Building a Business Alongside Your Spouse with Tori Bolt of Bolt Farm Treehouse
2026/10/30
How do you build a nationally recognized business with your spouse without losing your marriage, your faith, or your kids’ childhood?
Tori Bolt of Bolt Farm Treehouse joins Mindi Linscombe to share the real story behind one of the fastest-growing companies in America.
Tori and her husband Seth Bolt, a founding member of NEEDTOBREATHE, started Bolt Farm Treehouse after Seth built a treehouse by hand for their wedding and honeymoon. Today it’s a 55-acre luxury mountaintop resort in Tennessee with 33 villas, all centered on helping couples leave with stronger marriages. But the highlight reel leaves out a lot.
For eight years, Tori and Seth lived in a camper with a $302 mortgage so every dollar could go back into the business. Early in their marriage, they lost their first property near Charleston when the island passed laws that shut them down.
In this episode, Mindi and Tori talk about building a business as a married couple, choosing sacrifice and delayed gratification, why focus beats a long list of ideas, and how they talk business on date night without burning out. Tori also opens up about motherhood, giving herself grace after her second baby, and why she fired herself from three leadership roles to stop being the bottleneck in her own business.
If you’re a Christian working parent trying to build something meaningful without losing what matters most, this conversation will encourage you.

Defining Success for Yourself Before the World Defines It for You with Shay Cochrane
2026/09/04
Shay Cochrane has been an entrepreneur for over twenty years, married to fellow business owner Graham for two decades, and mom to two teenage daughters who are just a few years from leaving the house. In this episode of The Something New Show, Mindi and Shay talk about what it actually looks like to keep building a business, a marriage, and real friendships all in the same season of life.
Shay walks through the jar and stones analogy her family uses to decide what actually gets protected on the calendar, and explains what she calls "value stacking," turning something as ordinary as a Thursday night soccer practice into marriage time, family time, and a workout all at once. She and Mindi talk honestly about the loneliness a lot of entrepreneurs their age feel, why Shay built an entire network just to stay surrounded by women who inspire her, and the parts of motherhood she has fully opted out of, PTA emails included, without an ounce of guilt.
If you've ever felt like you have to choose between growing your business and keeping your closest relationships intact, this conversation is for you.

Clark Beckham Gets Real About American Idol, Faith & Marriage
2026/07/15
Clark Beckham on Faith, Marriage, and Building a Music Career That Doesn't Look Like Everyone Else's
American Idol Season 14 runner-up Clark Beckham joins The Something New Show for a conversation that goes way beyond the music.
Clark opens up about the exact moment he fell in love with music at age three (hint: it involves an oboe solo from The Land Before Time), growing up with a professional musician dad who toured with the Righteous Brothers, Dolly Parton, and Tanya Tucker, and the pivotal decision to skip his first American Idol audition because he felt God tell him not to go.
We dig into what actually separates a successful working musician from a technically gifted one who never breaks through, Clark's take on entrepreneurial mindset, adaptability, and "painting a clear picture of what's inside you" is a must-hear for any creative trying to build a sustainable career.
He also shares how his American Idol run led to a thriving YouTube channel critiquing new Idol contestants each season, why he turned down a Christian-genre-only record deal to make music his way, and what it's really like blending three callings: performing, teaching, and preaching.
The conversation closes with some of the most honest, practical marriage advice you'll hear, including why the first year of marriage being "the hardest" might be a myth, and why calling off an engagement can be one of the bravest, best decisions someone can make.
Whether you're a musician, a creative entrepreneur, someone navigating faith and career, or just looking for real talk on marriage and calling, this episode has something for you.
In this episode:
-The childhood moment that sparked Clark's love of music
-Growing up in a musical family in Nashville
-Why Clark turned down his first American Idol audition
-What actually makes an artist successful (it's not just talent)
-Behind the scenes of American Idol and his run to the finale
-How he built a following reviewing American Idol contestants on
-YouTube
-Balancing performing, teaching, and preaching
-His new worship album and upcoming original music
-Honest advice on marriage, timing, and choosing the right partner

How Your Attachment Style Is Shaping Your Relationships with Mark Cameron, LMFT
2025/12/17
What if the tension in your relationships isn’t actually about the other person — but about patterns you learned long before you realized it?
In this powerful and deeply practical conversation, licensed Marriage & Family Therapist Marc Cameron joins us to unpack attachment styles — how they form in childhood, how they quietly drive conflict in adulthood, and how secure attachment can actually be earned later in life.
From marriage and parenting to leadership, faith, and emotional regulation, this episode connects the dots between why we react the way we do and how to break unhelpful cycles for good.
Mark is a co-host of New Life Live, the largest Christian counseling call-in radio show in the country, and the author of Understanding Your Attachment Style. Whether you’re married, single, dating, leading a team, or raising kids, this episode will help you better understand yourself — and the people you love.
✨ In this episode, we discuss:
What attachment styles are and why everyone has one
The 4 insecure attachment styles (Avoider, Pleaser, Vacillator, Disorganized)
What secure attachment actually looks like
Why triggers are usually about the past — not the present
How attachment styles show up in marriage, parenting, work, and leadership
Why “just communicate better” doesn’t work
How faith intersects with attachment and emotional healing
How to earn secure attachment as an adult
What to look for when choosing a spouse (without over-analyzing everything)
This episode is for anyone who wants healthier relationships, deeper connection, and real tools — not just theory.

2025/05/02
If you've ever wondered how to raise kids who are emotionally strong in today’s noisy, fast-paced world — this episode is a must-listen. 🙌
Mindi Linscombe sits down with the wise and warm Sarah Boyd to unpack what resilience really looks like in children — and how we, as parents, leaders, or educators, can nurture it intentionally. With insight drawn from neuroscience, psychology, and personal parenting experience, Sarah brings truth, grace, and practical tools to the table. 🔑 10 Key Takeaways:
🧠 Kids today are more overstimulated than ever before — and it's affecting their emotional development in profound ways.❤️ Emotional health isn't about avoiding hard feelings — it’s about equipping our kids to handle them well.🎧 Parents must learn to turn down the noise in their own lives to better connect with their children.📚 Resilience is built over time — through small, consistent, and relational experiences.😢 Don’t rush your child out of big feelings. Instead, join them there and help them walk through it.🧩 Highly sensitive children aren’t broken — they’re wired differently, and they need tools tailored to their emotional makeup.✨ Sarah shares the 3 things every emotionally healthy child needs: connection, consistency, and calm.🏡 The emotional climate of your home matters more than how clean it is or how productive you are.🙋♀️ It’s okay to not have all the answers — what matters most is being a safe, present adult in their lives.🌿 Sarah’s simple practices to help parents regulate themselves so they can lead from a grounded place.📚 About Sarah Boyd:
Sarah is a writer, entrepreneur, and expert in child and adolescent development. She’s the founder of Resilient Little Hearts, a global community empowering parents and educators to raise emotionally healthy kids. She's also a wife and proud mom of two. 🧡

Through deep yet accessible insights, she and Mindi explore how to build resilient kids who thrive emotionally, not in spite of today’s world, but equipped for it. Whether you're parenting toddlers or teens, or just care about the next generation, this episode will leave you encouraged and empowered.
