This week, the CREC Council met in Nashville, TN, and, among other business, passed a Memorial on Nations. There has been a great deal of controversy surrounding this memorial. We were on the ground and witnessed what actually happened and have a few thoughts.

The "affordability crisis" is a major talking point lately. Things have long been getting worse, but furor erupted online over fast food burritos now becoming a luxury good. The issue, of course, is not $20 burritos or even whether it is a wise use of finances to get lunch out regularly. It is instead a question of, why do things cost so much? Why is so much of our income going to daily necessities? Why are things things seemingly so much harder for young people?

Ron and Andrew discuss the various interpretive methods of Revelation, what each of their strengths and weaknesses are, and what the best one is.

In this episode, Ron and I examine the arguments for a late date (AD 90s) for Revelation and articulate why this is built upon weak evidence and also conflicts with the internal evidence of the book.

Apocalyptic talk is all the rage today, even more than it normally is. "Who could be the antichrist?" "Is World War III around the corner?" The mainstream of American Christianity is apocalyptic. That has been true our entire lifetimes. It remains true today, though things seem to be changing. As people question the End Times obsessiveness, and historical alternatives begin to have purchase, the question always comes up, "what about the Book of Revelation? What is that about?" Ron Dodson and I have begun to explore this book and plan to do so over the next several months. In the first episode we start to set the groundwork of what this book is, how biblical exegesis has continued to develop over time, and how in order to approach this book you have to have an extremely well-developed understanding of the entire Bible before you can begin to make sense of anything in it.

Earlier this month CJay wrote a long post on the topic of race, ethnicity, and American identity. Naturally, the kind of people who believe the (now-discredited) SPLC is the fount of all truth immediately objected to it. This is, of course, a difficult topic because of the hysterical religious zealotry surrounding it, but God has called Christians to maturity, especially in difficult topics such as these. How should we think about this stuff in a mature and godly way?
