Our guest is the founder and CEO of Iconic Auctioneers - the massive auction at the show, Nick Whale. Nick's Dad was a Car Dealer, so its safe to say cars are in his blood. His Dad imported a Camaro when he was young, and then as a the CEO of a successful chain of car dealerships, would buy a brand new Rolls Royce each year, and did this for many years on the bounce. Send us a text Barney was the first of our live interviews at the 2025 Classic Car Show at the NEC. As Andy's boss, he's known Barney for 18 years, but this is the first time he had interviewed him.  We start things off with a bucket and a gritty sponge, with him helping to clean his Dad's yellow Mk1 Escort Mexico. We stay in that car for drives to the South of France, including knocking the exhaust off on the ferry with some frequency.  There was a teacher at Barney's school with an RS500 Cosworth, and a sixth former with a Beetle.  Naturally, as the CEO of Heritage Parts Centre, we spoke about how Barney got into VWs - it was the Bug Jam coverage on TV, which he saw at school that set the spark inside him.  Elsewhere, there's mention of his Nans interest in British sportscars, and how she almost got a Morgan, but by the time her name came up on the waiting list, she was too old to get in and out of it! Send us a text We’re joined by Jez Hayter the founder of Mythron Cars who produce a bespoke,  reinvented modified Austin Healey Sebring Sprite for the modern day. Discussion starts with the charm of playing Action Men and moves into a 50’s Wolsley which belonged to his Grandfather - complete with fold out rear picnic tables.  Later we speak about their family Renault 18 estate, which took the family to Norway for two years, Jez would sit in the middle, something he was particularly proud of.  In Norway they had a neighbour with a classic 3 door Range Rover in powder blue, with a tan interior, with no seat belts to restrict them, they could fit 6 kids in the back!  We wrap things up with some talk about technology and safety improvements.  We hope you enjoy this episode. Send us a text It was a real pleasure to sit down with the legend that is Mike Brewer at the NEC Classic Car Show. We recorded this live, in front of lots of people, so please excuse the blip in sound quality - we've done the best with what we had.  Things start off with a real 'one off' hat flying out the car and back in again earliest car memory, before we hear about the custom cars his Dad built, including the Ford Pop called 'Pinball Wizard' which has been replicated a number of times in tribute.   In later life Mike recounts the tale of sourcing a sensible car for his Dad to drive his Mum around in. He delivers a Ford S-Max, but his Dad isn't impressed.  However, it only takes a few miles and he's smitten, a few months later he's modified it... lowered on split rim wheels, carbon bonnet and mirrors! Send us a text We’re joined by automotive artist Ian Cook this week. Better known as Pop Bang Colour, he produces artwork using model cars instead of brushes, and has created paintings at motoring events for almost 20 years. He even painted a giant Lewis Hamilton for Reebok, earning a Guinness World Record in the process.  In a similar fashion to last episode’s guest, Ian remembers identifying parts of cars from the back seat of his parents Metro, he could even work out a vehicle by its tail lights at night.  They travelled to France in the Metro, but him and his brother had to be in separate cars to stop them fighting!  His Uncle was a Car Designer for Rover, which meant the entire family had one… for cheap! His Uncle had the MG Metro Turbo.  Another Uncle had a Chevette, which Ian now owns. Equally, the recording has continued and there's even been a bit of editing too - Season 7 is in progress!  For now though, allow us to entertain you with details of our recent trip to Goodwood Revival. A great event, with brilliant historic racing. This prompts a discussion on the 100th episode (we're currently on 86) and Andy being the guest on the show... Send us a text We're joined for this episode by guest co-host Paul Harding.  Paul is a previous guest, and was featured on S4 E4.  Today's actual guest is Gary Handa.  He's currently working with Sporting Bears supporting their marketing and media activity.  His parents are both Doctors, and came to this county from India with only a small amount of cash in their pockets. Gary is rightfully very proud of what they made of themselves, and equally, the pride he remembers his father having when he bought his 1976 Mercedes, brand new, outright.  His first memory is a VW 411 Estate, a now very rare aircooled VW with a rear engine and front boot area. They were the Passat of the day.  Gary's Mum had a brown Mercedes estate when he was a teenager, and he used to dress up in his dad's shirt and tie, and take it for a drive whilst his parents were at work. They eventually cottoned on, when the trip odometer wasn't reset to zero after his activities!  We go on to talk about previous cars of Gary's and then whether he'd like to repeat any of his parent's choices... which leads us on to his next purchase - an Audi TT diesel, or a BMW 3 series!  Please give Gary's Instagram a check here. Send us a text Prepare your ears for 10 minutes or so of bonus MDC content based around car parking… After a recent trip to the town centre, Andy’s found the multi-storey carpark now demands you pay in advance rather than upon return to your vehicle. It’s a cash grab, and a pain in the backside!  Jon’s pet parking peeve is people leaving shopping trolleys in the spaces, we discuss whether you should be able to pay for a trolley by card, and even if the cattle grid ‘anti theft’ system used to keep trolleys in their place could be used in schools, perhaps with special shoes like the bowling alley.  Coincidentally, where are all these shoes now?!!  Lastly, we talk about rubbish being thrown from cars, something Jon suggests should be punished by a 3 day stint in the clink.  Hope you enjoy this one, see you next week for a usual ‘full’ episode.  A big thanks to our new podcast sponsor Viking Covers.
