Living Outloud: Does Jesus change his mind? (Mark 7)
2026/10/02
Send us a message!
We wrestle with Mark 7:24–30 and why Jesus’ words to the Syrophoenician woman can feel jarring at first read. We challenge a modern “Jesus was racist” interpretation, then pull out what the passage actually teaches about God’s unchanging character and persistent prayer.
• reading the Mark 7 encounter and naming what feels uncomfortable
• rejecting modern cultural projection that reframes Jesus as morally flawed
• why “changing His mind” does not mean God repents
• biblical examples where God responds to intercession and repentance
• holding justice and mercy together without contradiction
• three qualities that move the conversation forward: humility, persistence, trust in God’s goodness
• how this story should reshape the way we pray and keep praying

Mark 10: Jesus' ministry in one chapter
2026/10/01
Send us a message!
We address Jesus’ “salted with fire” teaching by connecting salt to purity and fire to trials that refine the heart. Then we read Mark 10 and sit with the parts of Jesus that comfort us and the parts that confront us.
• salt, sacrifice, and inner purity tied to Leviticus 2:13 and Mark 9
• divorce, hard hearts, and God’s design for marriage
• welcoming children and receiving the kingdom with trust
• the rich man’s sorrow and the cost of letting go
• “with humans it is impossible” and why God can save
• leaving everything to follow Jesus and the promise of reward with persecutions
• Jesus predicting his suffering, death, and resurrection
• servant leadership and greatness defined by service
• Bartimaeus’ bold faith and Jesus’ question “What do you want me to do for you?”

Mark 7-8: When we try to soften Jesus' words
2026/09/29
Send us a message!
We read Mark 7–8 and watch Jesus confront religious hypocrisy, redefine what makes a person unclean, and keep showing mercy to people on the margins. We also wrestle with His warning about being ashamed of His words and why our lives need to match the Bible we say we believe.
• Pharisees and law experts challenging unwashed hands and ritual tradition
• Jesus quoting Isaiah and exposing hearts far from God
• Redefining defilement as what comes out of the heart
• A Syrophoenician mother pushing forward with persistent faith
• Healing a deaf man and the unstoppable spread of the news
• Feeding four thousand and the disciples missing the point
• Pharisees demanding a sign and Jesus refusing to perform
• Warning about the yeast of the Pharisees and Herod
• Healing a blind man in stages and what it says about perception
• Peter confessing Jesus as the Christ and the shock of the suffering Messiah
• Denying self, taking up the cross, and Mark 8:38 as a sober warning
• Refusing to apologize for Scripture and choosing integrity instead

Mark 6: Don't forget about the bread!
2026/09/28
Send us a message!
We read through Mark 6 and watch how quickly people swing from amazement to offense when Jesus feels too familiar. We also wrestle with the link Mark makes between the feeding of the 5,000, the storm at sea, and how a hardened heart can make us miss what God is doing.
• Jesus rejected at home because people can’t see past familiarity
• The twelve sent out with almost nothing to learn dependence
• Herod’s fear and the rumors about Jesus’ identity
• John the Baptist’s death and the cost of speaking truth
• Jesus choosing compassion when rest feels urgent
• The feeding of the 5,000 as need met with abundance
• Walking on water and the disciples’ fear in the wind
• “Didn’t understand about the loaves” as a clue for our storms
• Letting yesterday’s provision strengthen today’s faith

Living Outloud: Do you have ears to hear? (Mark 4)
2026/09/25
Send us a message!
We wrestle with Mark 4:21-25 and why Jesus’ “lamp on a stand” isn’t a throwaway line from a kids song. We connect the lamp, the soils, and “the measure you use” to real spiritual growth, discernment, and what we choose to listen to every day.
• why Jesus uses parables to draw in listeners who lean closer
• how the parable of the soils frames what it means to “hear”
• what the lamp likely points to in Mark 4: God’s Word revealed
• why private faith can become a covered lamp
• how “take care what you hear” applies to teaching, podcasts, and social media
• what “the measure you use” looks like in daily Bible habits
• a testimony about listening to Scripture and changed desires at home

Mark 5: New mind, new covering, new mission
2026/09/24
Send us a message!
We read through Mark 5 and watch Jesus cross into a place everyone avoids, free a man trapped by torment, and then restore two desperate families in the middle of a pressing crowd. We slow down to notice the turning point, a wounded man runs to Jesus, and we ask what it looks like to use whatever shred of faith we have left.
• Mark’s fast-paced storytelling and why Jesus crosses the lake on purpose
• The Gerasene demoniac and the moment he runs toward Jesus
• Legion, the pigs, and a town that fears change
• The healed man clothed, restored, and sent to tell his people
• Jairus’s daughter and Jesus’ words “Don’t be afraid, just believe”
• The woman with chronic bleeding and faith that reaches for Jesus
• Interruptions as opportunities for ministry and patience

Mark 4: You heard the Word... now what?
2026/09/23
Send us a message!
We slow down in Mark 4 and listen for what Jesus is really doing when he teaches in parables and confronts a mixed crowd. We read the sower, the lamp, the growing seed, the mustard seed, and the storm, then ask God to show us what kind of soil our hearts have become.
• Mark as a fast-paced Gospel and why we take it slowly
• Crowds of marginalized people and religious scrutiny around Jesus
• Parables as a way to reveal and filter motives
• The Parable of the Sower and what each soil reveals
• Worldly cares, wealth, and shallow roots as real spiritual threats

