Unity Isn’t Optional. We Just Treat It That Way. | Psalm 133
2026/10/27
You'll pray when you need to. You'll read your Bible. But being with God's people? That's "if I feel like it." Psalm 133 is three verses most of us skip. Pastor Johnny and Pastor Tim Grandstaff slow it down and find out why God never treated unity as optional — and why we do. We get into what the Deathbed Doctor learned about what people want at the end, why no tribe of Israel got to stay home, the difference between solitude and isolation, the ball field vs. the body of Christ, Moses pouring oil on the brother who embarrassed him, and why church hurt is real but isn't an exit from the body of Christ. New Tires Won’t Fix Your Alignment | Psalm 128
2026/10/20
You keep praying for a better marriage, better kids, better finances, and nothing changes. Maybe the problem isn't the tires. It's the alignment. In Episode 42, Pastor Johnny and Pastor Chad Harper go deeper into Psalm 128 and Sunday's message on reverence. Six verses, one big question: are you asking God to bless a road He never told you to take? " God is not obligated to bless a path that you chose without Him." In this episode: We want God's protection without His direction, and His blessing without His leadership What a healthy fear of the Lord looks like (and what it doesn't) Why new tires won't fix bad alignment: start with reverence, not behavior "Life out of balance is like a wheel out of balance. It'll pull you out of alignment." Fear God and get to work, whatever your work is Thermostat or thermometer: you set the culture of your home whether you mean to or not A blessing that doesn't stop with you, but flows through you to the next generation This week's challenge: Write down one thing God's asked you to do that you keep delaying, pray for one coworker by name, audit the atmosphere in your home, and bless someone younger than you. You Can Finish the Building and Miss the Point | Psalm 127
2026/10/13
Every Orlando driver knows the I-4 Eyesore: finished on the outside, empty on the inside. Could your life be built the same way? In Episode 41, Pastor Johnny and Pastor Tim Grandstaff walk through Psalm 127 and wrestle with a hard question: could we spend our whole lives building something God never asked us to build? They unpack why a good desire isn’t always your assignment, what “unless the Lord builds the house” really covers, and why grinding harder in the wrong direction only gets you lost faster. Tim gets honest about months of prayer that only brought closed doors, and why he now sees them as protection. Plus: leading a church 16 years without a building, setting the sail instead of grabbing the oars, and why arrows are meant to be released. This week’s challenge: Name your top 3 building projects. Desire or assignment?Count the cost of one, and run it by someone you trust.Aim one arrow. Call a kid, a student, or someone you’re mentoring this week.Psalm 127 · Season 4, Episode 41 📥 Study & Discussion Guide available below ⬇️ Download Here 📧 Email us questions [email protected] 🎥 Sunday's message: genesischurchorlando.com/sermons 📱 Live Mondays ~10:30 AM on Instagram & X — TikTok coming soon @postsunday.podcast
NOT BURIED. PLANTED | Psalm 126
2026/10/06
You prayed. You waited... Nothing changed! What if you're not buried — what if you're planted? Pastor Johnny and Pastor Chad Harper walk through Psalm 126, a song from people who'd been brought home from exile and still needed God to restore them again. Chad unpacks his three ways to find joy in the middle of pain — remember His faithfulness, request His restoration, rely on His promise — and gets honest about a year of losing people he loves. They talk about why dry doesn't mean dead, why God can restore your joy without bringing someone back, why the clear-cup seed experiment takes no faith, and what a Sasquatch argument on a canoe teaches about believing before you see. "The presence of tears does not mean the absence of God." Are You a Christian… or a REAL Christian? | Psalm 12
2026/09/29
A 13-year-old kid in the neighborhood looked at PJ's son, saw the cross around his neck, and asked, "Are you a Christian… or a real Christian?" That question sums up Psalm 12. Pastor Tim is in the captain's chair this week with Pastor PJ, a licensed counselor who has served Orlando's homeless community for more than 15 years. They walk through a psalm where David cries out, "The godly are gone, the faithful have vanished." The hard part is who he's talking about. It isn't unbelievers. It's God's own people, saying the right things with one heart and living a different life with the other. In this episode: What the Hebrew "heart and a heart" really means, and why most of us are living with two"Only a kicked dog howls": why getting defensive about Scripture is a signal worth paying attention toSinging the right songs on Sunday, then vanishing during the weekHoly vs. common: you can't be sought after if you're not set apartWhen God stands up: the courtroom picture in verse 5 and why the poor suffer firstGrace is extended in repentance, not rebellionCan Christians cuss? "Where Are You, God?" Is Faith. "Are You Even Here?" Is Not. | Psalm 95
2026/09/22
