Some days I feel victorious, but most days I’m just trying to keep all the plates spinning—getting the kids where they need to be, checking off the to‑do list, squeezing in a little creativity, and maybe ending the day with enough energy left to breathe. When I think of being pampered, my mind goes straight to rare spa days or the simple joy of someone else cooking for me—those small, unexpected moments that feel abundant and thoughtful. I’ll never forget the day my son wandered straight into the path of a speeding bike, completely unaware while I called his name louder and louder. My frustration wasn’t really about his behavior—it was that he didn’t hear me when I was trying to protect him, when all I wanted was for him to trust that I was guiding him toward safety. Sometimes I think about how few things I’ve truly seen “from the beginning.” Even with my own kids—whom I met on their very first day—I’m still discovering who they’re becoming, reminding me that most beginnings start long before we ever notice them. Crowds can bring out the best or worst in us, and I still remember the first time I stepped into one after the pandemic—my heart raced, my chest tightened, and I had to escape just to breathe again. So when I read the story of the woman who pushed through a crushing crowd just to reach Jesus, I can only imagine the courage it took for her to show up in her pain, her isolation, and her desperation. Her story reminds us that even when we feel unseen or defined by the things we’d rather hide, Jesus meets us with healing, dignity, and a tenderness that calls us by faith, not by our suffering.
