Description
Since Aug 2022, I've talked about evolving faith journeys. In late 2024 I realized I tired of the heaviness of this focus & so evolved into Living Beyond the Shadow of Doubt™. With the same vulnerability and unapologetic authenticity, I focus on the joy in this journey, the life & living that comes on the other side of maybe, on the other side of what's possible. We celebrate claiming spiritual sovereignty, becoming captain of your own vessel, releasing what no longer aligns for you in connecting with your higher power and honor expanding your energy field to make room for all things new.

Episode 231: I Didn't Learn About God Through a Priest; it was Direct Communication with Nataliya Preiss
2025/12/17
Nataliya Preiss is part executive mentor, part feminine alchemist, part frequency calibrator, and part soul-vision architect for women who are done hiding their brilliance under obligation, roles, or inherited narratives. She supports women in releasing the identities they outgrew — the pleaser, the performer, the caretaker, the dutiful daughter — and stepping fully into the woman they were always meant to be:sovereign, expressed, magnetic, and deeply in love with her own life.
Nataliya is currently writing her next body of work — a trilogy of books ("Her Heart,""Her Voice," and “Graceful Power”) that brings the feminine back into leadership, creation, and prosperity.
If today’s conversation touched something tender within you, if you felt God whisper through this conversation… that was your heart remembering.
Nataliya is opening her newest program, Her Heart, for women who are ready to live from truth again — not fear, not self-betrayal, not survival. It’s where the heart learns it’s safe to stay open… even after it’s been broken. For women who are ready to feel again — to receive again — to love again.

Episode 227: I cherish mystery now with Venice Jardine, M.A.
2025/11/12
Venice Jardine, M.S. is an ethnographic researcher and the author of master's theses "I'll Stay Where You Want Me To Stay: How Latter-Day Saints Navigate Conflicting Social Values While Remaining Committed to Their Faith." (Source: https://scholarsarchive.byu.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=11355&context=etd)
From her abstract:
While recent efforts in religious studies have focused on why many Americans seem to be leaving religion entirely, much less is understood about why many others choose to remain committed to their faith--especially when they hold many of the same social values, doubts, or divergent opinions that others cite for leaving. Within a Latter-day Saint context especially, very little research has been done to explore the experiences of those navigating the complexities of competing ethical affordances while remaining committed to their faith.
(Source: https://scholarsarchive.byu.edu/etd/10346/)
I hope you enjoy listening to Venice share about her research and especially her viewpoint on 'The 3 Ethics: Autonomy, Community & Divinity' in episode #227 as much as I enjoyed interviewing and learning about it from her.

Episode 220: The Power of Connection in Suicide Prevention
2025/09/24
NOTE: This episode contains discussion and themes of suicide and suicide prevention.
Within weeks I will publish my first book, TransparentSEE: How I learned to SEE through my journey as a parent of a transgender kiddo . I share a few excerpts with you today as a means of connection and sharing of my story of moving through all of the discomfort that comes with being raw, open and vulnerable.
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention states, “There’s no single cause for suicide. Suicide most often occurs when stressors and health issues converge to create an experience of hopelessness and despair.”
Efforts that counter loneliness and isolation all point to human connection. I believe connection is a vital component of suicide prevention, long before a person exhibits warning signs. I am in no way suggesting this as a quick fix or a replacement for adequate mental health care and being proactive about getting it.
Showing up vulnerably is the only way to “true connection.” Shooting the breeze about what you had for lunch, how was work/school, or did you see the latest movie aren’t going to cut it. Heartfelt, raw and authentic sharing followed by open ended, thoughtful questions is a pathway to true connection. Note that the pathway I am describing is indefinite, different for everyone and subject to your intuition of what is best for you in your situation.
As you listen to an excerpt of my story, may your heart be touched and opened to the idea of sharing yours with your loved ones.

Episode 217: What to do with old pain
2025/09/03
Whether it's physical pain or emotional pain, healing from our wounds is not a one and done thing. The same is also true for pain from mental and spiritual wounds.
We can do all the work that we think is needed and arrive at a place of feeling healed and even function better for a while. Then something happens -- an event, circumstance, a person, or a situation -- can activate it and we begin to feel that same old familiar pain yet again.
It's normal and natural to want to resist it. Perhaps we think it's behind us and we've grown beyond or past it.
It's up to us what we make of it we can make it mean a lot of things-- that we did something wrong or we didn't do enough the first time around OR we can also make it mean that this is just a natural course of healing.
We heal in community; listen to this episode to learn what to do with old pain.
