Stress Management for Catholic Women Who Can't Slow Down (with Suzanne Bracci)
2026/09/28
Suzanne Bracci prayed for a sign. She was a school counselor who sensed God pulling her somewhere new, and she told him plainly that it would have to be unmistakable because she was not going to move on her own. A few weeks later she opened a door at work and found a man pointing a rifle at her. She still did not leave for six more months. And years before that, her body had already tried to tell her the same thing, when chest pain and a family history of heart disease sent her to the hospital and every test came back clean. In this episode Suzanne shares what it cost her to ignore both, and the practical, faith rooted tools she now teaches Catholic women who cannot hear much of anything over the noise of their own lives. What we cover: - Why chronic stress shows up as chest pain, headaches, heart palpitations, and exhaustion long before it shows up as burnout - How saying yes to good things, one at a time, is what actually put her in a hospital bed - What happened the night she prayed for a sign, and why she still took six months to act on it - How to tell the difference between environmental stress you cannot control and the stress you are generating in your own mind - Why rest is holy, and how to stop treating self care as something you have to earn first - How to build a stress purse, a written toolkit of physical, mental, social, and spiritual strategies you can reach for in the moment - A guided diaphragmatic breathing technique you can do in the car or between meetings - How thought reframing turns a spiraling thought into a prayer instead of a headache - Why self pity keeps you stuck, and what she did every morning to walk back into that building Connect with Suzanne Bracci: Website: https://suzannebracci.com Book: Hope for Struggling Catholics: A Path to Spiritual and Personal Renewal (available on Amazon) - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DHJC3683?lv=shuf&channelId=500&plpRedirect=mhFallback Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/suzannebracci.speaker.author/?hl=en Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/SuzanneBracci.Faith.Hope.Love/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@SuzanneBracci The Catholic Woman Podcast: Substack: https://substack.com/@realmariehanson Instagram: https://instagram.com/thecatholicwomanpodcast Thank you to our sponsors: - Helena House Therapy, a virtual Catholic integrated therapy practice specializing in perinatal mental health. How To Know When God Is Asking You To Quit (with Claire Swinarski)
2026/09/14
Claire Swinarski's Catholic podcast was working. Big guests, real income, four years in. Then she felt God asking her to walk away from all of it, and she said yes without knowing what came next. This conversation is about how to discern when God is closing a door you love, why setting something down is not the same as failing, and what she found on the other side. Get the free episode recap library at https://catholicwoman.co/episode-recaps In this episode: - What Saint John Paul II meant when he called for a new feminism in Evangelium Vitae - Why so many Catholic women flinch at the word feminist and whether they should - How the Catholic view of women differs from the evangelical teaching on women's roles - What Claire says is genuinely evil about secular feminism and what she refuses to give up - How she wrote the Fiat Girls book series about Saint Therese, Saint Rose of Lima, and Mother Teresa as nine year old girls - What Pope Leo XIV teaches about artificial intelligence in Magnifica Humanitas and how Catholic writers should think about AI - How to know when God is asking you to set down something successful and fruitful - Why she walked away from a profitable Catholic podcast at its peak instead of building a Catholic media empire Connect with Claire Swinarski: Website: https://claireswinarski.com Substack: Letters from a Catholic Feminist Instagram: @claireswinarski Preorder The Fiat Girls: https://ascensionpress.com/collections/fiat-girls The Catholic Woman Podcast: Show notifications: https://catholicwoman.co/newsletter Substack: https://substack.com/@thecatholicwoman Facebook Group: https://facebook.com/share/g/1GeKDTt7WA/ Website: https://catholicwoman.co Instagram: https://instagram.com/thecatholicwomanpodcast YouTube: https://youtube.com/@TheCatholicWomanPodcast Thank you to our sponsors: - The Heavenly Post, a monthly Catholic mail subscription with a devotional letter, art print, prayer card, and more, built around the liturgical calendar. The Truth About Yoga: What It Actually Is, Why It's Not Just Exercise, and What It Really Opens You Up To
2026/08/17
Most people think yoga is just stretching. Linda Carl thought so too, for almost twenty years, right up until the night she came face to face with something she couldn't explain away. This week she joins Marie to unpack what yoga actually is at its root, what happened to her and her daughter that finally broke it open, and why intention doesn't change what a practice is designed to do. This week we discuss: - what yoga actually means in Sanskrit and why every posture is aligned to Hindu gods - the real meaning behind sun salutations and why namaskar means to worship - why saying I'm just doing it for exercise doesn't change what the practice is spiritually - the frightening encounter that made Linda realize what she'd opened her family up to - how confession and the sacraments offer real spiritual protection the world doesn't talk about - what to know about Catholic yoga alternatives like SoulCore and Pietra Fitness - how to gently talk to a friend or family member who's still practicing without pushing them away If this one made you rethink your Tuesday night class, hit subscribe so you don't miss what's coming next. This week Marie Hanson sits down with licensed mental health counselor Samantha Stefaniak, founder of Rooted Soul Grounded Mind, for an honest conversation about what it actually looks like to grieve as a Catholic woman without losing your faith or faking your peace. In this episode: - Why questioning God in grief isn't a lack of faith, it's how He built us - The difference between healthy grieving and grief that's turned spiritually harmful - What to do in the first ten minutes when grief hits and you don't know how to cope  -How to support a grieving friend without having the right words - Why two feelings can be true at once: disappointment and gratitude - What the Glorious Mysteries teach us about grief that isn't final - How to validate grief that isn't tied to losing a person If this episode meets you somewhere heavy today, hit subscribe so you don't miss what's coming. 2026/06/08
