133. BTS of My Shamanic Medicine Journey
2026/09/17
What happens when you've done a lot of healing on your own…and you intuitively know you're ready for a different kind of support? This week, I'm taking a brief detour from our Q&A series to share a very personal, very recent experience: my first time sitting with Kambo, a traditional Amazonian medicine used in some Indigenous healing practices. I've been curious about shamanic and traditional healing modalities for years, but curiosity alone was never enough for me to participate. I've also seen these practices misused—especially in wellness and sobriety spaces—and I've always felt strongly that medicine work shouldn't become another way to bypass our emotions or hurry up our healing. After losing my dad and moving through more than a year of grief, something finally felt different. I felt ready. In this episode, I'm sharing what happened, why I chose Kambo, and what surprised me most about an experience I expected to be intensely physical—but which became something much gentler and more emotional. We'll talk about: Why I waited nearly 10 years into my alcohol-free journey before exploring shamanic medicine The difference between curiosity and genuinely feeling ready for a healing experience What Kambo is and what traditionally happens during a ceremony The preparation and dieta leading up to my experience The unexpected physical and emotional shifts that started before the ceremony even began Why my experience looked completely different from what I expected The moment I worried I was somehow "doing it wrong" What it felt like to be supported and witnessed through grief The lightness and reconnection I experienced afterward Why powerful healing experiences can also become another form of spiritual bypassing The importance of integration, discernment, trusted facilitators, and allowing healing to happen in its own timing This episode reflects my personal experience and is shared for educational and storytelling purposes only. It is not medical advice or a recommendation to participate in Kambo or any other traditional medicine practice. Have a question you'd like me to answer on an upcoming episode? 132. You Know Better…So Why Aren't You Doing Better?
2026/09/10
You know alcohol isn't helping you. You've read the books, listened to the podcasts, maybe even taken a few breaks from drinking. So why do you keep going back? In this episode of Unbottled Potential, I'm answering a listener question that I know so many intelligent, self-aware women wrestle with: If I know better, why am I not doing better? The problem is that changing your relationship with alcohol isn't simply an information problem. You can know everything there is to know about alcohol and still find yourself reaching for it because drinking has been doing a job for you—helping you escape emotional overwhelm, boredom, social discomfort, or feelings you haven't yet learned how to navigate differently. And when you focus only on removing alcohol without addressing what's underneath it, sobriety can feel like taking away your escape hatch without giving yourself another way out. In this episode, we talk about: Why highly intelligent women can get stuck trying to think their way out of drinking The difference between knowing information and actually actualizing it The "action under the action" that most sobriety challenges overlook What alcohol may actually be helping you avoid, manage, or achieve Why shame, fear, and a list of reasons you should stop drinking rarely create lasting change How finding an aspirational, deeply personal why can make alcohol-free living feel expansive instead of restrictive Why becoming someone who no longer needs alcohol requires more than simply practicing abstinence I'm also sharing details about the return of the Unbottled Potential Challenge this Sober October. We'll work through the Bottled Up Brilliance inquiry from Unbottled Potential together so you can examine your relationship with alcohol, get honest about what it's costing you, and begin building a life where alcohol no longer feels necessary. 131. Who Am I Now? Navigating Identity Shifts Without Alcohol
2026/09/03
What happens when the people, roles, and routines that have needed you for years suddenly… don't need you quite so much? In this first installment of a new coaching-style segment on Unbottled Potential, I'm answering a question I've been hearing from women again and again: I have more space in my life now, I can feel there's a bigger version of me waiting—but I don't know who she is, and I don't know how to find her while I'm still drinking every night. Whether you're becoming an empty nester, changing careers, setting new boundaries, becoming an entrepreneur, or simply stepping into the identity of a non-drinker, transitions can leave behind an uncomfortable amount of spaciousness. And when alcohol has been your reward, your "me time," your social life, or your way of shutting everything off at the end of the day, that space can feel especially unsettling. In this episode, we explore: Why identity shifts can make drinking feel more appealing, not less What might actually be underneath your nightly glass of wine Why women who have spent years orienting around everyone else can struggle to answer, "What do I want?" My extremely sophisticated theory that you are, in fact, a glorified houseplant The basic practices that can help you reconnect with yourself Why you may need actual hobbies again—and preferably some analog ones My personal rule of "fiction after 5:00" How creativity, curiosity, and spaciousness begin opening the door to your intuition Why the dream you can imagine for yourself right now may be much smaller than what becomes possible without alcohol You don't need to immediately know what your next chapter looks like. Your first job is simply to create enough space to become curious about it. Have a question you'd like me to coach on the podcast? Submit it at amandakuda.com/askamanda. Questions used on the show will remain anonymous. 130. My Wildest Take On Sobriety (An Intimate Look BTS)
2026/07/29
