2026/10/23
Can AI make you a better forex trader without predicting market movements? In this episode of Let’s Talk Forex, Alison and Chris explore five practical ways to use AI tools like ChatGPT to improve your trading research, prepare for economic events, challenge your assumptions and learn from your trading history. Rather than relying on AI-generated trade signals or price predictions, they explain how AI can support better-informed decisions and a more disciplined trading process. In this episode, you'll learn: How to use AI to find and summarise relevant forex market news How to create a weekly economic calendar and prepare for major announcements What makes an effective AI prompt for forex trading How to analyse economic data and central bank decisions How to challenge confirmation bias and test your trading assumptions How to review your trading journal and identify recurring mistakes Why reliable sources, accurate timestamps and fact-checking matter The limitations and risks of using AI in forex trading Alison and Chris also share five practical AI prompts covering daily market research, economic event planning, post-event analysis, bias checking and trading journal reviews. Each prompt is designed to help you get more useful information from AI without relying on it to tell you what to trade. The key takeaway? AI can be a valuable trading assistant, but it cannot replace your judgement, predict the market or eliminate trading risk. Does Your Forex Strategy Actually Work? Backtesting & Forward Testing
2026/10/16
A few winning trades or a high win rate don't necessarily mean your forex trading strategy is profitable. So how can you tell whether your strategy has a genuine edge before risking real money? In this episode of Let's Talk Forex, Alison and Chris discuss how to properly test a trading strategy, measure its performance and decide when it might be ready for live trading. They explore the differences between backtesting and forward testing, why win rate alone can be misleading, and how factors such as expectancy, drawdown, trading costs and market conditions affect long-term results. You'll also learn why a strategy with a 40% win rate can still be profitable before costs, why losing streaks are a normal part of trading, and how to distinguish a flawed strategy from poor execution. When NOT to Trade Forex | 5 Rules Every Trader Needs
2026/10/09
Knowing when not to trade Forex can be just as important as knowing when to enter. In this episode of Let’s Talk Forex, we break down five situations where stepping aside may be the better decision: poor market conditions, major news events, an incomplete setup, an unstable trading mindset, and reaching your daily loss limit. We explain how to recognise choppy and ranging markets, why higher spreads and major economic releases can make execution less predictable, and how to determine whether a setup actually meets the rules in your trading plan. We also look at the warning signs of emotional trading, including revenge trading, overconfidence and the pressure to recover losses. Finally, we run through a practical five-question pre-trade checklist covering market conditions, news, setup quality, mindset and daily risk limits, and explain how a trading journal can help you track both the trades you take and the trades you correctly decide to skip. Forex Win Rate vs Risk Reward | What Actually Makes a Strategy Profitable?
2026/10/02
Does a high Forex win rate mean you have a profitable trading strategy? Not necessarily. In this episode of Let’s Talk Forex, we explain how win rate, risk-to-reward and trading expectancy work together, and why looking at any one of these numbers in isolation can give you the wrong picture. We compare an 80% win-rate strategy with a 40% win-rate strategy to show how the size of your average winners and losers can matter just as much as how often you win. We then break down risk-to-reward ratios, why simply targeting 1:3 or 1:5 doesn't automatically improve a strategy, and how positive expectancy helps measure what your trading results look like over a larger sample. We also look at the difference between your planned risk-to-reward and the results you actually achieve, including how closing winners early or allowing losses to run can completely change the numbers behind your strategy. Finally, we explain which statistics are worth tracking in a trading journal: win rate, average winner, average loser, risk-to-reward and expectancy, and why a losing trade doesn't necessarily mean you made a bad trading decision. Price Action vs Indicators | Which Is Better For Forex Trading?
