LSU Football | Lane Kiffin Sets LSU Offensive Records In 63-14 Win vs McNeese | LSU Preps for UK.
2026/10/06
#LSU #LSUBaseball #LSUFootball #MikdUp #MikdUpMikieMahtook #MikieMahtook #JaredMitchell First-year LSU head coach Lane Kiffin led the No. 10 Tigers to a historic 63-14 blowout victory over McNeese State, setting multiple program records before shifting focus to their upcoming SEC road trip against Kentucky. Record-Setting Night vs. McNeese State During the matchup at Tiger Stadium, LSU's relentless offense exploded to set two brand-new single-game program milestones: • Total Offensive Plays: The Tigers ran 101 plays, shattering the previous school record of 99 set against Tulane back in 1969. • First Downs: LSU picked up 39 first downs, surpassing the record of 37 they had already established earlier in the 2026 season opener against Clemson. • Total Yards: The offense piled up 731 total yards (364 passing, 367 rushing), the second-most in program history and just 13 yards shy of the 1977 record against Rice. The game was so lopsided that game officials approached Kiffin at halftime—with LSU leading 35-0—offering a running clock to shorten the second half. Kiffin firmly refused, stating, "Play the game and we decide when the game's over by the way we play." Preparing for Kentucky Now sitting at 4-1 overall (1-1 SEC), Lane Kiffin's squad is shifting gears to open a grueling seven-game consecutive SEC stretch. LSU will travel to Lexington to face the Kentucky Wildcats at Kroger Field on Saturday, October 10. The Tigers head into the heart of conference play holding the No. 1 total offense and No. 1 total defense rankings in the SEC. In injury news, Kiffin provided an encouraging update regarding sophomore tight end Trey'Dez Green, noting he is officially out of his knee brace and getting closer to a return.

In his debut as head coach, Lane Kiffin led the No. 11 LSU Tigers to a dominant 51-10 victory over Clemson at Tiger Stadium. LSU Football QB Sam Leavitt Speaks | Sights and Sounds From Fall Practice | Position Battles
2026/08/11
Completely Healthy: Leavitt confirmed he is 100% recovered. He underwent a follow-up surgery in April to remove the hardware (pins) from his foot and has faced no physical limitations during the first week of camp.
Mental Mastery: Despite missing valuable physical reps in the spring, Leavitt utilized extensive film study and mental data-tracking to fully digest Kiffin’s rhythm-passing system. [1, 2]

LSU Baseball Does The Unthinkable As Jay Johnson Lands #1 Recruit LHP Logan Schmidt | LSU Football!.mp3
2026/08/04
The 6-foot-4 California southpaw features a commanding high-90s fastball and highly praised strike-throwing capabilities How the "Unthinkable" Happened
The Draft Snag: The Cleveland Guardians selected Schmidt in the 2nd round (59th overall) of the 2026 MLB Draft. However, Cleveland took him without a pre-draft financial agreement The Contract Gap: Schmidt's camp sought a $3 million contract. Because Cleveland had already exhausted most of its bonus pool, they could only offer roughly $1.7 million. The Ultimatum: Schmidt refused the underslot offer. This left him with two choices: play for a junior college (JUCO) to re-enter the draft in 2027, or honor his commitment to LSU Baseball. [1, 2, 3]
The Pivot to Baton Rouge: Coach Jay Johnson flew out to California to meet with Schmidt directly. He convinced him to choose the Tigers over JUCO, lock into campus life, and tap into substantial NIL compensation. [1, 2, 3]
What This Means for LSU
By bypassing JUCO and heading to Baton Rouge, Schmidt must remain in college for at least three seasons. He will not be draft-eligible again until 2029.
The blockbuster addition vaults LSU's 2026 High School Recruiting Class to the No. 1 overall ranking according to major outlets like Baseball America and D1Baseball. Schmidt joins an already elite incoming freshman group that features multiple top-100 prospects, signaling an immediate, aggressive rebuild after LSU missed the 2026 NCAA Tournament.

