Why Are FBAs Drawing Lines Against Africans and Caribbeans?
2026/09/13
Monique and Kevin unpack the growing controversy around the term "Foundational Black Americans" and why some people use it to draw a hard line between descendants of U.S. slavery and African, Caribbean, and other Black immigrant groups. They contrast ethnic tribalism with a Christian view of identity rooted in Christ rather than ancestry, struggle, or skin.

Students Who Can’t Read or Write — And They Don’t Care
2026/09/06
Monique and Kevin respond to educator Darius Cooks’ viral video about high school seniors who cannot read or write a simple sentence. They argue the core problem is not funding or “systemic racism,” but culture. Many students lack the desire to care, homes often provide little accountability. Drawing on sociologist, John Ogbu’s work and a Texas report on F-rated majority-Black schools, they discuss parental responsibility, school choice over “representation,” homeschooling and church-based alternatives, and the need to give young people vision, agency, and a foundation in being made in God’s image.

Can the Black Family Be Restored?
2026/07/19
In this episode, we sit down with Delano Squires, author of The Vanishing Black Family, to explore one of the most important and often overlooked issues facing America today. Together, we discuss the cultural, moral, and social forces contributing to the decline of the Black family and why fatherhood, marriage, and strong communities matter. Delano explains why he believes lasting renewal requires more than political solutions and points to the vital role of faith, personal responsibility, and the church in rebuilding what has been lost. Whether you agree or disagree, this thoughtful conversation will challenge you to think more deeply about family, culture, and the future of the Black community through a biblical worldview.

2026/07/05
Monique sits down with Pierre Wilson, head of TPUSA RISE, to discuss bringing the gospel and a message of personal agency into black, Hispanic, and Asian communities. The Real Reason for Black Violence: Culture, Not Racism
2026/06/27
In this raw and unfiltered episode, Monique and Kevin pull back the curtain on the real reason behind the tragic levels of violence in Black communities: culture, not racism. Fathers Are the Missing Pillars of the Black Community
2026/06/21
Happy Father’s Day! In this special re-release episode of Off Code, we revisit our powerful conversation from three years ago with Pastor and author Brian Shannon, author of Missing Pillars: America’s Black Fatherless Crisis and How the Christian Church Helped Me Overcome It.
Brian unpacks the historical strength of Black two-parent families post-slavery, the “perfect storm” of 1960s cultural and policy shifts that drove fatherlessness from 25% to over 70% in two decades, and the real human cost when fathers are absent. He shares his personal testimony of growing up fatherless and how the gospel and the church restored him.
Whether you’re a dad, single parent, or community leader, this conversation challenges victimhood and calls us toward personal responsibility and flourishing. Grab Missing Pillars and join the discussion.

Black Baptist Leaders Warned About Marxism Decades Ago
2026/06/14
Before the marches, before the movements, there was a battle. And most of us were never taught who fought it or who lost. Monique and Kevin sit down with Dr. Karen Ellis, theological ethicist and researcher at The Center for Christian Endurance, to uncover the largely erased story of Black Baptist leaders who recognized Marxist ideological pressure for what it was and refused it. The painful irony Dr. Ellis's research surfaces is this: what the Black church once bled to keep out has now largely been welcomed in, dressed in justice language and preached from Black pulpits as if it were gospel. This is not merely a history lesson. It's a warning and a call.
