Hustle Culture, Almond Mums, and Monster Energy (not spon)

This week we are recording off the back of Caitlin’s nightshift, but this doesn’t stop our trail of tangents. From Caitlin’s rogue admission of cracking into a Monster from time to time, PJ’s moment of true body appreciation, growing up in an ‘almond mum’ era and intolerance for BS. Plus what was Caitlin’s role in High School Musical that wasn’t that… musical? Mid-Run Bonking, Boob Tape, UFO’s and the Meaning of Life
2026/09/14
This week, the girls have a gin whilst recording and all of the big topics are discussed. What is the meaning of life? Are UFO’s real, are ballsacks nutritious and how the hell do you actually put on boob tape. But on a serious note, because we are all about light and shade we talk about the harm of data obsession and PJ talks about the reality of losing her beautiful Dad, 7 years on. This week on the show we dive straight in with some running chat because we need to talk about Caitlin’s wild achievement of running 50km!!! Excuse me WHAT?! Midlife crisis much… Mixed in with a gripe about moon cups, missed periods, a dolphin pregnancy scare and gratitude for our parents doing it all for the first time too. 2026/08/31
Best friends. Hot takes. A thousand things to unpack. PJ Harding and Caitlin Marett have been best friends for 18 years and are now living two very different lives at opposite ends of Aotearoa. Brought together by their shared love of storytelling and a desire to make people feel happy, hopeful and seen. This podcast is an authentic catch up between two friends each week sharing the good, the bad and the straight up awkward mixed in with a healthy dose of nostalgia. A place where you can hopefully laugh, reflect and feel good about being exactly who you are. Because as life gets away on us and often feels like a daze, these actually are the days of our lives! Bonus Episode: What did investing look like 30 years ago?
2026/07/15
Think back to 1996. Dial-up internet, bulky desktop computers and no KiwiSaver. Investing looked very different. And most New Zealanders had never even heard of Exchange Traded Funds. In this special episode of Slow it Down, PJ sits down with Nadine Higgins to explore 30 years of investing in New Zealand, how access has changed, and how kiwis can get started on their investing journey to build wealth for the future. For 30 years, Smart’s been helping New Zealanders invest and grow their wealth, including launching NZ’s first Exchange Traded Fund back in 1996.  Find out more at smartinvest.co.nz This episode is proudly supported by Smart. A real deep and meaningful with Matty McLean

You'd maybe think after doing a radio show with Matty McLean every single day for years we'd have run out of things to talk about, but clearly you don't know how much we love talking! This week I'm chatting with my dear friend about his recent move to the countryside with his husband Ryan, his high school experience, the difficulty of coming out in the public eye and so so much more! This was such a great opportunity for a deep and meaningful with Matty, and a chance to chat about things we usually don't have a chance to talk about on the radio and I really hope you enjoy it! This week on the show I am joined by Jacqui Beaver. Jax's work sits at the intersection of human potential, leadership and creating intentional lives. Flashback: Finding The Light Again with Janelle Brunton-Rennie
2026/06/06
This episode contains content that maybe distressing to some listeners Another week, another set of tech issues. So this week I've decided to do a little throwback to one of the very first episodes of Slow It Down This episode of Slow It Down is a little heavier than we usually go, but it's an important and inspiring story. Janelle Brunton-Rennie is one of the strongest people I know, and she speaks to me this week about navigating losing a partner and how important resilience is when we hit periods of grief in our life. Grief isn't openly discussed in western culture, and this episode shines a light on what it's like on the inside, and I’m so grateful to be able to share it. Janelle also has some amazing rituals that she has developed to find moments of bliss which she still uses today.  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