Most Catholic women were never told that sex is supposed to feel good for them. Ellen Holloway is a Catholic sex and intimacy coach, and she is filling the gaping hole of practical, faithful sex education that the Church has always supported but almost no one has been willing to talk about. In this episode, we cover: - What the Church actually teaches about sex and marriage and why it is good news, not a rule book - Why desire tends to decrease over the course of a marriage, and the surprisingly simple reason behind it - Why pain during sex is never something to push through and what to do instead - The truth about lubrication: only about 20% of women adequately lubricate on their own, and what that means for you - What JPII called a "justice issue"  and why learning to experience orgasm is not selfish, it's important - How pelvic floor dysfunction and conditions like endometriosis affect intimacy, and what actually helps - Why healing your own sex life is one of the most important things you can do for your daughters and sons Free resource from Ellen: https://reclaimingcatholicintimacy.com/CWP NEW! Catholic Productivity Expert: Why Work-Life Balance Is A Myth, And The Truth About Peace And Order
2026/05/25
You've heard it a thousand times: work-life balance. But what if that phrase is actually working against you?  In this episode, Marie Hanson sits down with Carolyn Espinoza, co-founder of Sole Atelier, to have the honest conversation about what it actually looks like to live an integrated life as a Catholic woman; one where your work, your faith, your family, and your interior life aren't competing, they're unified. In this episode, we discuss: - Why "work-life balance" is a myth and the more life-giving framework Catholic women should embrace instead - The critical difference between a distraction and an interruption and how knowing the difference will transform your focus and your peace - How to build a realistic daily schedule that actually works, even in the exhausting seasons of motherhood with little ones - The power of choosing just three priorities for your week and why more goals actually means less gets done - How to set concrete, positive goals in areas that are hard to measure like virtue, patience, and prayer - Why women who work outside the home shouldn't carry shame, and what the saints show us about women, vocation, and work - How to find meaning and spiritual value in tasks that no one sees or celebrates: the laundry, the diapers, the invisible work - The role of goal-setting in sanctity and why Pope Francis says dreaming is a deeply human and spiritual act - Why starting and ending on time is actually a virtue (and the beautiful example of Blessed Alvaro del Portillo at Vatican II) - The one thing Carolyn says to do first when you feel like peace and order are completely out of reach Connect with Carolyn Espinoza: Website: https://www.soleatelier.com Instagram: https://instagram.com/soleatelierllc The Catholic Woman Podcast: Presence Texts: https://catholicwoman.co/presence (Use code CWP for your first month free!) 2026/05/11
What if your outfit could spark a conversation about the faith? This week I'm sitting down with Sary, the Catholic content creator behind Outfit Diary of the Saints and this episode is exactly the kind of girls-chat-over-coffee conversation I love having on this show. Sary is a third-grade dual immersion teacher, a Franciscan University grad, and a deacon's daughter who went from soccer sweats to saint-inspired style and built a 53,000-follower Instagram account in the process. More than fashion, this is a conversation about evangelization, befriending the saints, and what it looks like to let God use you, even when you're an introvert who would rather not be seen. In this episode, we discuss: - How Sary went from soccer sweats to saint-inspired style and what her dad had to do with it - The story behind Outfit Diary of the Saints and how a conversation with God turned into a 53K following - Her step-by-step process for choosing a saint and building an outfit inspired by her life - How to actually befriend the saints including a simple prayer approach and why novenas are a game-changer - Why Sary recommends starting with your confirmation saint (and how to find one that fits your life) - What happened to Sary's fear of being seen when she said yes to God's call - How dressing like the saints opens doors for natural, non-awkward evangelization conversations - Practical thrift store tips for building a saint-inspired wardrobe without breaking the bank - How she navigates rude comments and difficult conversations online as an introvert and Catholic creator - Her one piece of advice for Catholic women who want to live boldly as the saints they were created to be Connect with Sary: Instagram: @outfitdiaryofthesaints The Catholic Woman Podcast: Be present for your actual life, 3 texts a week that change everything: htps://catholicwoman.co/presence (Use code PODCAST to join for free!) The Secret to Feeling God's Presence When You're Overwhelmed, Distracted, and Just Getting By
2026/04/13