For nearly six years, I've been teaching the intersection of alcohol-free living and spiritual growth. More than a thousand women have come through my programs, but today I'm doing something I've never done before. I'm taking you inside my signature program, Stop Drinking, Start Manifesting. This episode begins with a behind-the-scenes conversation about why I created the program in the first place. When I stopped drinking, I couldn't find anything that reflected the way I saw the world. I wasn't looking for scare tactics or shame. I wasn't looking for endless meetings or labels that didn't resonate with me. I wanted something intellectually rich, spiritually grounded, and deeply practical. So I built it. After the introduction, you'll hear the original orientation from the program itself, where I explain the three-part framework that has guided hundreds of women through transforming not only their relationship with alcohol, but their relationship with themselves. If you've ever wondered what actually happens inside Stop Drinking, Start Manifesting, this episode will give you a front-row seat. In this episode we explore: Why traditional sobriety resources didn't resonate with me The missing connection between alcohol and spiritual growth The three-part framework behind Stop Drinking, Start Manifesting Why I recommend a 90-day alcohol-free commitment How spirituality becomes practical instead of performative What manifestation actually means (and what it doesn't) Why removing alcohol changes your relationship with intuition The mindset shift that makes sobriety feel expansive instead of restrictive If this episode speaks to you, I'd love to welcome you inside Stop Drinking, Start Manifesting. 129. 3 Myths About Finding Your Purpose in Sobriety
2026/07/23
Many women expect life to settle down once alcohol is out of the picture. Instead, something unexpected starts happening. You begin questioning the career you've built. The friendships you've maintained. The roles you've accepted. The version of success you once worked so hard to achieve. In this episode, Amanda explains why this isn't a crisis—it's often the natural next phase of an alcohol-free life. Drawing on Gay Hendricks' concept of the Zone of Genius, she explores why high-achieving women often become trapped on what she calls the "plateau of good enough"—a life that looks successful from the outside but no longer feels fully aligned. She also challenges three common myths that keep women stuck when they're ready for their next evolution, offering a more grounded, sustainable path toward meaningful work and authentic self-expression. In this episode you'll hear: Why career restlessness often shows up several years into an alcohol-free life How alcohol isn't the only system we eventually outgrow The difference between your Zone of Excellence and your Zone of Genius Why your current career may be funding your future instead of preventing it The myth of "jump and the net will appear" Why your purpose probably won't arrive in a perfectly packaged certification How curiosity—not certainty—is often the first step toward your next chapter If you've been feeling a quiet pull toward something bigger but can't quite explain it yet, this conversation is for you. 128. Why Taking Breaks From Alcohol Might Be Keeping You Stuck
2026/07/16
What if all those breaks you've taken from alcohol weren't actually giving your body enough time to experience what sobriety really feels like? After a recent reel on cumulative versus consecutive sobriety sparked a huge conversation online, Amanda decided it deserved a deeper conversation. In this episode, she explains why drinking less isn't necessarily the same as healing—and introduces the funnel analogy that's helping women finally understand why they can feel "stuck" even after months of taking breaks from alcohol. If you've ever wondered why Dry January, Sober October, or taking a week off each month hasn't created the transformation you were hoping for, this episode will completely reframe how you think about sobriety. In this episode, Amanda explores: The difference between cumulative sobriety and consecutive sobriety Why short breaks often aren't long enough to experience alcohol's full absence The funnel analogy that explains lingering effects in a simple way Why most women quit before they ever reach the point where real changes begin The emotional recovery that has to happen alongside the physical recovery Why resilience—not willpower—is ultimately what makes alcohol become insignificant If this episode resonates, share it with a friend who's been wondering whether taking "another break" is enough. 127. Sacred Subtraction: The Boundaries That Make Your Biggest Life Possible
2026/07/09
Have you ever noticed that removing alcohol doesn't automatically make life feel lighter? Sometimes sobriety simply gives you enough clarity to see everything else you've outgrown. If you've spent years being the dependable one, the helper, the high achiever, or the woman who says yes before she checks in with herself, there's a good chance your calendar—and your identity—are carrying far more than your soul was ever meant to. In this episode, I'm sharing a behind-the-scenes workshop from one of my private mastermind sessions on a practice I call Sacred Subtraction. Instead of asking, "What should I add to become my best self?" this process asks a far more powerful question: What needs to be released so the real you finally has room to emerge? Inside this episode, we'll explore: Why ambitious women often confuse busyness with purpose How alcohol can keep us comfortably stuck in lives we've already outgrown The difference between your Zone of Competence, Excellence, and Genius A simple audit to uncover where your time and energy are actually going How to decide what to delete, delegate, or defer Why saying "no" is often one of the most spiritual things you can do If you're alcohol-free—or even just beginning to question your relationship with alcohol—this conversation will help you create space for the version of yourself that's been waiting underneath all the obligations. Resources Mentioned DM me the word SUBTRACTION on Instagram and I'll send you the Sacred Subtraction worksheet used in this workshop. Interested in working together? 126. What if alcohol is just a distraction?