Is The Loss of LSU Baseball's Marcos Paz A Direct Result Of Texas A&M's New Hire To Recruiting Staff
2026/06/30
Is The Loss of LSU Baseball's Marcos Paz A Direct Result Of Texas A&M's New Hire To Recruiting Staff. The departure of freshman right-handed pitcher Marcos Paz from the LSU Tigers baseball program is directly tied to a combination of Texas A&M's revamped coaching hires and LSU's crowded starting rotation. When Paz entered the NCAA transfer portal, insiders immediately named the Texas A&M Aggies as the heavy favorites to land the Texas native. This roster movement is heavily influenced by staff changes in College Station alongside internal depth charts in Baton Rouge:1. The Nolan Cain & Barry Enright Effect at Texas A&M. Texas A&M head coach Michael Earley completely overhauled his staff by making two major hires that altered the recruiting landscape:Nolan Cain: Texas A&M brought back Nolan Cain as Associate Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. Cain is widely regarded as one of the most elite recruiters in college baseball and formerly served as LSU's recruiting coordinator under Paul Mainieri. His deep ties to Louisiana and Texas prospects make Texas A&M an instant threat to lure players out of Baton Rouge.Barry Enright: The Aggies also hired MLB pitching coordinator Barry Enright as their new Pitching Coach. Enright’s background in professional player development is a massive drawing card for a high-ceiling pitcher like Paz who is still recovering from a high school Tommy John surgery and looking to maximize his MLB draft stock.

College World Series Game 3 Live UNC vs Oklahoma | How Much Will The New MLB Draft Rules Help LSU?
2026/06/23
The Three Core Changes Impacting College Baseball Ban on High School Draftees: Under the proposal, high school players would no longer be eligible for the domestic draft. Every graduating senior must head to college or the junior college ranks first.Earlier College Eligibility: Four-year college players would become draft-eligible after their sophomore seasons instead of their junior years.Shortened 12-Round Draft: Shrinking the draft from 20 rounds to 12 eliminates roughly 240 professional selections per year, forcing an immense amount of depth back into the collegiate system. The Impact on LSU: Roster Upgrades vs. Parity Bottlenecks Guaranteed Arrival of Elite Commits: Historically, LSU's primary recruiting battle is not against other college programs, but against MLB signing bonuses. In a typical cycle, several of head coach Jay Johnson's highest-rated high school signees opt to go pro instead of arriving in Baton Rouge. If high schoolers are barred from the draft, LSU's roster would immediately lock in 100% of its top-tier high school recruiting classes. The "Super Sophomore" Roster Turnover: While LSU gains immense freshman classes, they would only hold onto those elite players for two seasons instead of three. High-end talent would leave for the MLB draft a year earlier, leading to highly accelerated roster turnover and making long-term roster construction more volatile. The Roster Crunch and Talent Spillover: The NCAA currently restricts baseball rosters to 35 players. With hundreds of elite high school phenoms and displaced late-round players flooded into the college system, top-tier rosters will overflow. This massive surplus of talent will inevitably spill over into mid-major programs, raising the talent floor and driving intense parity nationwide rather than a single-school monopoly.Because the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) strongly opposes the proposal—arguing that cutting the draft pool and capping signing bonuses hurts the next generation of players—the rule changes face a steep uphill battle before the December 1, 2026, CBA deadline.

2026/06/19
The No. 1 Portal Get: Bino Watters (Notre Dame)In a major recruiting battle, Jay Johnson successfully stole Bino Watters away from SEC rival Texas. Elite Profile: Earned First-Team All-ACC honors and struck out only 37 times in 253 plate appearances. He is widely projected as a potential 1st-round pick in the 2027 MLB Draft. LSU Baseball Head Coach And Portal King Jay Johnson LIVE! Milam's Return, Bino Watters Get & More!
2026/06/18
Jay Johnson and the LSU Tigers are dominating the transfer portal following a disappointing 2026 season where they missed the postseason for the first time since 2011. Coach Johnson has rapidly reloaded the roster for 2027 by securing a commitment from the consensus No. 1 overall transfer portal player, outfielder Bino Watters, and convincing star shortstop Steven Milam to return for his senior year. 2026/06/09
The 2026 Men's College World Series is making unique history as none of the eight participants from last year's CWS advanced to the Super Regionals this season. LSU, the 2025 National Champion, was entirely excluded from the 64-team national bracket. The final eight teams wrap up Super Regional play on Monday, June 8, before heading to Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska. The tournament officially begins on Friday, June 12, 2026. With powerhouse favorites like UCLA eliminated early on, Georgia has emerged as the new betting favorite to capture the crown. Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby made major national headlines today after a Texas district court judge granted him a preliminary injunction, restoring his eligibility to play in the 2026 college football season. The decision has caused massive shockwaves and outrage across the college sports landscape, as Sorsby was previously ruled permanently ineligible by the NCAA for significant sports gambling violations
