Why you should stop waiting for Monday with Maeve Sheridan ACPAT Physio and Event Rider
2026/10/13
On today's episode, Equiteam's Liz Daniels welcomes Chartered Physiotherapist and event rider Maeve Sheridan back to the show for a chat about the road to, and from, Badminton, the realities of life as a busy rider, and why investing in yourself off the horse can make such a difference in the saddle. Maeve, who also shares her passion for education through her Activate Your Seat brand, talks candidly about her approach to social media and how she's developed a thicker skin over the years when it comes to putting herself and her work out there. She also explains how she practises what she preaches when it comes to fitness, sharing why habit-stacking exercise into a busy routine, rather than setting unrealistic goals, has helped her become fitter and stronger than ever, and fit enough to event. We also reflect on Maeve's exciting journey with her self-produced event horse, Pronto, celebrating a fantastic 2026 season, the highs and achievements that have had so many people cheering them on, and what's next for this exciting partnership in 2027. Find out more about Activate Your Seat and follw Maeve on Facebook and Instagram. If you would like some help and support on your equestrian journey, join EquiTeam for less than £3.50 a week.

Don't worry, despite some gentle encouragement from Gill Birrell, Liz doesn't break into chorus! After a few weeks with lots of big decisions and changes, Liz and Gill share their thoughts on juggling and throwing nuts, the challenge of thinking about and planning multiple things all at once, tools which help them get back on the right track again, and how to stay motivated coming into Autumn. I realised that there were other people just like me
2026/08/11
On today's podcast, we're joined by Joanna Lockhart to talk about the highs, lows and unexpected twists of her confidence journey with her horse, Laila. At 48, Jo inherited the ride on Laila from her daughter, despite having barely ridden since she was a teenager. What followed was a journey that tested her confidence, resilience and determination in ways she never expected. From taking 20 minutes just to get on, to hiding around the back of the stables because she felt embarrassed by her lack of skills and experience, Jo knows all too well what it feels like to lose confidence in the saddle. A turning point came at Confidence Camp, where Jo discovered something incredibly important: she wasn't the only one. Being surrounded by other riders experiencing the same fears and frustrations helped her realise that confidence isn't about being fearless – and that progress doesn't always happen in a straight line. Fast forward a few years and, after plenty of progress, Jo experienced a setback when she fractured her back. Yet what could have felt like another blow to her confidence ultimately helped lay some of the most important foundations for her relationship with Laila. In this honest and inspiring conversation, Jo reflects on the moments when she wanted to give up, the setbacks that changed her perspective, and how she went from simply trying to get on her horse to genuinely enjoying their time together. It's a brilliant reminder that confidence isn't about becoming a different rider – it's about finding your own way forward, one step at a time, with a big smile on your face.
Behind the scenes at Scone Palace Horse Trials
2026/08/04
On today's podcast, Liz Daniels is excited to be joined by Alec Lochore with his Scone Palace International Horse Trials hat on. Alec is the Event Director of the Scone Palace International Horse Trials, and one of the world's leading course designers, with experience spanning Olympic Games, World Championships and major international events. As Scone Palace International Horse Trials is entering its second year (in its new format), Alec shares his memories of riding at Scone in the 90's, his vision for the new event, what he hopes riders and spectators will take away. Alec gives us a sneak peek behind the scenes, revealing his favourite fences, the best views on the course, and how the course is designed to be ridden. Uterus owners can't be trusted...
2026/07/28
On today's episode, Liz Daniels chats to leadership coach and organisation development practitioner, Amy Martin, as she shares her experiences on women's health and understanding the impact that your cycle and hormones have on life, both in and out of the saddle. From tracking your cycle, to understanding where those confidence dips can come from, Amy shares how her own research has positively impacted her life, and how you can reduce the challenging Autumn days. Remember - confidence is transient, just because you have a day with low confidence, doesn't mean the next day will be the same. You can find out more about Amy at Magnolia Coaching.  Join EquiTeam at www.equiteam.co.uk

She's not my wife – get me out of here!
2026/06/30
On this week's light-hearted podcast, Equiteam's Liz Daniels and Lou Gillings go way off-piste as they share the most ridiculous things they have done because the other one said it would be a good idea, travelling for 36 hours straight, what would be on their dating profile if the other one had to write it, and who is most likely to be late (no shock statements for that one!).
Finances made sexy (yes really)
2026/06/23
If you're anything like us, then you prioritise your horse and their needs, but investing in yourself financially always seems to fall way off the to-do list, and the mere mention of pensions sends us running for the stables. In this episode, Equiteam's Liz Daniels is joined by the lovely Ruth Downs, Founder of Truth Financial, with the remit – please can you make finances accessible and sexy! Ruth manages to do just that, as she passionately shares some basic tips for budgeting, emergency funds, and pensions, without cutting back on enjoying life.
