Description

Motherhood isn’t quiet, but the world always told us to be.  Welcome to The Silent Mother Project with Sam Richardson, a storytelling podcast for the moms who’ve carried entire worlds on their backs and were still told to “be grateful” and “stay strong.” Sam became a mom at 18, lost her first daughter to congenital heart disease, survived trauma she never asked for, and built a life rooted in healing, advocacy, and speaking out loudly. This is her diary in podcast form: honest, messy, funny, painful, and empowering. Here we talk identity after motherhood, raising kids with trauma, the grief you don’t post about, the online chaos, the content creator life, and what it means to keep going when life keeps throwing plot twists. If you’ve ever felt voiceless, invisible, or like you’re drowning while holding everyone else up, this is your space.

Candace's Story: The Green Epstein Files
2026/10/11
Send Sam Fan Mail In this episode of The Silent Mother Project, Sam Richardson sits down with Candace Baldwin, a survivor who refused to stay silent about decades of sexual abuse at Green Local Schools in Uniontown, Ohio.  After years of advocacy, Candace's primary abuser, former middle school teacher Gary Daniel Huff, was recently arrested following a grand jury indictment. But Dan Huff isn't the only name on what Candace calls "The Green Epstein List." Candace reveals allegations of a toxic "boys club" culture at Green Local Schools dating back to the 1970s, naming multiple teachers as abusers or complicit watchers. She details how school administration and the Summit County Sheriff's Office allegedly covered up abuse, silenced survivors, and treated her like a criminal; issuing a trespassing ban, following her at a football game with six to seven sheriffs, and allowing her to be assaulted by the athletic director. This is a story about institutional betrayal, survivor courage, and the fight for justice when those in power protect predators instead of children. Candace's legal battle continues, with the next pretrial hearing scheduled for mid-November. Her message is clear: silence protects abusers, and she's done being quiet. Content Warning: This episode contains detailed discussions of sexual abuse, institutional trauma, victim retaliation, and systemic cover-ups. Listener discretion is advised. Melissa's Story
2026/09/09
Send Sam Fan Mail In this deeply moving episode of The Silent Mother Project, Sam sits down with Melissa, a mother whose journey through grief and healing began when her daughter, Audrey, was born at just 24 weeks and lived for two days. Melissa shares her experience in the NICU, the emotional aftermath of infant loss, and how she began finding meaning within the silence that followed. Together, Sam and Melissa explore what it means to mother a child who is no longer earthside, the complexities of parenting after loss, and the power of sharing our stories as a path toward healing. Melissa also opens up about writing and self-publishing her children’s book, Hello, Little Love, a heartfelt tribute to Audrey and the love that continues beyond loss. Her story is a tender reminder that grief and motherhood are not separate experiences. They often exist side by side. Whether you have experienced loss yourself or want to better support someone who has, Melissa’s vulnerability and strength will stay with you long after the episode ends. From losing her first daughter, Kaydance, to navigating grief, mental health, and the complicated realities of raising a family while carrying trauma, Sam speaks openly about the experiences that shaped both the woman she became and the community she would eventually build. Lauren's Story
2026/08/28
Send Sam Fan Mail Lauren’s story is one of survival, resilience, and building a life entirely her own.  After becoming homeless as a teenager when her parents couldn’t accept that she was gay, she went on to survive domestic violence, become a single mom, and work her ass off to create a future for herself and her child. Today, Lauren has her MSW, is a therapist, and has worked in child protective services, bringing both lived experience and professional expertise to the work she does. After more than three hours of conversation, I’m so excited to finally share her story and officially introduce Lauren De Matteis as the President of The Silent Mother Project.  Support the show thesilentmotherproject.com
Who Would I Be Without My Trauma
2026/07/19
Send Sam Fan Mail Who would I be if trauma had never touched my life? It's a question I've been sitting with lately, and one that led to a much bigger realization. So many of the topics I've been asked to talk about—grief, motherhood, child loss, CPTSD, healing, identity—aren't separate stories at all. They're all connected. In this episode, I'm opening up about what trauma has taken from me, what it's taught me, and the complicated process of figuring out who I am beyond survival mode. I share how losing Kaydance shaped my life, how CPTSD still shows up in everyday moments, and why healing isn't about pretending the past never happened, it's about learning to live alongside it without letting it define every piece of who you are. If you've ever wondered who you were before the pain, or who you're becoming after it, I hope this conversation reminds you that your trauma may be part of your story, but it doesn't have to be the whole story. Thank you for letting me share mine. Support the show thesilentmotherproject.com
Three Tired Moms Trying To Make A Difference

