Description

Join author, actor, and funny lady Robin Hopkins as she helps guests manage stress, set some boundaries, find a new apartment, and save a dime or two. And that’s important because social security is probably gonna be gone by the time you get there. Robin’s disarming, connected, and forthcoming style allows her guests to open up about what’s really behind all that self-sabotaging. Well…Adjusting is not NPR. It’s not credentialed. But it is honest talk about real problems Millennials face today. And did we mention it’s funny?

Can I Quit Yet?
2026/10/13
Rebekah thought she'd be somewhere else by now. After a layoff, she found herself in a job that doesn't pay enough, isn't fulfilling, and definitely wasn't part of the plan. We talk about surviving the in-between, getting honest about money, and making a plan to build a career that actually works for your life. If you'd like to be on Well...Adjusting send us an email at [email protected]  You can find a copy of "The Great You Plan" here, a starter version of the "Financial Notes Doc" here and an excel version (for spreadsheet pros) here.  Closed captions for this podcast can be found on YouTube. What If It All Works Out?
2026/10/06
Well…Adjusting and iHeart's podcast, Grown-Up Stuff are joining forces to answer an important question: Why is it so much easier to give advice than actually take it? Robin, Steph, Lea, and Matt gave themselves two weeks to tackle something they’ve been avoiding, then came back with the receipts. We’re talking wins, spectacular failures, accountability, and what actually helps when you know exactly what you should do... and still really don’t wanna do it. Everybody Needs a Nap
2026/09/29
Burnout isn't just being tired. Samantha Edu joins us to talk about how to recognize it, why so many of us end up there, and the beliefs we've inherited about productivity, guilt, and always doing more. Plus, she leaves us with one simple practice to help you feel a little calmer, a little braver, and a little more hopeful. 2026/09/22
Bestselling author Oliver Burkeman (Four Thousand Weeks) joins us to tackle one of life's biggest truths: you can't do everything... and that's actually great news. We talk about letting go of perfection, embracing our finite lives, and why accepting our limits might be the key to a happier one. Live, Laugh, Lower Your Expectations
2026/09/15
Robin's wife, Mary, is back! Last time we discovered she's... not exactly an optimist. So we're checking in to see if anything's changed. We talk about existential dread, Steph's big move back to Canada, and whether choosing joy is a mindset... or just caring a little less. How Is She This Hopeful?
2026/09/08
When Emily's father was diagnosed with a terminal illness, her life changed overnight. Instead of giving up, she became his caregiver and started a foundation supporting kids with cancer. We talk about choosing hope, finding purpose in impossible moments, and why optimism isn't about ignoring reality. It's about deciding how to meet it. Find For Love & Buttercup here. My Dad Is Dying… and We’re Still Arguing
2026/07/21
Leah joins us to talk about anticipatory grief, complicated parent relationships, and what happens when you know a major loss is coming but life keeps moving anyway. We get into caregiving, avoidance, dark humor, and the very human art of telling everyone you’re “fine” when you absolutely are not. If you want to hear the story of Robin's mom putting the pot roast down the garbage disposal, check out these episodes: Holiday Triggers and Glimmers | Your Worst Holiday Stories We're taking the summer off! We'll return with new episodes on the theme of Optimism in September, but if you need something else to get your weekly fix of advice, queer fun, drunk-best-friend-meets-wise-mom vibes over the summer, here are some listening recs from the Well...Adjusting team! Career Panic, Anyone?
2026/07/14
Layoffs. AI. Hiring freezes. It feels like everyone knows someone who's looking for work. Laura joins us to unpack what it's like trying to build a creative career when the ground keeps shifting beneath your feet, and how to stay hopeful when the future of work feels anything but certain. Can We Hang Without a Hangover?
2026/06/30
For many LGBTQ folks, bars have long been more than bars. They've been community centers, meeting places, and a way to find our people. But what happens when every social plan seems to come with a drink in hand? Aadi joins us to talk about finding the line between social drinking and social habit, creating new ways to connect, and figuring out how to have a great night out without waking up wondering if it was worth it. Make Robin & Steph's mocktails! Steph: 1) Use iced tea, lemon, a herb or spice of your choice (Steph uses Cardamom syrup), muddle them up, delicious! 2) Soak hibiscus leaves, lime or lemon juice, fresh ginger, a little honey, to make a refreshing summery pink drink! Robin: 1) A non-alcoholic tequila is great! 2) Take some lime juice, agave syrup (approx 3 swirls), *important* put them in a cute glass, add fresh mint and muddle. Add a load of ice and fill with seltzer. Garnish with a piece of lime for ultimate aesthetics. When Anxiety Is the Baseline
2026/06/23
Drew and Alex from Into the Into the Mud podcast join to chat about what's making us anxious right now. We talk creative paralysis, career spirals, and the pressure to be perfect—whether it’s as a parent, an artist, or just a functioning human. Is anxiety something to fix, or something to live with? How do you know when it’s too much? And what, if anything, actually helps? Real talk, some swearing, a little hope. And maybe, a reminder that you’re not the only one spiraling. Is It Safe to Be Myself at Work
2026/06/15
Teeny brings us a question about how open to be about your personal life. She’s in a polyamorous relationship and wants to share her weekend stories at work just like anyone else, without judgment, microaggressions, or having to launch into Polyamory 101 every time. We talk trust, boundaries, and the subtle (and not-so-subtle) ways people shame what they don’t understand. Plus: how to decide who deserves the truth—and who can keep guessing. Dr. Badiee joins us to offer thoughtful, grounded guidance on how to navigate this tricky space with clarity and self-respect. More info on Dr. Badiee HERE. I Just Want to Feel Pretty
2026/06/09
Comedian Julia Scotti joins us to talk about dating as an older trans woman, putting yourself out there, and the very human desire to feel wanted, beautiful, and seen. What starts as a conversation about dating becomes something bigger about identity, confidence, aging, and learning to let yourself hope for connection. 2026/06/02

We talk about healing, accountability, queer identity, and the complicated process of learning to show yourself a little compassion along the way. Wait… Should We Move to France?
2026/05/19
Jobs are weird. Burnout is real. Politics are a dumpster fire. And suddenly a lot of us are asking the same question: what if life is actually better somewhere else? Carolyn Cohagan joins us to talk about leaving the US, retiring in France, and the very relatable fantasy of starting over somewhere with better bread and healthcare.