• The kingdom of God growing quietly over time
• Mustard seed hope for small beginnings
• Jesus calming the storm and the question of his authority
• Choosing to lean in when Scripture confuses us
• Asking God for wisdom and letting the word cultivate our hearts

Mark 2-3: You can't follow what you don't believe
2026/09/22
Send us a message!
We read Mark 2–3 and watch Jesus forgive sins, heal bodies, and challenge religious systems that prize control over compassion. I slow down on the “unforgivable sin” passage and explain why its context is meant to warn against hardened resistance, not trap tender consciences in fear.
• Mark as a fast-paced overview of Jesus’ life and ministry
• Friends lowering a paralytic through the roof and Jesus forgiving sins first
• The question of authority and why the healing proves Jesus’ claim
• Jesus calling Levi the tax collector and eating with sinners
• Fasting questions and the meaning of new wine and new wineskins
• Sabbath conflicts, healing the withered hand, and the move toward assassination
• Crowds, unclean spirits, and Jesus appointing the twelve
• Accusations of being possessed and Jesus’ “divided kingdom” warning

Mark 1: Before you DO anything...
2026/09/21
Send us a message!
We start Season 12 by curating a new Bible “shelf” and launching the Gospel According to Peter, beginning with Mark’s fast-moving account shaped by Peter’s stories. We read Mark 1 out loud and slow down to reflect on a God who delights in relationship before we prove anything.
• how we organize Bible reading by genre rather than book order
• why Mark fits the Gospel According to Peter theme
• Mark’s pace and focus on what Jesus does
• John the Baptist, repentance, and preparing the way
• Jesus’ baptism, wilderness testing, and kingdom message
• the call of the first disciples and immediate obedience
• Jesus’ authority in teaching and over unclean spirits
• healing, prayer in solitude, and staying on mission
• the leper’s request, Jesus’ touch, and the spread of the news
• God’s delight coming before ministry performance and what that means for our identity

Living Outloud: Thinking about it (2 Timothy 2)
2026/09/18
Send us a message!
We slow down in 2 Timothy 2:1-7 and do what Paul commands: think it through and ask God for understanding. We wrestle with the soldier, athlete, and farmer pictures until they turn into practical ways to follow Jesus with focus, obedience, and endurance.
• reading the passage out loud and praying for clarity
• suffering as an expected share of faithful discipleship
• spiritual warfare and resistance after obedient ministry
• refusing to get entangled in everyday anxieties
• a five-minute silence test that reveals distractions
• turning distractions into a prayer list to regain focus
• competing according to the rules and submitting to Scripture
• spotting Christian “shortcuts” that bypass self-denial
• the farmer’s reward and learning to enjoy ministry fruit
• giving God first fruits, especially first fruits of time
• seeing Jesus as the true soldier, athlete, and farmer

2 Timothy: Finishing well
2026/09/17
Send us a message!
We read Paul’s final preserved letter and feel the weight of last words as he calls Timothy to courage, endurance, and faithful teaching. We connect Paul’s warnings about self selected teachers and pointless fights to modern social media habits and choose gentleness that aims for rescue, not victory.
• Paul’s last letter as a window into what he values most
• Rekindling God’s gift and rejecting fear for power, love, and self-control
• Sharing in suffering and holding to sound words
• Living with discipline like a soldier, athlete, and farmer
• Avoiding word wrangling and teaching truth accurately
• Becoming a clean vessel ready for good work
• Rejecting foolish controversies and correcting opponents with gentleness
• Recognizing “last days” patterns and resisting curated teaching
• Trusting Scripture as God breathed and practical for daily formation
• Passing on what we are entrusted with to faithful people

Titus: Starting a Christian community
2026/09/16
Send us a message!
We read Paul’s letter to Titus all the way through and track how the gospel creates real change in a tough culture like Crete. We walk away with a simple gut check: sound teaching is not just heard, it is lived with integrity so our lives do not discredit Jesus.
• why Paul leaves Titus in Crete to set things in order
• what to look for when appointing elders and leaders
• the link between sound doctrine and visible behavior
• how grace trains us for self-control and good works
• why integrity makes the gospel message harder to dismiss
• avoiding divisive arguments and focusing on pressing needs

2026/09/15
Send us a message!
We read 1 Timothy 4–6 and track Paul’s blueprint for strong, healthy churches built on truth, integrity, and steady spiritual growth. We end with a direct question about humility and whether we actually submit to spiritual authority the way Timothy did with Paul.

• rejecting myths and training for godliness
• leading by example in speech conduct love faithfulness and purity
• prioritising the public reading of Scripture with exhortation and teaching
• caring for widows with family responsibility and wise boundaries

2026/09/14
Send us a message!
We read 1 Timothy 1 through 3 and watch Paul train Timothy to guard the gospel, resist false teaching, and lead with courage. We also wrestle with what it means for the church to act like a real support beam for biblical truth instead of bending to pressure.
• Paul’s purpose for writing Timothy and why context matters for application today
• A warning against myths, speculation, and empty talk that drifts from love, faith, and a good conscience
• Paul’s testimony of mercy and the core gospel claim that Jesus saves sinners
