Tricks Or Treats
2026/10/16
This month, we’re ripping open the Halloween grab bag and digging through everything that keeps us hopelessly devoted to the one holiday where decorating your house with corpses is considered festive. We’re talking the candy worth fighting neighborhood children over, the horror movies that become mandatory viewing every October, the costumes we’ve built, worn, and probably spent way too much money on, and whether Halloween has finally been commercialized within an inch of its undead life. Along the way we get into the traditions we love, the seasonal obsessions we refuse to give up, the stuff that’s disappeared over the years, and why grown adults will happily spend an entire month surrounded by plastic skeletons, fake blood, and enough sugar to stop a human heart. It’s a Halloween grab bag stuffed with horror, nostalgia, costumes, candy, questionable opinions, and everything else we could dig out of the coffin. So grab a fistful of candy, lower your standards, and join us as we celebrate Halloween the only way we know how: with horror movies, bad judgment, and absolutely no nutritional value.
Tiny Terrors
2026/09/18
They’re small, they’re ugly, and for some reason they’re always hungry. This month, we’re opening the cage and taking a trip through horror’s tiny terror hall of fame! GREMLINS may have kicked the little-creature craze into high gear, but it wasn’t long before CRITTERS, GHOULIES, MUNCHIES, THE GATE and a whole army of pint-sized maniacs came crawling out of the woodwork. We’re talking killer furballs, toilet-dwelling demons, miniature monsters and all the wonderfully ridiculous ways horror discovered that sometimes the smaller the threat, the bigger the body count. So check under the bed, keep an eye on the vents, and join us as we celebrate the little monsters who proved you don’t have to be big to cause a whole lot of trouble.
Dead By Dawn: An Evil Dead Retrospective
2026/07/24
The EVIL DEAD franchise has spent more than forty years proving that nothing good ever comes from a quiet weekend in the woods, reading Latin out loud, or owning a basement with questionable acoustics. This month, we’re opening the Necronomicon and digging through the entire blood-soaked history of the series, from Sam Raimi’s original nightmare and Ash’s increasingly terrible employment history to the 2013 bloodbath, EVIL DEAD RISE, and the latest entry, EVIL DEAD BURN. Along the way, we’re talking Deadites, boomsticks, possessed relatives, medieval detours, chainsaw maintenance, and the remarkable durability of a franchise built almost entirely on bad decisions and industrial quantities of fake blood. Join us as we rank the carnage, praise the practical effects, and once again ignore the very reasonable advice to leave the creepy book alone.
Splatstick
2026/06/26
Blending horror and comedy is a dangerous game. Lean too hard into the horror and the jokes feel like a drunk uncle at a funeral. Lean too hard into the comedy and suddenly the monster is just a prop with dental problems. This week, we’re getting into the beautiful nonsense of the subgenre as a whole: the perfect tonal sweet spot, the glorious failures, and the movies that understand stupidity is only funny when someone smart is steering the hearse.
Horror Smackdown: 1986 Edition
2026/05/29
Get ready, fright fans, because 1986 was loud, slimy, radioactive, and absolutely out of its damn mind! In this blood-soaked battle royale, we’re throwing the horror heavyweights of 1986 into the ring to see which film claws its way to the top. Can THE FLY mutate its way into the winner’s circle with pure tragic body horror perfection, or does THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE PART 2 chainsaw through the competition with neon-soaked insanity? Will FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 6: JASON LIVES prove Jason had finally become the ultimate horror icon, or do the alien terrors of CRITTERS and the undead chaos of NIGHT OF THE CREEPS steal the crown? Meanwhile, FROM BEYOND melts minds and bodies alike, TRICK OR TREAT cranks the volume straight to hell, POLTERGEIST II brings supernatural nightmare fuel, and APRIL FOOL'S DAY reminds us that sometimes the joke is on us. Join us as we slice through the gore, the goo, the creatures, and the carnage to determine which film stands tall as the ultimate horror champion of 1986! Let's get Spooky!
Queen of the Dead: An Interview with Tina Romero
2026/04/17
Join us as we sit down with Tina Romero to talk about her film QUEENS OF THE DEAD, the evolution of zombie storytelling, and the horror community that refuses to stay buried. We get into the balance between honoring the past and pushing things forward, the unique perspective she brings to the genre, and why zombie films continue to find new life with every generation. It’s a fun, thoughtful conversation with just enough bite to remind us that horror isn’t just about what’s on screen, it’s about the community that keeps it all going.
For the Love of Horror
2026/03/20
From the red carpet to the local theater, horror has always been about more than just scares - it’s about community. On this frightful episode, we open with a celebration of the genre we love, discussing horror’s historic sweep at the Oscars, before diving into a retrospective of FRIGHT NIGHT PART 2. Most importantly, we discuss our upcoming benefit screening for our dear friend, Erich, currently battling cancer. This episode features a personal statement from him that reminds us all why this community matters so much. It’s an emotional, raw, and deeply personal conversation - we’re honored to share it with you. Let's get Spooky.