2026/07/02
Are you fighting the wrong battle? Most people think their biggest obstacle is alcohol. But what if alcohol is just the distraction? In this week's episode, Amanda shares a coaching conversation that revealed something much deeper: after alcohol is no longer running the show, many of us simply replace it with another distraction. The real work isn't just breaking the compulsion. It's learning what that compulsion was trying to do for you...and what it has been keeping you from all along. In this episode you'll learn: Why compulsions don't disappear—they often just change costumes. The three questions Amanda asks clients when they're feeling stuck. What alcohol was actually helping you achieve. How to build the skills alcohol temporarily replaced. Why your biggest distraction may actually be protecting you from your own greatness. How reclaiming your time and energy creates space for purpose, fulfillment, and manifestation. If you've already made progress with alcohol—or you know you're meant for something bigger but can't seem to move toward it—this episode will help you identify what's really standing in your way. 125. You're Not Addicted...So Why Is It So Hard To Stop Drinking?
2026/06/25
If you've ever Googled "Am I an alcoholic?" only to feel relieved...and somehow even more confused...this episode is for you. Because maybe you don't fit the traditional definition of addiction. Maybe you've taken breaks before. Maybe you've done Dry January. Maybe you tell yourself you'll only drink on weekends. And yet somehow alcohol keeps finding its way back into your life. The problem isn't that you're powerless. The problem is that we've never been given language for everything that exists between casual drinking and alcoholism. In this episode, Amanda introduces a framework that may completely change how you understand your relationship with alcohol. Instead of asking whether you're addicted, she explores the progression from ritual...to habit...to coping mechanism...to compulsion—and why so many high-achieving women find themselves stuck there. You'll walk away with a new way to understand why alcohol can feel so difficult to leave behind, even when you know it no longer fits the life you're trying to build. In this episode you'll learn: Why the "Am I an alcoholic?" question often misses the point The difference between rituals, habits, coping mechanisms and compulsions Why alcohol can become emotionally sticky without becoming an addiction How compulsions are designed to temporarily relieve anxiety while ultimately making it worse The surprising truth about what alcohol may actually be helping you avoid Why meaningful sobriety isn't just about removing alcohol—it's about building a life where alcohol becomes irrelevant If this episode resonated with you, I'd love to hear what part of the spectrum you recognized yourself in. 124. The Hidden Stages of Long-Term Sobriety
2026/06/18
Most conversations about sobriety focus on getting through the first 30, 60, or 90 days. But what happens after that? What happens when you've already quit drinking, built some confidence, and proven to yourself that you can live alcohol-free? In this episode, I'm sharing five common phases I've observed in women navigating years two through five of an alcohol-free life. These aren't official stages, and they certainly don't happen in a neat, linear order. But after nearly a decade alcohol-free and eight years coaching women through this journey, I've noticed some clear patterns. Many women assume the hardest part is quitting drinking. What often surprises them is that sobriety creates enough clarity for deeper questions to emerge: Who am I now? What no longer fits? What do I actually want? What am I here to do? In this episode, we explore the phases that tend to follow once alcohol is no longer taking up all the oxygen in the room. In this episode, you'll learn: Why many women outgrow their initial sobriety support systems The "reckoning" phase that often follows early sobriety How alcohol-free living exposes deeper misalignments in work, relationships, and lifestyle Why so many women become self-help and certification junkies The difference between collecting knowledge and implementing it How your ego can create chaos when life finally becomes peaceful Why you may find yourself romanticizing a past version of yourself The surprising danger of abandoning the routines that helped you get here How to recognize which phase you're currently navigating Why ongoing support matters long after you've stopped drinking If you've ever found yourself wondering, "I've quit drinking...so why does it still feel like there's more work to do?" this episode is for you. 123. When Sobriety Feels Easy, But Your Life Needs an Upgrade
2026/06/11