Not Everything Happens Online
2026/05/12
Send Sam Fan Mail A lot has happened since I last hit record. In this episode, I’m catching you up on everything, the chaos, the burnout, the online noise, the personal growth, and the reason I knew something had to change. I’m sharing where I’ve been mentally and emotionally, why The Silent Mother Project has evolved into something bigger than a podcast and introducing two incredibly important people helping me build it alongside me, Addy and Lauren. This isn’t a polished “comeback", just an honest conversation. Because not everything happens online, and maybe we all need to remember to live life offline a little more. I Am the Silent Mother
2025/10/24
Send Sam Fan Mail Welcome to Season Three: Life Unmuted. In this opening episode, Sam breaks down the origins of Living Richardson and The Silent Mother Project, and why she’s done shrinking herself to be taken seriously. She speaks candidly about child loss, CPTSD, survival mode, motherhood, and what it means to stop performing and start living on her own terms. This season is for anyone who has ever been told to be quiet, to be grateful, to be strong without breaking.  The silence ends here. Support the show thesilentmotherproject.com
When Freedom of Speech Becomes Fear
2025/09/19
Send Sam Fan Mail In this episode of Living Richardson, Sam unpacks what it feels like when the right to speak stops feeling safe. From the murders of Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, to the assassination of Charlie Kirk, to a local uproar over coach-led prayer, the headlines aren’t just news, they’re personal. As a mom of three, a volunteer cheer coach, and someone who has been sued, gagged, and even held in contempt of court for speaking out, Sam shares her full story: the neighbor dispute that spiraled into a two-year legal battle, the camera that invaded her family’s privacy, and how she unexpectedly became known online as the “Queen of the Glory Holes.” This is an honest and raw conversation about trauma, resilience, and refusing to be silenced. It’s about the cost of free speech, the power of community, and why silence never protected any of us. Support the show thesilentmotherproject.com
Scorched Earth Hysterics
2025/09/05
Send Sam Fan Mail They’ve called me hysterical. They’ve accused me of having a “scorched earth policy.” And most recently, they tried to brand me with “scorched earth hysterics.” But what the world labels as hysteria is often survival. In this episode, I reclaim the words that were meant to silence me. From the lawsuit that nearly broke me, to the red-flag radar that comes with living with CPTSD, to the online harassment that keeps resurfacing, I’m pulling it all into the light. Because being loud and assertive doesn’t make me dangerous. It makes me someone who isn’t afraid to use her voice when one is needed. Together, we’ll dig into how trauma responses are mislabeled, how dismissal costs survivors their safety, and how what others call hysteria can actually be one of our greatest strengths. This is not destruction, it’s survival. This is Scorched Earth Hysterics. Support the show thesilentmotherproject.com
From Survival to Storytelling
2025/08/29
Send Sam Fan Mail In this deeply personal episode, Samantha Richardson pulls back the curtain on her journey - from being the “too much” kid raised in chaos, to surviving childhood abuse and the loss of her first daughter, to building Living Richardson in the middle of trauma, to fighting a two-year lawsuit that left lasting scars. Sam shares how her voice has carried her through survival, why storytelling became her lifeline, and how it grew into advocacy through The Silent Mother Project. Raw, unfiltered, and unapologetically honest - this is the story behind Living Richardson. Support the show thesilentmotherproject.com
When Healing Feels Like Losing: How I Found Myself In Motherhood
2025/04/24
Send Sam Fan Mail What if healing doesn’t feel like peace, but like grief? In this raw and unfiltered episode, Sam opens up about what it really looks like to heal while mothering. From losing old identities to outgrowing relationships that only valued her performance, she explores the quiet heartbreak of becoming someone new, and the surprising joy she found in the middle of it all. This is for the mothers healing in silence. The women rediscovering themselves in the stillness. The ones who are grieving their old selves while slowly, painfully, beautifully growing into someone more grounded, more present, more whole. Sam also shares the truth about being a stay-at-home mom for ten years and what it means now that her house is quiet, and the noise she’s left to face within herself. And for those who resonated with this episode, Sam introduces The Silent Mother Project, a nonprofit and growing community for mothers carrying invisible grief and untold stories. Because no mother should have to heal alone. 🔗 Learn more at thesilentmotherproject.com Support the show thesilentmotherproject.com
