Ghost of Yōtei Exceeded Sales of Ghost of Tsushima Over Similar Time Periods - IGN Daily Fix
2026/02/06
In today's Daily Fix:Sony's Ghost of Yōtei not only reviewed well when it was released in October of last year, but it sold really well, too. According to Sony's latest financial earnings report, Yōtei actually sold more units during its launch than its predecessor, Ghost of Tsushima, did during that game's same launch period in 2020. This is notable since Tsushima was released at the end of the PS4's life cycle, while Yōtei—a PS5 console exclusive—had a much smaller install base to sell to. In other Sony news, a new Horizon game, Horizon Hunters Gathering, was revealed. It's a live-service co-op action game for PS5 and PC. And finally, Xbox gave us a peek into their software plans for 2026, which includes a currently-unannounced game.

Digital-Only GTA 6 Launch "Not The Plan" Says Take-Two CEO - IGN Daily Fix
2026/02/04
In today's Daily Fix:Grand Theft Auto 6 will be released later this year (or so we've been assured by publisher Take-Two), but no actual launch details have been revealed. Many fans want to know if they'll be able to by a physical version of the game at launch, and Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick is now saying that a digital-only launch is 'not the plan.' While not explicitly saying that disc versions will be available, it does leave the door open for interpretation. In other news, Overwatch 2 had a big Spotlight stream where developer Blizzard outlined changes coming to the hero shooter. Most notably, the game will drop the '2' from the title, and be known simply as 'Overwatch.' A new story-focused era is coming, which will last a year, and several new characters have been announced. And finally, a new Nintendo Direct, this one centered on their third-party partners, will be dropping bright and early at 6am Pacific time tomorrow.

Nintendo Stays Silent on Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Sales - IGN Daily Fix
2026/02/03
In today's Daily Fix:Nintendo's latest financial results show a mixed bag of results for the Switch 2. Kirby Air Riders, Donkey Kong Bananza, and Mario Kart World are selling in the millions, but notably missing is Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. The game was not listed in either the Switch or Switch 2 million-seller lists, however it's possible that combined sales across Switch platforms could total one million or more. The game had a rocky development history, being delayed several years and changing dev teams. In other sales news, Obsidian's The Outer Worlds 2 and Avowed did not meet sales expectations, and the company has announced they don't have any plans for The Outer Worlds 3 (but will continue exploring the world of Eora, the setting for Avowed and Pillars of Eternity). And finally, February's Game Pass line up has been revealed, with High on Life landing day one on the service.

Dispatch Dev Says Players "Are Right To Be Pissed" Over Nintendo Censorship - IGN Daily Fix
2026/02/02
In today's Daily Fix:Developer AdHoc Studio has released a statement addressing the censorship controversy surrounding the Switch 2 port of Dispatch. AdHoc is taking responsibility for the uproar, saying that their game failed to meet certain Nintendo guidelines, and that it was their responsibility to better convey the message that the Switch 2 port was altered from the PS5 and Steam versions. AdHoc are working with Nintendo to address the issue, but that it could take weeks before changes are made to the game, if any. In other news, Nioh 3 might be making its way to the Switch 2 and Xbox Series consoles, marking the first time the franchise ended up on a non-Sony console. A new trailer for the game specifies that it's a PS5 console exclusive for six months, however no official word on if other ports are coming. And finally, a video game music remix won a Grammy last night over EGOT-holder Cynthia Erivo. Super Mario Praise Break from The 8-Bit Big Band took home the award for Bestr Arrangement, Instrumental and Vocals. Another gaming win came from composer Austin Wintory, who won for the soundtrack to Sword of the Sea.

Nintendo Responds to Dispatch Censorship Controversy - IGN Daily Fix
2026/01/30
In today's Daily Fix:Nintendo has responded to the censorship controversy surrounding the Switch port of AdHoc's Dispatch. The Switch version has its nudity and sexual content censored, while the PS5 and Steam versions allow you to toggle the censorship. According to Nintendo, while all games on Nintendo platforms need to meet certain guidelines, they don't dictate to the developers how changes need to be made. In other news, Amazon's God of War series has cast Mandy Patinkin as Odin. Patinkin is probably best known as Inigo Montoya from the 80s classic, The Princess Bride, but has also done acclaimed work on shows such as Homeland, and Criminal Minds. And finally, the very long-in-development Beyond Good & Evil 2 is apparently still chugging along at Ubisoft, despite the company's recent layoffs and restructuring.

2026/01/29
In today's Daily Fix:Xbox's hardware revenue fell for a second year straight, as evidenced by Microsoft's latest earnings report. In fact, that last quarter where Xbox hardware saw a positive was October through December of 2023, where hardware was up 3%. Microsoft is still comitted to another hardware cycle, with the next generation promising to be a 'very premium, very high-end curated experience.' In other news, Nintendo's Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream will finally allow your Miis to enter into same-sex relationships, a criticism of the previous 3DS version about ten years ago. And finally, Solid Snake will make his debut in Rainbow Six Siege X as the latest downloadable Operator.

Dispatch's Nudity and Sex Scenes Will Be Censored on Nintendo Switch 2 - IGN Daily Fix
2026/01/28
In today's Daily Fix:Dispatch is finally landing on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, but it's not quite the same version that's available on PS5 and Steam. The game has been censored on Nintendo platforms, with some of the nudity and sexual content altered. While the other versions of the game have a toggle to censor the adult content if the player chooses, the Switch/Switch 2 versions have removed that option. Developer AdHoc Studio has emphasized that the story and overall experience has not changed. In other news, Capcom knows the effect Resident Evil star Leon S. Kennedy has on women, and female staffers at the company made sure his latest appearance would 'make anyone's heart throb.' And finally, February's PlayStation Plus games have been revealed.

2026/01/27
In today's Daily Fix:Highguard debuted on Steam this past weekend to big concurrent numbers, but user reviews are telling a different story. The game currently sits at a 'Mostly Negative' score, with many users complaining about the size of the map (too large), action phases (too little), and visuals (too bland). However, many agree that riding the mounts is actually pretty fun.

Forza Horizon 6's Premium Upgrade is the Price of a New Game - IGN Daily Fix
2026/01/23
In today's Daily Fix:Microsoft finally showed off Forza Horizon 6 gameplay in yesterday's Developer_Direct, and of course the game looks gorgeous. You'll be able to play the game ahead of its official May 15 release date if you jump on the premium upgrade, but it'll cost you the price of a new game. For about $60, you get access to upcoming expansions, car packs, more cosmetics, and early access. If you're a Game Pass subscriber, you're getting the game for free, so that makes the upgrade price a little easier to swallow. In other news, the Fable reboot devs have revealed some of the inspiration for the game: modern British sitcoms. And speaking of sitcoms, Michael Scott and Dwight Schrute from the American version of The Office are coming to Fortnite.

2026/01/16
In today's Daily Fix:After months of rumors, Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy is stepping down. She will return to producing films, which is what she did throughout the 80's and 90's until her appointment as President of Lucasfilm when George Lucas sold the company to Disney. Taking her place is Dave Filoni who is already overseeing several Star Wars projects, and Lynwen Brennan, who has held executive positions at Lucasfilm since 1999. In other news, Julian Gerighty is leaving Ubisoft—where he worked on The Division and Star Wars Outlaws—for a job working on Battlefield for Electronic Arts. And finally, infamously bad DS game Cory in the House is being review bombs—but the opposite way than what we're used to seeing. The positive buzz is a result of an internet joke that's also cause copies of the game to skyrocket on eBay.