What if the distractions pulling you away from your life aren't just bad habits but symptoms of something deeper? In this mic swap episode, Marie Hanson shares a raw, vulnerable conversation from the Thriving in the Space Between podcast that will make you rethink how you're spending your attention, your money, and your moments. In this episode, we cover: - What a near-death experience after childbirth taught Marie about living on autopilot and the wake-up call that changed everything - Why distraction isn't just a technology problem; it quietly shows up in your finances, your relationships, and your prayer life too - The "roadblock" strategy that breaks autopilot habits without relying on willpower alone even when you're exhausted and overwhelmed - How Marie and her husband paid off debt scorched-earth style with a newborn and toddler at home and the exact systems they still use today - The deeply painful regret of missing her last chance to see her grandfather and what it taught her about letting her yes mean yes - What true presence actually means from a Catholic perspective: being so attuned to God that you can hear His voice even in your most chaotic days - Why silence feels deafening and why that discomfort is actually pointing you toward something important - The simple phone habits Marie put in place that finally helped her stop mindless scrolling for good - Why women in the "in-between" seasons of life are especially susceptible to distraction and how to thrive right where you are - How going to Adoration regularly transformed Marie's interior life and gave her the courage to say yes to what God was calling her to Connect with the Thriving in the Space Between Podcast: Podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/6xTorQrSlbq7gJUbdI8B97?si=65ab5b1f07b94300 Newsletter: https://theintentionalsingle.myflodesk.com/tis-waitlist Website: https://www.theintentionalsingle.com/ The Catholic Woman Podcast: Presence Texts: https://catholicwoman.co/presenceNewsletter/ Show Notifications: https://catholicwoman.co/newsletter Substack: https://substack.com/@thecatholicwoman Facebook Group: https://facebook.com/share/g/1GeKDTt7WA/ Website: https://catholicwoman.co Instagram: https://instagram.com/@thecatholicwomanpodcast YouTube: https://youtube.com/@TheCatholicWomanPodcast Thank you to our show sponsors! How to Know If He's Marriage Material (4 Trust Tests Every Catholic Woman Needs)
2026/03/30
If you're a single Catholic woman wondering why no one is asking you out, or you're dating someone and you're not sure if he's actually marriage material, this episode is going to be a game-changer. Catholic therapist, relationship coach, and author Dana Nygaard is not here to sugarcoat it. She's here to help you stop wasting your time and start dating with clarity, confidence, and faith. In this episode, we discuss: Why so many Catholic men aren't directly asking women on dates and what you can do to become more approachable without compromising your femininity The difference between "hanging out" and being genuinely pursued, and how to call it out with confidence (and a little flirting) Why leading with "boss babe" energy is actually a turnoff and what to lead with instead Whether you should date a non-Catholic and the real risks Dana sees play out in marriages with faith differences, especially around NFP and baptizing children The powerful advice from St. Ambrose to St. Monica that every woman married to a non-Catholic needs to hear Dana's four pillars of trust — ability, integrity, benevolence, and consistency — and how to evaluate a man's character while you're dating What emotional chastity actually looks like in practice and why sharing too much too fast puts you in danger Why so many men in their 20s and 30s are stuck in immaturity and what parents can do right now to stop enabling it How to bring up the pornography conversation in dating without shame and the warning signs that someone is not marriage-ready Daily rituals of connection that keep marriages strong even in the busiest seasons of life Connect with Dana Nygaard: Website: https://clarityplease.com Instagram: @dananygaard_lpc Miss to Mrs's Program: https://dananygaard.com The Catholic Woman Podcast: Be present for your actual life…get 3 texts a week that change everything: https://catholicwoman.co/presence Never miss a show! The Food Industry Was Designed to Hook You: The Truth About Food Addiction and Reclaiming Your Freedom
2026/03/16
Food addiction isn’t simply a matter of willpower, and many women don’t realize how much the modern food system is working against them. In this episode, Marie Hanson sits down with Stephanie Mattrey to unpack the neuroscience of food addiction, the difference between eating disorders and addictive eating patterns, and how ultra-processed foods are engineered to keep us coming back for more. They discuss how hidden sugars and refined ingredients affect the brain, why so many women feel trapped in cycles with food, and how faith, community, and practical habits can help break the cycle. Stephanie also shares compassionate insight for mothers trying to feed their families in a complicated food culture, and why healing your relationship with food begins with understanding, not shame. In this episode, we discuss: - The difference between food addiction and eating disorders - Why ultra-processed foods can affect the brain like addictive substances - How the food industry borrowed tactics from tobacco companies - Why sugar and refined flours appear in so many packaged foods - What to look for on ingredient labels (and what to avoid) - A realistic approach to feeding kids healthy food without fear or perfectionism - Thoughts on seed oils, food dyes, and processed ingredients - The HALT method: Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired - Why emotional hunger often shows up as physical hunger - How prayer can interrupt cravings and help rewire habits - Why food addiction is not a moral failure - The difference between food addiction and the sin of gluttony - How community and faith support healing from disordered eating Connect with Stephanie - Website: https://www.shinerising.com/membership Podcast: The Pulse Project Podcast - https://pulseproject25.podbean.com/ Resources & Links - Join the $5 text program to live a more present life: https://catholicwoman.co/present Subscribe on YouTube: www.youtube.com/@TheCatholicWomanPodcast Join Marie’s text community for episode updates and behind-the-scenes messages.
