2026/10/06
Send us Fan Mail
She climbed into her daughter’s hospital bed, wrapped her arm around her, and held on. Then came the hug she would remember forever.
In this episode of Indelibly Marked, a mother shares her daughter E’Niyah years-long battle with childhood cancer—from chemotherapy and trips to St. Jude to losing an eye, hearing that the cancer had spread, and facing their final moments together.
She was pregnant when she lost E’Niyah. While grieving one daughter, she had to find the strength to welcome another.
Years later, she faced another devastating loss: Gia, her best friend of 26 years, who had helped her raise her children. She remembers their friendship, the plane crash that took Gia’s parents, and what it feels like to lose the person who knew you best.
We also talk about her father’s death, the anger she carried through grief, therapy, and the faith she continues to hold onto through unanswered questions.
For anyone missing a child, a parent, or a best friend, this is an honest conversation about living with loss—and finding a reason to keep going.

Send us Fan Mail
Out of the Vault
Fire Captain. Minister. Father. First responder.
Steven D. Graves III has spent years answering calls most people could never forget—but one involving a 6-month-old baby challenged his faith in a way he still carries with him.
In this episode of Indelibly Marked, Steven opens up about working CPR while he and his crew cried out to God for a heartbeat, only to face an outcome they desperately prayed against.
But this conversation goes much deeper.
Steven talks about growing up in Kansas City, being known as the “churchy” kid, finding his calling as a firefighter, seeing death and tragedy repeatedly on the job, ministering to young people in crisis, dealing with grief, depression, marriage struggles and the emotional weight of always being the person everybody else depends on.
He also explains why he believes faith and therapy can coexist, and why learning to disconnect became necessary for his own survival.
From the fireground to the pulpit, this is a conversation about purpose, trauma, grief, faith, mental health and staying grounded when life gets dark.

Former Chicago Prosecutor Exposes Corruption, Gang Hits & the Justice System & Shares True Crime Stories
2026/08/25
Send us Fan Mail
Former Chicago prosecutor Gregg Owen sits down with Indelibly Marked for an unforgettable conversation about murder trials, organized crime, Chicago gangs, courtroom corruption and the price of standing against powerful people.
Gregg reveals how he went from touring as a musician to becoming a prosecutor responsible for some of Chicago’s most serious homicide and gang cases. He recalls being offered $50,000 to soften a closing argument, receiving multiple alleged contracts on his life and learning that one threat reportedly included his wife and baby.
The conversation explores Gregg’s experiences involving Chicago’s criminal underworld, the Royal Family, organized crime, Larry Hoover, Cabrini-Green, Robert Taylor Homes, John Wayne Gacy, witness protection, corrupt judges and the emotional impact of spending years prosecuting murder cases.
Then Akasha Williams joins the conversation.
After entering the justice system as a teenager and spending more than 20 years incarcerated, Akasha transformed his life through writing, entrepreneurship and filmmaking. Now, a former prosecutor and a former gang member sit face-to-face to discuss the justice system from opposite sides.
They confront difficult questions about crime, punishment, wrongful convictions, policing, gang culture, rehabilitation, redemption and whether people deserve another chance.
Gregg also reflects on witnessing an execution firsthand and explains why the experience completely changed his views on the death penalty.
A prosecutor and a gangster. Two completely different paths. One powerful conversation about justice, corruption, accountability and transformation.
“Obstacles don’t mean defeat.”

A Murderer Took My Innocence | Sue Allen

Send us Fan Mail
Her childhood was shaped by instability, rejection, family trauma and experiences that forced her to grow up far too soon. As a young girl, she endured abandonment, homelessness and painful struggles with colorism and self-worth.
As a teenager, another traumatic experience changed the course of her life and led her into motherhood at an incredibly young age. Rather than allowing what happened to define her future, she says becoming a mother gave her a reason to keep moving forward.
Her journey would continue through family rejection, dangerous situations, young motherhood and learning how to survive without the protection she desperately needed. Eventually, therapy, motherhood and self-discovery helped her begin rebuilding the way she saw herself.
In this powerful episode of Indelibly Marked, she shares a story of survival, resilience, motherhood, healing and breaking generational cycles.

Fire Fighting : Captain Ralph on Trauma, Faith and Becoming a New Man
2026/07/31
Send us Fan Mail
Before becoming a Kansas City fire captain, Ralph was struggling financially, working odd jobs and facing a pending felony connected to his former street life.
After joining the Kansas City Fire Department in 2012, Ralph entered a world built around discipline, sacrifice, brotherhood and service. He began his career earning approximately $13 an hour while responding to fires, shootings, overdoses, fatal crashes and other emergencies across Kansas City.
In this deeply personal conversation, Ralph describes discovering a body inside a burning home after believing the building had already been searched. He also recalls helping rescue a young boy from an apartment fire moments before the building began collapsing. Although the crew got the child outside, he later died from smoke inhalation.
Ralph explains how firefighters process death, why humor is often used to hide difficult emotions and why mental-health resources are essential for first responders.
He also steps outside his role as a fire captain and examines his own life. Ralph speaks honestly about suicidal thoughts, alcohol, infidelity, divorce, his need for validation and the decisions that hurt people who loved him.
Now, Ralph says God is creating “the new Ralph.”
He discusses fatherhood, mentorship, accountability, protecting his children’s minds and his desire to leave a legacy by becoming a fire chief. His testimony reminds us that the person rescuing everyone else may also be fighting to rescue himself.
This episode explores:

The brotherhood inside the firehouse
Life as a Kansas City firefighter

From Rage to Redemption: Forgiving the Woman Who Killed My Son | Matthew Hill
2026/07/31
Send us Fan Mail
Born and raised around Kansas City’s 12th Street, Matt grew up surrounded by two completely different influences. His mother taught him how to survive the streets, while his father introduced him to church, discipline, hard work and life outside the neighborhood.
The streets eventually pulled Matt into fighting, hustling, shootouts and relationships that repeatedly placed his life in danger. However, the most devastating moment of his life came when his son, Lil Matt, was shot and killed.
Consumed by grief and rage, Matt believed revenge would eventually send him to prison. To remain present for his other children and continue fulfilling his purpose, he made the painful decision to forgive the woman responsible for his son’s death.
Matt also discusses becoming a father at 13, discovering another son 15 years after his birth, surviving betrayal, losing close friends, repairing his relationship with his father and transforming himself into an entrepreneur, mentor and community leader.
Today, Matt works in financial services, owns AJ’s Bar & Grill in downtown Kansas City and helps others recognize that success often begins with a change in mindset.
This is a testimony about grief, fatherhood, forgiveness, faith, personal responsibility and allowing God to fight the battles that anger cannot win.
“Forgiveness is not for them. It is for you.”
May his wounds become beautiful scars. We pray you’ve been Indelibly Marked.
Content notice: This episode discusses gun violence, domestic violence, drug activity, grief and the death of a child.