You quit drinking. Now what? For many women, the first phase of an alcohol-free lifestyle is focused on alcohol itself: cravings, habits, social situations, identity shifts, and learning how to navigate life without your go-to coping mechanism. But eventually something changes. Alcohol becomes less important. And that's when the deeper work begins. In this episode, Amanda explores why the tools that helped you get sober may not be the same tools that help you grow, reinvent yourself, or navigate your next chapter. You'll learn: • Why many alcohol-free women feel restless even after reaching their original sobriety goals • The difference between the "benefit of capacity" and the "curse of clarity" • Why misalignments in your career, relationships, creativity, and routines become more visible after alcohol is out of the way • How to identify which tools, structures, and support systems actually helped you create change • Why collecting courses, certifications, books, and resources isn't the same as implementing them • A simple inventory exercise to help you identify what support you need in this season • How to stop throwing spaghetti at the wall and start intentionally designing your next chapter If you've been alcohol-free for months or years and can feel that you're being called into a new version of yourself, this episode will help you understand why—and what to do next. 122. Reinvention, Plot Twists & The Clues Your Past Self Left Behind
2026/06/04
Episode 122: Reinvention, Plot Twists & The Clues Your Past Self Left Behind Nobody tells you that choosing an alcohol-free life is also choosing a life of reinvention. When we stop drinking, we stop numbing. We stop distracting ourselves. We stop settling for versions of our lives that no longer fit. And while that can be incredibly exciting, it can also feel disorienting, uncomfortable, and at times downright painful. In this episode, Amanda shares the four major reinventions that have shaped her life over the last decade, from her spiritual awakening and alcohol-free journey to becoming an entrepreneur, navigating profound grief, and moving through what she calls her "plot twist year." Along the way, she reflects on the lessons, books, mentors, and experiences that helped her navigate each chapter and reveals how those past reinventions are helping her move through her current season of change. If you're in the middle of an identity shift, a spiritual upgrade, a career pivot, a relationship transition, or simply feeling called toward something new, this episode is a reminder that you're not starting over. You're building on everything you've already learned. In this episode, you'll learn: • Why sobriety often becomes the catalyst for multiple reinventions throughout your life • The lesson Amanda learned after moving across the country and discovering that "wherever you go, there you are" • Why sacred subtraction is often more powerful than adding another self-improvement strategy • How leaving the wrong ladder can help you climb farther and faster • The surprising connection between grief, joy, and emotional resilience • What Amanda's "plot twist year" taught her about surrender, certainty, and trusting the process • Why your past reinventions contain clues for the season you're navigating right now Resources Mentioned: • The Power of Intention by Wayne Dyer • Spirit Junkie by Gabrielle Bernstein • A Return to Love by Marianne Williamson • The Gifts of Imperfection by Brené Brown • The Universe Has Your Back by Gabrielle Bernstein • The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks • Light Is the New Black by Rebecca Campbell Ready for your own reinvention? 121. Sober Through the Storm: How to Navigate A Plot Twist Year
2026/05/27
This week on Unbottled Potential, I'm opening up about something I know so many women are quietly experiencing right now… the disorienting season where your old identity no longer fits, but your new life hasn't fully come into focus yet. You might call it a dark night of the soul. An existential crisis. A spiritual awakening. An ego death. A plot twist year. Whatever name you give it, this episode is an honest conversation about what happens when life asks you to evolve… and how sobriety forces you to feel every piece of that transformation in real time. In this deeply personal episode, I share the behind-the-scenes story of my own "plot twist year" — navigating grief, major life transitions, career confusion, identity shifts, moving homes, new love, and the emotional unraveling that can happen even when beautiful things are unfolding. If you've been feeling lost, emotionally raw, disconnected from your old identity, or unsure who you're becoming… this episode is for you. Inside this episode: Why personal evolution often feels disorienting before it feels empowering The hidden grief that can come with positive life changes What happens when the "pink cloud" of sobriety fades Navigating major life transitions without numbing Why so many women are quietly experiencing identity shifts right now The emotional reality of outgrowing old versions of yourself How sobriety deepens your ability to process change, grief, and transformation The reminder you need if your life currently feels like a giant WTF moment If this episode resonated with you, I'd love to hear from you over on Instagram. 120. Three Sneaky Ways Alcohol Is Stunting Your Growth
