Bordeaux Unpicked: Moueix
2026/06/04
In this episode of Bordeaux Unpicked 2025, the team explores the wines of the renowned Moueix family, reflecting on tastings at Château Bélair-Monange and later in London. They discuss the standout qualities of the 2025 vintage, highlighting the elegance, balance, and terroir expressions across the range, from approachable favourites such as Peymouton to celebrated estates including Hosanna, La Fleur-Pétrus, Bélair-Monange, and Trotanoy. Alongside tasting notes and vineyard insights, the episode offers listeners a glimpse of one of the most respected collections of wines on the right bank of Bordeaux.
Bordeaux Unpicked: Rocheyron
2026/05/27
We turn our attention to Château Rocheyron, the Saint-Émilion estate of renowned winemaker Peter Sisseck. Best known for Dominio de Pingus in Spain, Sisseck has over the past fifteen years refined Rocheyron into one of the most exciting ‘new’ estates on the right bank of Bordeaux. Join us as we explore the story behind the property, its unique limestone terroir, the evolution of its biodynamic approach, and why the 2025 vintage is generating such enthusiasm among critics, customers and the C&B team alike.
Bordeaux Unpicked: Mitjavile Family Releases
2026/05/21
Bordeaux can feel formulaic until you encounter the Mitjaviles. In this episode, we dive into the much loved Right Bank wines of François and Louis Mitjavile - Tertre Roteboeuf, Roc de Cambes, and L’Aurage - and the radical philosophy behind them. These are wines of late-picked fruit, haunting aromatics and velvet-textured tannins, built for emotion rather than conformity. Alongside standout 2025 tastings, including a potentially benchmark L’Aurage, we explore why these wines are among Bordeaux’s unmistakable blind-tasting signatures, and why a mature Tertre Roteboeuf can humble the best of them.
Bordeaux Unpicked: The 2025 Vintage
2026/05/18
Welcome to the 2025 Bordeaux En Primeur Campaign! In this episode, the Fine Wine team discusses the key elements about the 2025 vintage, from the growing season to market insights, ahead of their official visit to the region.
Burgundy Unpicked: 2024 Domaine François Carillon
2026/02/20
François Carillon is the 16th generation of a winemaking family which traces its Burgundian roots back to 1520. Since his first vintage in 2010, François has proven his domaine to be both a worthy successor to the much-loved wines of his father, Louis Carillon, as well as making some of the most exciting modern white Burgundies.
Following the retirement of Louis, the vineyards were divided between the two sons, François and his brother Jacques. Domaine François Carillon sits in the very centre of the village of Puligny-Montrachet. The wines hit the sweet spot between pristine fruit, precise acidity and textural richness, which we adore. François’ sons Mathis and Paul have recently joined the domaine full time. The future is looking particularly rosy here.
The 2024s were harvested earlier than usual, in the first two weeks of September by a team of 50 pickers. The grapes were immediately pressed on reception, and the juice was left in tank to cool prior to fermentation. The majority of barrels used are 350-litre capacity. Always looking to expand his horizons, François has also produced a Beaujolais Blanc this year.
Corney & Barrow has been the domaine’s exclusive UK agent since the inaugural 2010 vintage and are proud to work with the wines in Hong Kong, Singapore and Shanghai
Burgundy Unpicked: 2024 Château de la Tour
2026/02/13
In this episode, Joe and Guy are joined by René to discuss the 2024 vintage en primeur release of Château de la Tour.
Established in 1890, Château de la Tour is the largest proprietor of the Clos de Vougeot. This may just be the most complete expression of the mighty Clos, as the the domaine’s 5.5 hectares represent 11% of the appellation. The château itself is one of only three buildings in the Clos de Vougeot. The domaine was passed down from François Labet’s mother’s family. Today, it is run by father and son team François and Édouard.
Château de la Tour lost an awful 60% of its crop in 2024. The final yield, after two lots of sorting, was just 19hl/ha. Whole-bunch fermentation was kept to a maximum of 20%. Fortunately, there is no lack of natural power in the Clos de Vougeot and in 2024, that power has been rendered rather wonderfully into a sweet-fruited approachability and a suppleness of expression that allows the terroir character full visibility.
Burgundy Unpicked: 2023 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti
2026/02/11
The ambition of attempting to describe the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti's 2023 vintage in just one word is absurd, but there is an elemental quality to these wines that takes them beyond the other recent great solar vintages of 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022, and into something unique. The magic lies in the individual vineyards' ability to remain faithful, even transparent, to their sense of place, their individual terroirs. Join Guy, Will and Joe as they discuss this "primordial" vintage and their impressions of each of the Domaine's wines. The team also discusses what is drinking well and what they predict to be ready to drink soon...
