 55. And the Lindsay Clancy murder trial is forcing a much more serious conversation about motherhood, mental health, responsibility and what happens when women desperately need support.
Different women. Wildly different circumstances.
But underneath them is the same question:
Why are we so much better at judging women than understanding them?
Because understanding isn't agreement. Compassion isn't absolution. Failure isn't identity. And someone's life doesn't have to make sense to us to be worthy of curiosity.
Healing Is Hilarious connects the headlines to human behavior through comedy, clarity and cultural commentary.
Tune out. Tune in. Love you, mean it.
Mikayla Nogueira, Alix Earle, Rhode & Why We Decide What is Valuable
2026/08/13
This week, Rachel is clocking five stories that seem completely unrelated: backlash surrounding Mikayla Nogueira’s POV Beauty heading to Sephora, Alix Earle making the jump from TikTok to Netflix, Disney+ bringing TikTok creators onto its platform, a proposed New York bill that would give shoppers a discount for using self-checkout, and the staggering success of Hailey Bieber’s Rhode.
But underneath all five is the same question:
Who decides what something is worth?
From celebrity and status to convenience, attention and the products we buy, value isn’t always inherent. Often, it’s something we collectively assign - and eventually forget we assigned in the first place.
Come for the gossip. Stay for the pattern.
This week on Healing Is Hilarious: The Value Shift.
Stop Performing and Start Being Present: The 5 Types of Performance
2026/08/09
There is a version of you who knows exactly how to look capable, confident, desirable, certain and completely fine - even when you are running on fumes. And because the performance works, nobody interrupts it. They applaud it.
In this evergreen episode of Healing Is Hilarious, Rachel LaForce breaks down the five ways the Performance Trap shows up in our culture and our lives: performing productivity, perfection, desirability, certainty and power.
Because maybe you aren’t exhausted from being incapable. Maybe you’re exhausted from constantly trying to look capable while you live.
This episode is about recognizing where you are performing qualities you already possess—and trading the performance for presence.

HUMANS VS. AI: WHY PROGRESS REQUIRES HUMANITY
2026/07/31
Companies spent years promising AI would replace people. Now some are discovering that experience, judgment and context were doing more work than the spreadsheets could see. ChatGPT is moving into health. Myspace may be coming back. Canva’s founders are betting billions on trust. And The Odyssey turned an online culture war into a global box-office event.
These stories look unrelated. They are not.
This week, Rachel connects the headlines to the same cultural mistake: we keep designing systems to improve human life while treating the human parts - judgment, care, connection, dignity and creativity - as inefficiencies.
The future is not human or technology. The real question is whether our tools help people become more capable - or require people to become smaller so the system can look successful.
It’s time society stops getting in it’s own way. And there’s a lot we can learn from that. Tune out, tune in. Love you, mean it.
The Story We’re Given: Who Benefits When You Believe It?
2026/07/24
Who gets to decide what a story means - the person living it, the person reporting it, or the person who benefits when we believe their version?
This week on Healing Is Hilarious, Rachel LaForce connects five seemingly unrelated headlines: Andrew and Tristan Tate’s arrest and extradition proceedings, Jon Ossoff’s calm dismantling of political evasion, Anne Hathaway’s “buzzer-beater” pregnancy at 43, the World Cup halftime show that gave soccer fans everything except more soccer, and the return of WAG culture - but this time, the women are the ones controlling the cameras.
Together, these stories reveal "The Given Story". A narrative presented as objective truth that quietly protects someone's power, preference or profit. SHOCKER.
How do predators rebrand domination as masculinity? Why have we confused loudness with leadership? When does biological information become a cultural deadline? Why does entertainment keep interrupting the things already holding our attention? And why is women’s visibility called vanity only after women learn to own it?
And before you run off calling yourself too old, too late, too quiet, too sensitive or too much, ask whether that is the truth - or simply the story you were given. It's time to write yourself a new story!
Tune out. Tune in. Love you, mean it.

A THOUSAND TINY NO'S: How Power Shifts
2026/07/16
This week on Healing is Hilarious, Rachel explores a surprising pattern hiding beneath the week's biggest headlines: what if culture doesn't change through one massive revolution, but through a thousand tiny no's?
From Meta reversing course after public backlash to the EU challenging addictive social media design, an Emmy nomination for a creator-led show, questions of trust in the AI startup world, and the internet's obsession with explaining celebrity breakups, this week's stories all point to the same idea:
Power is shifting.
Not because someone at the top decided to change the rules - but because ordinary people are starting to push back, set boundaries, demand trust, and stop waiting for permission.
Because sometimes the headline isn't the story. Sometimes it's a mirror.
In this episode:
Why Meta's reversal says more about us than it does about MetaWhat the EU's fight against infinite scroll reveals about our attentionWhy Subway Takes' Emmy nomination marks a turning point for new mediaWhat the Phia controversy teaches us about trust in the age of AIWhy we rush to diagnose celebrity relationships - and what that says about us
Culture doesn't usually change because someone powerful says yes. It changes because enough ordinary people finally say no. Tune out, tune in. Love you, mean it.

CHAOS IS LOUD. CHANGE IS QUIET: Meta, Taylor, AI & the Question Nobody's Asking
2026/07/09
This week on Healing Is Hilarious, Comedian, Creator and Cultural Commentator Rachel LaForce connects the biggest headlines to the human experience.
From Meta admitting it miscalculated AI after massive layoffs, to billionaire biohacker Bryan Johnson revealing an unexpected autoimmune diagnosis, to the internet's obsession with Taylor Swift's wedding, Hilary Duff becoming the new face of Bath & Body Works, and the debut of an AI actress in Hollywood...
At first glance, these stories seem unrelated. They're not.
Because while the internet rewards outrage, the most meaningful changes in our lives almost never trend. The real story isn't AI, celebrity culture, or nostalgia. It's what these moments reveal about who we are, what we value, and what it means to be human.
If you've ever felt overwhelmed by the news cycle, exhausted by social media, or wondered why certain stories capture our attention while others quietly change our lives, this episode is for you.
Subscribe and never miss a show, leave a review, and share it with someone who loves pop culture, psychology, comedy, and meaningful conversations! Because sometimes the headline isn't the story. Sometimes it's a mirror.