2026/05/20
What if the thing keeping you stuck isn't obvious… because it's been socially normalized the entire time? In this episode of Unbottled Potential, Amanda breaks down the three subtle ways alcohol quietly keeps high-achieving, deeply feeling women from fully developing the emotional, social, and self-trust skills they actually need to thrive. This conversation goes far beyond "drinking too much." Because for many women, alcohol isn't the real problem… it's the coping mechanism covering up deeper misalignments. Amanda explores how alcohol becomes: A social crutch that keeps you from developing authentic confidence and connection A stress-management tool that masks burnout, over-functioning, and lack of boundaries An emotional off-switch that prevents you from fully processing and regulating your inner world If you've ever felt like your life looks successful on the outside but quietly feels heavy, disconnected, or slightly out of alignment underneath… this episode will likely hit home. Amanda also shares why simply removing alcohol often isn't enough. Without deeper support, many women end up white-knuckling sobriety instead of creating a life that genuinely feels nourishing, grounded, and aligned. This episode is especially for: Deep feelers and highly sensitive women High achievers carrying emotional weight for everyone else Women who feel "functional" but exhausted Sober curious, sober serious, and already alcohol-free women who still feel like something is missing You'll walk away with a deeper understanding of why alcohol has felt so necessary… and what becomes possible when you finally build the tools, emotional resilience, and self-trust underneath it all. Amanda also shares details about her upcoming live class, The Deep Feelers Diagnostic, happening May 27. 119. The 3 Hidden Misalignments Keeping Deep Feelers Stuck with Alcohol
2026/05/13
Have you ever wondered why your relationship with alcohol feels more emotionally charged than it "should" be? Why taking a break from drinking can feel simultaneously so right… and incredibly uncomfortable? In this deeply personal episode, Amanda shares a late-night spiritual download that completely shifted the direction of her work and revealed a powerful framework for understanding the deeper reasons many "deep feelers" struggle with alcohol. Because for sensitive, intuitive, high-achieving women, alcohol is rarely just about alcohol. It's often tied to something much deeper: the subtle ways we abandon ourselves in order to survive, succeed, fit in, or keep carrying everyone else's emotional weight. In this episode, Amanda breaks down the three core "misalignments" she sees over and over again in women on an alcohol-free journey… and why these patterns don't magically disappear just because you stop drinking. If you've ever felt like: You use alcohol to feel more relaxed, social, or "normal" You carry everyone else's emotions and struggle to shut it off You're wildly capable… but secretly disconnected from your authentic desires You've sensed that alcohol is masking something deeper Your alcohol-free journey feels harder than you expected …this episode is going to hit home. In this episode: What Amanda experienced during a 3:00 AM "download" that changed her plans entirely The deeper meaning behind being a "deep feeler" Why sensitive, intuitive women often develop complicated relationships with alcohol The 3 hidden misalignments beneath social drinking, stress drinking, and emotional drinking Why alcohol-free living feels difficult when the real issue hasn't been identified How authenticity, emotional depth, and buried dreams become disconnected through alcohol Why naming the real problem can radically shift your healing journey Amanda also shares details about her brand-new live workshop: The Deep Feelers Diagnostic A 75–90 minute live experience designed to help you identify the real misalignment keeping you stuck in your alcohol-free journey. 🗓 May 27th at Noon Eastern 🎟 Replay available 💫 Investment: $55.55 Register now: amandakuda.com/dfd If this episode resonated with you, send it to another deep feeler in your life… and don't forget to subscribe, rate, and review the podcast.