Burgundy Unpicked: 2024 Offer Highlights
2026/01/14
In this episode, the Fine Wine team explores the intricacies of the 2024 Burgundy vintage, delving into the challenges faced by producers and the resulting characteristics of this year’s wines. Join Will, Joe, Aaran, Neville and Rene as they share insights from their tastings and experiences in the region as well as their top picks from our recent Burgundy en primeur tasting in London.
Burgundy Unpicked: 2024 Vintage Report
2025/12/16
It's time for one of the most anticipated episodes of the year! Guy (Head of Fine Wine Buying) and Joe (Head of Monopole) are back in the studio with Will (Head of Fine Wine Sales), to discuss the 2024 Burgundy vintage. Following on from their many visits to the region, the team gives a detailed insight into the 2024 growing season, samples tasted and comparable vintages.
The team is hugely excited about the 2024s, which are elegant and fresh. The cooler season has made for a traditional style that will appeal to Burgundy lovers seeking aroma, verve and fresh drinkability.
The whites deliver chiselled citrus fruit with an impressive acid backbone — the best will rival the 2014s.
Burgundy’s 2024 wet spring and summer hit yields, particularly of Pinot Noir in the Côte de Nuits. By contrast, the hardier Chardonnay grapes saw near-normal volumes in places, albeit with notable exceptions in Chablis, due to frost and hail, and parts of Puligny-Montrachet. However, sustained spells of sunny, breezy weather in August and September kept the vines healthy and brought ripeness over the line.
The 2024s are wines of panache that have a place in every Burgundy collection.
Burgundy Unpicked: 2024 Domaine Leflaive
2025/12/09
The Corney & Barrow Fine Wine Team is back with a brand new season of Burgundy Unpicked, which can only mean one thing: Domaine Leflaive 2024 is about to be released. The first in our lineup of Burgundy en primeur releases, Domaine Leflaive is, without question, one of the highlights of the year. Listen to Guy, Joe, and Will as they discuss tasting the 2024 vintage at the domaine, this time with new Leflaive Technical Director, Amandine Brillanceau, who took over from Pierre Vincent earlier in 2025, following a seven-year stint at Louis Jadot.
Unpicked: Giacomo Conterno & Nervi-Conterno
2025/09/05
The Fine Wine team is back in the recording studio to discuss a gem of the beautiful Piemonte region: Giacomo Conterno. Now at the helm of this celebrated Barolo house, having assumed the mantle on his father Giovanni’s untimely death in 2004, Roberto Conterno has not accepted the responsibility lightly. Hard work and attention to detail, allied to near fanatical traditionalism and perfectionism, has produced award-winning wines year on year in the Barolo estate, as well as in the higher altitudes of Gattinara, where his Alto Piemonte venture Nervi-Conterno is located. Gear up for a deep dive into the Conterno world, including the latest releases from Giacomo Conterno and a few recommendations for foodies...
Unpicked: A Trip to Germany
2025/07/30
Following the final episode of Bordeaux Unpicked Season 2, Will and Guy turn their attention to Germany — a country close to Corney & Barrow’s heart, and home to iconic producers such as Wwe. Dr. H. Thanisch and Joh. Jos. Prüm of the Mosel, and A. Christmann in Pfalz. Fresh from their recent trip, they offer an overview of the regions, their viticulture and winemaking practices (including experiments with AI) and, crucially, the outlook for the 2024 vintage.
Bordeaux Unpicked: 2024 Campaign Wrap-Up Report
2025/06/11
The Fine Wine team is joined by C&B Bordeaux Buyer & Senior Broker Marc Ditcham to discuss their final thoughts on the 2024 Bordeaux en primeur campaign.
Bordeaux Unpicked: Château Trotanoy & Other Releases
2025/06/05
In our second to last episode before the close of the 2024 Bordeaux campaign, the Fine Wine team, joined for the first time by Broking's Max Edge, discuss one of the most exciting releases of the year: Château Trotanoy. Exclusive to Corney & Barrow and owned by the Moueix family, this wine is the purest expression of Pomerol, according to Head of Monopole Joe Muller, who boldly proclaims: "if you like Pomerol but have no Trotanoy in your cellar or reserves, then you do not like Pomerol." Would you agree?
Bordeaux Unpicked: Château Rocheyron & Other Releases
2025/05/23
As another week in the Bordeaux 2024 campaign draws to a close and we enter the final few weeks, Joe, Will, Guy and Neville still have plenty to discuss! Kicking off with Peter Sisseck's Château Rocheyron 2024 — a great success of the vintage — they then offer their thoughts on the Clarence Dillon stable, Ausone, Leoville Poyferré, and more.