2026/09/25
Price action vs indicators: Which is better for Forex trading? In this episode of Let’s Talk Forex, we compare both approaches and explain where each is useful, where each can fail, and how to combine them without overcomplicating your chart. We cover market structure, support and resistance, breakouts, moving averages, RSI and ATR, including why indicators should support your analysis rather than replace it. Using a practical EUR/USD example, we show a price-first framework: read the structure, identify the location, wait for confirmation, then use selected indicators to assess trend, momentum and volatility. We also cover common mistakes like indicator stacking, using patterns without context and over-optimising settings. How To Build A Forex Trading Plan | 5 Rules For Execution
2026/09/18
How do you build a Forex trading plan that you can actually follow under pressure? In this episode, we break down a practical trading plan into five key areas: the markets you trade, your setup rules, risk management, trading hours and your review process. We explain how to create objective entry conditions using context, location, triggers, invalidation and targets, and why your risk and position size should be defined before you place a trade. We also cover correlated exposure, daily loss limits, trading around major news events and why having a defined trading schedule can reduce unnecessary decisions. Using a EUR/USD trend-continuation example, we show how these rules can be combined into a complete setup and why an “almost” valid setup should not become a trade simply because you don't want to miss the move. Finally, we look at how to use a trading journal to review execution, identify rule-breaking and separate strategy performance from your own decision-making. The goal is to create a simple one-page trading plan that is clear enough to follow when the market becomes uncertain. Support & Resistance Zones | Breakouts, Retests & Liquidity
2026/09/11
Support and resistance work better as zones rather than exact price levels. In this episode, we explain how to identify support and resistance zones, understand the liquidity around them, and distinguish genuine breakouts from false breakouts. We look at why price often moves beyond obvious support or resistance before reversing, how clustered orders can create liquidity around key levels, and why a wick through a zone doesn't necessarily confirm a breakout. We also look at how to assess candle closes, follow-through and breakout retests, use higher-timeframe context, evaluate repeated tests of a zone, and think about stop-loss placement without simply putting a stop beyond the most obvious high or low. Forex Trading Psychology | The 4 Emotions That Break Your Trading Plan
2026/09/04
Forex trading psychology can have a major impact on how well you follow your trading plan. In this episode of Let’s Talk Forex, we look at four emotions that commonly influence traders: fear, greed, FOMO and revenge trading. We explain how fear can lead to closing trades too early, why greed can change your risk and profit targets, how FOMO creates pressure to chase price, and why revenge trading can turn a loss into an emotional decision. We also introduce the PAUSE framework, a practical five-step process for recognising emotional decisions before they become actions. We cover position sizing, loss limits, journaling, and how to distinguish a genuine change in your setup from a change in your emotional state. Finally, we explain why good trading psychology isn't about becoming emotionless. It's about building a process that helps you make more disciplined decisions when those emotions inevitably appear.   Watch the full episode here: https://youtu.be/D2tlY9hTXbs  Check out FxScouts Trading Journal: https://journal.fxscouts.com/    FxScouts Disclaimer Forex and CFD trading involves significant risk, and you may lose money rapidly due to leverage. Forex Risk Management | Why a 1% Risk Rule Isn’t Enough
2026/08/28
Is risking 1% per trade enough to manage your Forex trading risk? In this episode, we explain why effective risk management goes far beyond choosing a percentage and placing a stop loss. We break down position sizing, stop-loss placement, risk-to-reward ratios, correlated exposure, daily loss limits and drawdowns, including how to calculate position size based on your stop distance rather than forcing your stop to fit a predetermined lot size. You’ll also see why a 2:1 risk-reward ratio doesn’t automatically make a trade worthwhile, how larger drawdowns become increasingly difficult to recover from, and why total account exposure matters when you have multiple positions open. Finally, we run through a practical pre-trade risk checklist designed to bring more structure and consistency to your trading decisions. Watch the episode on YouTube here! Forex Market Structure & Timeframe Analysis | Swings, Ranges & Breakouts
2026/08/21
How do you read Forex market structure across different timeframes? In this episode of Let’s Talk Forex, we break down swing highs and lows, uptrends, downtrends, ranges and breakouts to show how price structure can help you understand what the market is actually doing. We explain how to identify higher highs, higher lows, lower highs and lower lows, how to distinguish a trend from a range-bound market, and why breakout confirmation matters. We also cover multi-timeframe analysis and how higher and lower timeframes can show very different parts of the same price move. Using a practical EUR/USD example, we walk through range breakouts, retests and invalidation, before covering some of the most common market structure mistakes traders make. You’ll also get a simple five-step process for analysing a chart more consistently. Watch the episode on YouTube here! And please try out our Trading Journal here! Season 9 is Here: 4 Big Forex Trading Mistakes We’ve Seen Over the Years (And What Matters)
2026/08/14
Why do so many Forex traders fail to become consistently profitable? The problem is often not a lack of Forex trading strategies or technical analysis, but unrealistic expectations, poor risk management, weak trading discipline and the absence of a repeatable trading process. In the first Let's Talk Forex episode of the new season, we break down four common problems that can hold Forex traders back and explain what process-led traders do differently. We discuss why setting unrealistic profit expectations can lead to overtrading, how excessive risk and leverage can change your decision-making, why trading discipline becomes most important when you're under pressure, and how to build a repeatable process that can actually be measured and improved. We also look at the importance of trading psychology, capital preservation, position sizing, drawdowns and trading journals — including why judging your performance from one winning or losing trade can give you a completely false picture of your trading.