Gettin' Creepy With It: A Conversation With Steve "Uncle Creepy" Barton
2026/02/20
On this month's episode, we are joined by a very special guest - a long-time fiend of ours, Mr. Steve "Uncle Creepy" Barton! From his start as a Fangoria message board moderator, to his epic tenure at Dread Central and all the way up into his autobiography - Uncle Creepy drops in to discuss all things Spooky. But this isn’t just shop talk. From unforgettable convention memories and late-night lobby hangs to behind-the-scenes set stories that fans rarely hear, we dig into why this genre isn’t just movies on a screen or words on a page -it’s family, connection, and a lifeline for the beautifully strange. It’s heartfelt, hilarious, and a reminder that in horror, none of us haunt alone. Get ready folks, it's time to get Spooky!
Horror Smackdown: 1981 Edition
2026/01/23
Get ready, fright fans, 1981 was an absolute bloodbath, and we’re throwing the whole year into the ring! In this no-holds-barred horror showdown, we pit the slashers, monsters, and mind-melters of 1981 against each other to see which film truly rules the year. Can THE EVIL DEAD redefine terror with splatter and shrieks, or does AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON tear the competition apart with teeth, tragedy, and transformation? Will HALLOWEEN II and FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 2 prove the slasher sequel could still sharpen its blade, or do cult killers, campground nightmares, and backwoods legends steal the spotlight? Add in werewolves, psychic head explosions, nightmarish art house horror, and some truly unhinged midnight movie madness, and you’ve got one hell of a fight. Join us as we break down the kills, the scares, the insanity, and the legacy, eliminating contenders one by one until only a single film stands tall as the ultimate horror champion of 1981.
New Nightmares: Horror in 2025
2025/12/28
This year’s horror didn’t pull its punches. We’re talking cults, cruelty, end-times anxiety, vampires, zombies, slashers and the kind of moral rot that sticks with you long after the credits roll. We're taking a deep dive into the best of 2025; what worked, what didn’t, and why this year might be remembered as a turning point… or a warning sign.
All in the Family
2025/11/28
Blood’s thicker than water… and do these clans prove it! On this frightfully fun episode, we're cracking open the family album from hell, with matriarchs like the chainsaw-slinging brood of THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, backwoods dynasties like AMERICAN GOTHIC, and suburban secrets à la THE PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS and more! We’re talking generational trauma, cannibal cookouts, and inherited homicide like it’s a birthright. Pass the mashed potatoes, dear listeners, and don’t forget to lock your doors. Family dinner’s about to get messy.
Halloween Nights of Future Past
2025/10/31
Before we were spooky cinephiles, we were sugar-starved gremlins in plastic masks that smelled like burning tires. Childhood Halloween was pure chaos: sprinting across lawns, breathing through a pinhole mask, and trying not to barf after inhaling three mini Snickers in a row. Then came teenage Halloween - suddenly we were “too cool” for trick-or-treating, yet somehow still roaming the streets, sneaking into haunted houses, and ending up at a bonfire wearing eyeliner we pretended wasn’t eyeliner. Now as adults, we pour way too much effort into costumes, buy candy no kids ever show up for, and stay up way past our bedtime watching movies we used to have to sneak. Turns out we never outgrew Halloween - we just swapped the plastic fangs for spirit gum and the pillowcase for a tote bag with bats on it.
Horror Smackdown: 1990 Edition
2025/09/26
Seven horror heavyweights enter, but only one leaves with the crown! From the flesh-hungry dead of NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD to the desert-burrowing Graboids of TREMORS, from cursed anthologies in TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE: THE MOVIE to Annie Wilkes’ brutal obsession in MISERY, 1990 pulled no punches. Add in the skin-crawling swarm of ARACNOPHOBIA, the demonic dread of THE EXORCIST III, and the monstrous outsiders of NIGHTBREED, and you’ve got one hell of a fight. Which film rules them all? Join us as we break them down, limb by limb. It's about to get Spooky!
Of Land, Diary and Survival
2025/08/29
Romero never let the Dead rest, and neither do we. Come along as we discuss how Romero’s Dead shuffled into the 21st century. We’ll climb into the ivory tower of LAND OF THE DEAD, wrestle with the found-footage chaos of DIARY OF THE DEAD, and weigh the Western-styled grudges of SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD. These films gave us everything from Dennis Hopper’s smug capitalist overlord to camcorder-wielding survivors obsessed with documentation, to families so divided they’d rather fight each other than the zombies at their door. While these entries are often debated among fans, they reveal Romero’s persistence in pushing horror to say something bigger about society. Join us as we sift through what these films meant then - and what they say now. Get ready folks, it's about to get Spooky!
Once Upon a Nightmare
2025/07/25
They told our parents these were "family films", but what we got were psychological thrillers dressed in cartoon gloves. In this kickoff to our descent into cinematic betrayal, we revisit the movies that came with songs and smiles but hit us with body horror, death, and despair. From WILLY WONKA’s haunted tunnel to THE BRAVE LITTLE TOASTER’s junkyard of doom, this is where the trauma began - and we’re still trying to make sense of it. If you’ve ever had a sudden flashback to wheeled headless queens or singing air conditioners having breakdowns, you’re not alone.