There's a difference between "God, where are you?" and "God, are you even here?" David prayed the first one all through the Psalms. Israel said the second one two chapters after walking through the Red Sea, and it became a warning for every generation after them. This week Pastor Johnny and Pastor Tim Grandstaff walk through Psalm 95 and its backstory in Exodus 17, where Israel had seen the plagues, the Red Sea, and manna from heaven and still asked, "Is the Lord among us or not?" We talk about the three layers of biblical thanksgiving (gratitude, acknowledgement, and confession), why thanksgiving in Scripture was costly, public, and honest, why "hear His voice" means obey, and how you can sing loud on Sunday and live with a hard heart on Monday. Tim closes with five steps of real repentance, teshuvah, "to return," and the one question he's taking out of his prayers for good. If you've ever told God, "If You just do this one more thing, then I'll trust You," this episode is for you. The Doorkeeper: Their Father Was Swallowed by the Earth | Psalm 84
2026/09/15
His father led a rebellion against Moses. The ground opened and swallowed it whole. Then Numbers 26:11 says something strange: "But the sons of Korah did not die." Those survivors became the men who guarded the temple doors — and they wrote Psalm 84. So when they say "I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God," they're not writing poetry. They're a generation deciding not to repeat their father's mistake. Pastor Johnny and Pastor Tim Grandstaff walk through Psalm 84 verse by verse: why "doorkeeper" undersells what the Hebrew actually says, how the Valley of Baca connects back to Psalm 23's "through," what "from strength to strength" meant on the pilgrim road to Zion, and why margin — not more activity — is what makes this psalm livable. God only asked for Six. Not Seven. | Psalm 92
2026/09/10
You're not tired. Your tank is empty — and those are two different problems. A nap won't fix it. Labor Day didn't fix it. You still had to buy the food, grill it, and clean it all up. Pastor Tim Grandstaff and Johnny sit in Psalm 92 — the only psalm out of 150 with a note at the top saying it's for the Sabbath — and get uncomfortably practical about rest. Tim's line the episode hangs on: Sabbath is trusting that God can do in six days what you think you need seven days to produce. If you're convinced you need all seven, your calendar already told on you. They get into what most people skip: saying no to your kid's travel team, the family that covenanted to one sport per child, why "I don't have time" doesn't hold up, the water cooler that runs dry, and why Moses likely walked past that burning bush for 40 years before he stopped long enough to look. Plus a template you can use this week — declare your season, declare the Shepherd you need, declare His goodness, declare your praise. It might be good. But it's not best. You Can Outrun the Goodness of God | Psalm 23:6
2026/09/01
You Can Outrun the Goodness of God | Psalm 23:6 You've been praying. You've been showing up. And somewhere in the back of your head there's a sentence you don't say out loud: I haven't felt God's goodness in a long time. Most of us assume that means He stopped. Psalm 23:6 says something harder — and stranger. "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me" is the polite translation. The Hebrew is a hunting word: pursue, chase, hunt down. David wrote it as a man who spent most of his life being chased for real — by Saul, by foreign armies, eventually by his own son. So if it's chasing you, why hasn't it caught you? In the finale of our four-week walk through Psalm 23, Pastor Johnny and Pastor Tim Grandstaff sit in one verse and land on the uncomfortable answer: you can outrun it. Not because God is slow — because we've built lives too busy to be caught, and faith too departmentalized to be led. In this episode: — Why "surely" is a verdict, not a hope — Tov — the goodness chasing you is the same word God spoke over creation in Genesis 1 — "Follow" is a mistranslation. It means hunted — Luke 15 and the rich young ruler: He left the 99 to find the one — and He let another man walk away — "God is good on Sunday, but He's not with me on Monday" — the faith problem we create ourselves — Chris the sheep: 90 pounds of wool, and how nobody drifts overnight — The three positions of the shepherd — front, middle, behind — and where all three show up in the psalm — "I shall dwell in the house of the LORD" isn't about a building. It's about presence — John 10: the sheep don't move for strangers. They only move for the voice they know This week's challenge: read John 10 alongside all of Psalm 23. And slow down enough to get caught. 📥 Study & Discussion Guide available below ⬇️ Download Here 📧 [email protected] 🎥 Sunday's message: genesischurchorlando.com/sermons 📱 Live Mondays ~10:30 AM on Instagram & X — TikTok coming soon @postsunday.podcast
God Doesn't Remove Your Enemies — He Feeds You in Front of Them | Psalm 23:5
2026/08/25
