From heartbreaking headlines to viral celebrity drama and an unforgettable story of friendship, this episode covers the conversations everyone will be talking about. The crew reports on the homecoming-weekend block party in Vienna, Georgia, where gunfire killed two men and injured 35 people ranging in age from 14 to 51; investigators said more than 1,000 people were present, no suspect or motive had been announced, and the case remained active. They also unpack Rihanna’s ultra-brief response after EJ Johnson blamed her late arrival for delaying Dior’s Paris Fashion Week show—Rihanna commented “Damn” on a separate video showing Johnson being stopped at a hotel entrance.  The conversation heats up over actor Da’Vinchi’s interview with Cam Newton, where his broad criticism of Americans’ work ethic and remarks about moving beyond slavery drew backlash; the show pushes back by stressing that the legacy of slavery, redlining, and systemic discrimination still shapes Black life today. Da’Vinchi later said his statement was generalized and should have been more specific. The episode closes on an uplifting note as R&B singer Tank recalls losing everything, asking Jamie Foxx for work as a background singer so he could provide for his children, and nearly leaving music before Foxx hired him, opened his home and studio, and encouraged him to keep going. The testimony underscores how timely support, humility, and genuine friendship can help someone rebuild when life falls apart.  Website: https://www.urban1podcasts.com/rickey-smiley-morning-show  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Unconventional family plans, explosive celebrity allegations, and a controversial parole decision fuel a headline-packed episode of The Rickey Smiley Morning Show. The crew debates Insecure actor Kendrick Sampson’s “wide love” philosophy after he said he would rather raise children with a trusted female friend than a romantic partner, believing a friendship-first arrangement could keep the child’s well-being from being disrupted by relationship drama. Gary With the Tea then unpacks the custody battle between Halle Berry and ex-husband Olivier Martinez after a judge granted Martinez a temporary restraining order covering him and their 12-year-old son, limited Berry’s visitation pending a later hearing, and declined to order sobriety monitoring for lack of information; Berry’s attorney called the allegations meritless and deliberately misleading.  The legal headlines continue with Rick Ross, who voluntarily surrendered in Miami Beach and was released on bond after being charged with felony battery by strangulation and misdemeanor battery in connection with an alleged domestic-violence incident; he pleaded not guilty, publicly denied the accusations, and was ordered to stay away from the alleged victim while the case proceeds. The show also reacts to former Dallas police officer Amber Guyger being granted parole after serving seven years of a 10-year murder sentence for killing Botham Jean inside his own apartment—a decision Jean’s family and attorney strongly opposed, with no official release date announced at the time. Dr. Ian Smith adds practical wellness advice with The New Menopause Kitchen, explaining how protein, nutrient-dense foods, strength-building movement, and more than 50 recipes from Rachael Ray can help women manage midlife symptoms, protect muscle and bone health, and challenge viral diet myths.  Website: https://www.urban1podcasts.com/rickey-smiley-morning-show  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