David didn't write "God cleared the room." He wrote that God set a table — and left the enemies sitting right there, watching him eat. Psalm 23:5 is the verse most of us trail off on. We read the first four verses with everything we've got, then mumble the last two like an afterthought. But verse 5 is the outcome. It's where the psalm turns: the Shepherd becomes the host, and the sheep becomes the guest. Pastor Johnny and Pastor Tim Grandstaff spend a full hour inside one verse. In this episode: What "prepare" actually means, and why it proves He got there before you did Why a shepherd climbs to the tabletop weeks before the sheep ever arrive The difference between vengeance and vindication Why the table is still a decision you have to make What really happens when a shepherd pours oil on a sheep's head: the flies, the mites, the scab, and the animal that beats its head against a rock until it dies Why God often doesn't remove the thing He gives you what you need to repel it Pastor Tim on a season when his thoughts were so clouded he was acting out of character, and what changed when he finally obeyed Why the deepest wound usually isn't the wolf in the valley, but the sheep standing right beside you How "my cup overflows" ends up at the Last Supper Week 3 of 4 in Psalm 23. If you haven't heard Episodes 32 and 33, start there this chapter builds. Referenced: A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23 by W. Phillip Keller. The Rod Shows Up in the Valley — Not the Green Pastures
2026/08/18
Everybody quotes Psalm 23. Almost nobody notices where the rod actually shows up — not beside the still waters, not in the green pastures, but in the valley of the shadow. In Episode 33, Pastor Johnny Sierra sits down with Pastor Tim Grandstaff and Pastor PJ to slow down on just two verses, Psalm 23:3-4, and it turns out two verses is more than enough. We get into what "He restores my soul" meant to an actual shepherd (it isn't a nap), what happens to a sheep that flips onto its back and can't get up, and why the thing that kills a sheep is usually the ground it refuses to leave. We handle the word most of us get wrong — "the valley of the shadow of death" carries darkness, not just dying — which takes this psalm off the funeral program and drops it into your Tuesday. Along the way: a real Maasai shepherd's rod in the studio, the Hebrew behind rod and staff (shevet and mish'enet), the moment David stops talking about God and starts talking to Him, and an honest conversation about comfort, fear, and the patterns we refuse to leave. If you've had Psalm 23 memorized since childhood, this is the episode that makes it hit different. 📥 Study & Discussion Guide available below ⬇️ Download Here WANT MORE CONTENT? What the FUD? | Psalm 23:1-2 & the Answer to Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt
2026/08/11
What the FUD? (Fear, uncertainty, and doubt) — mix them together and they produce anxiety. And if we're honest, all of us have asked the question a 4-year-old asked on her first day of preschool: "Am I gonna be okay?" Psalm 23 opens by answering it. This week we launch a 4-week miniseries through the most famous psalm in the Bible. Pastor Johnny Sierra and Pastor Chad Harper unpack verses 1–2: where anxiety really comes from, why Godfidence doesn't require certainty, what it means to be marked by the Shepherd, "I shall not want" as a declaration — not a description — and why sheep only lie down when they trust their shepherd. 📥 Study & Discussion Guide available below ⬇️ Download Here WANT MORE CONTENT? Victory in Real Time (Psalm 20 PT. 2)
2026/08/04
If you received all the desires of your heart right now — would it advance the Kingdom of God, or just your comfort? In Part 2 we finish Psalm 20 and open its twin, Psalm 21 — the prayer before the battle and the praise after the victory. Psalm 20:4 asks, "May he grant you your heart's desire." Psalm 21:2 answers, "You HAVE given him his heart's desire." The request and the answer, side by side. We talk about why that verse is one of the most misquoted in the Bible, why you should thank God for the no's, and how to spot your chariot — anything you're carrying that God was meant to carry. Plus the live comment that stopped the show ("God, the worry is loud today. Can you, through your word, be louder?"), and the rhythm Israel never reversed: pray first, praise after. The arc of every believer's story is right here: prayer, battle, victory, worship. It starts with "answer me in the day of trouble" — and it ends with a choir. 📥 Study & Discussion Guide available below ⬇️ Download Here WANT MORE CONTENT? Trouble in Real Time (Psalm 20, PT.1)
2026/07/28
Trouble doesn't make appointments. It shows up at your door — and until it hits you, it doesn't feel real. This week, it hit us. In Part 1 on Psalm 20, we walk through trouble in real time: why the Hebrew word for trouble means the narrow, squeezed place; why the psalm says God will answer you IN the day of trouble, not keep you out of it; why He's the God of Jacob — the struggler most like us; and what it means to know God sees you when your knees want to buckle. We stop at verse 3, because the psalm stops there too. Selah — pause, breathe it in. The battle continues in Part 2 next week. 📥 Study & Discussion Guide available below ⬇️ Download Here WANT MORE CONTENT? His Fame or Yours? | Psalm 72
2026/07/21
Is AI becoming people's messiah? In this episode, Pastor Johnny Sierra and Pastor Tim Grandstaff unpack Psalm 72 — David's coronation prayer over Solomon that points to a far greater King. They explore what it means to be part of a "God-sized story," why the church can't be replaced by a screen or an algorithm, and the question every believer has to answer: Are you living for God's fame or your own?
