In a surprising Super Bowl anomaly, Marvel Studios is apparently sitting the Big Game out despite having Avengers: Doomsday and Spider-Man: Brand New Day releasing this year, while Sony and Warner Bros seem to be following a similar strategy with their reported absences. Sony Pictures unveiled first-look images of Sam Mendes' ambitious four-film Beatles project through postcards hidden at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, revealing Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr. The unprecedented biographical event will tell the story of the Fab Four from each member's perspective in separate films all releasing in April 2028, with production now underway in London and the cast anticipating 15 months of consecutive shooting across all four movies. Disney's board unanimously voted to name Josh D'Amaro, chairman of Disney Experiences, as the company's next CEO effective March 18. D'Amaro, a 28-year Disney veteran overseeing the company's largest business segment with $36 billion in annual revenue, beat out Disney Entertainment co-chair Dana Walden, who was named to the newly created role of President and Chief Creative Officer reporting directly to D'Amaro. Iger will transition to senior advisor and board member through his retirement on December 31, 2026, having spent the past three years stabilizing the company and grooming successors after his previous handoff imploded. AppleTV has closed a deal to land the rights to the Cosmere books, the fictional literary universe by fantasy author Brandon Sanderson. The first titles being eyed for adaptation are the Mistborn series, for features, and The Stormlight Archive series, for television. Mandy Patinkin has been cast as Odin in Amazon Prime Video's live-action God of War series, joining Ryan Hurst as Kratos, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor, and previously reported Max Parker as Heimdall. The series has also cast Danny Woodburn and Jeff Gulka as the dwarven blacksmith brothers Brok and Sindri, along with Alastair Duncan reprising his role from the games as Mimir. Legendary’s live-action feature adaptation of Gundam looks to have found a home as sources tell Deadline that Netflix is on board to distribute the film. Sydney Sweeney and Noah Centineo are on board to star with Sweet Tooth director Jim Mickle helming. The long-awaited fourth season of Apple TV‘s hit Ted Lasso will make its global debut in summer 2026. Along with the announcement, the streamer released four first-look images from the new season of the Emmy-winning comedy starring and executive produced by Jason Sudeikis. Catherine O’Hara, the beloved, multi-award-winning actor, writer and comedian died last week at her home in Los Angeles following a brief illness. She was 71. Universal announced last week that the next film in the Fast and the Furious franchise is titled Fast Forever and is set for theatrical release March 17, 2028.  Netflix has unveiled the trailer and premiere date of April 23rd for “Stranger Things: Tales From ’85,” the highly anticipated animated spinoff from showrunner Eric Robles and executive producers the Duffer Brothers. A24 released the official trailer for The Drama starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson. Jorge Lendeborg Jr. (“Spider-Man: No Way Home”) has joined Season 3 of the HBO drama, The Last Of Us, taking over the role from Danny Ramirez after he had to be recast due to scheduling issues.

On the day of Wonder Man, Marvel also gifted us with the teaser trailer for Daredevil: Born Again season two, which will begin on March 24. Our full cast of characters returns, with the teaser even showing Foggy Nelson, and debuts Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones in the MCU. The eight episode second season looks promising and we know a third season is already greenlit. Lucasfilm’s first property of 2026 will be the animated series Maul: Shadow Lord. The show’s trailer dropped online last Friday to acclaim from fans of Star Wars animation. The eight episode series will premiere with two episodes on April 6 and release two episodes a week leading up to the finale episodes on May 4th - a significant day for Star Wars fandom. The character of Maul debuted in The Phantom Menace and has a storied reputation through other animated properties such as The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. It’s Mattel’s next outing bringing toys to life on screen as the trailer for Masters of the Universe premiered a few days ago. The popular 1980s franchise is becoming lifelike through performances of Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Jared Leto as Skeletor, and more stars like Idris Elba, Kristen Wiig, and Sasheer Zamata. Christina Hodson has been tapped to write The Brave and the Bold, an upcoming Batman film set in the DCU for DC Studios with Andy Muschietti set to direct. Hodson has several other DC credentials, having worked with Andy Muschietti on The Flash. She also penned the Margot Robbie-led Birds of Prey movie. Her other credits include the 2018 Transformers movie Bumblebee. Max Parker, star of the Netflix series Boots, has joined the cast of Prime Video's God of War adaptation series. Parker will play Heimdall who first appeared in the second God of War game, God of War Ragnarök, as an antagonist. Oscar nominations have been announced and Ryan Coogler's Sinners set a record with 16 total nominations. Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another followed with 13 nominations. Warner Bros. scored 30 nominations in total, tying its record number of nominations set in 2005. Indie distributor Neon and streamer Netflix had 18 noms each, while Focus Features had 13 and A24 had 11. Netflix’s Frankenstein, A24’s Marty Supreme and Neon’s Sentimental Value all garnered nine nominations, while Focus’ Hamnet had eight. All are in the marquee Best Picture race joining Sinners, One Battle, Focus’ Bugonia, Apple’s F1, Neon’s The Secret Agent and Netflix’s Train Dreams. Illumination and Nintendo’s The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will now open on Wednesday, April 1 instead of April 3. Illumination also revealed an extended teaser trailer that features the first look at Yoshi. A massive winter storm impacting much of the U.S. is taking a toll on the domestic box office as numerous communities and cities advised citizens to stay home, and more than 400 hundred theaters closed. Overall revenue is expected to fall to the lowest point of the year to date. The weekend’s winner is new thriller Mercy, starring Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson. On Saturday, MGM Amazon Studios reported an estimated $12.6 million opening before the extent of theater closures was known. Overseas, it started off with a promising $11.6 million. AppleTV has renewed Shrinking for a fourth season ahead of its season 3 premiere this week.

Last week Lucasfilm announced that Kathleen Kennedy is stepping down from her role as studio president, a position she has held since Disney’s 2012 acquisition. Succeeding her are George Lucas’ protégé and Ahsoka creator Dave Filoni, who will oversee the franchise’s creative direction as co-president alongside former Lucasfilm General Manager Lynwen Brennan handling the business side of things. Kennedy still has an active hand as an executive producer of both Star War’s next theatrical offerings: May’s The Mandalorian & Grogu as well as 2027’s Starfighter and will continue to produce other projects independently. Kennedy’s tenure saw its fair share of highs and lows, especially contending with an often fickle fandom, but with multibillion dollar films under her belt her exit marks the end of an era. It was a surprisingly noteworthy MLK weekend box office– outside of Avatar: Fire & Ash’s continuing reign, Marty Supreme became A24's top-performing film of all time with 80 million dollars domestically, surpassing Everything Everywhere All at Once, while Zootopia 2 became the highest-grossing animated film of all time globally with over 1.7 billion dollars, passing Inside Out 2. Meanwhile, Nia DaCosta's 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple opened below expectations with just 15 million dollars over the four-day weekend, falling well short of the 30-million-dollar debut of its predecessor and behind tracking projections of 20 million dollars. Despite the horror sequel’s muted debut, it’s been an unusually robust box office this January. Netflix has revised its $83 billion dollar deal for Warner Bros. Discovery to an all-cash transaction valued at $27.75 dollars per share, simplifying the structure to provide greater certainty of value for shareholders and accelerate the path to a shareholder vote by April. The amended deal, unanimously approved by both boards, maintains the same per-share valuation while WBD stockholders will still receive additional value from shares of Discovery Global following its spinoff, with Netflix financing the deal through cash on hand, credit facilities and committed financing. This update comes on the heels of Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos’ renewed promise to keep WB studio films in theaters for at least 45 days before hitting streaming. Prime Video has released a first look photo of Sophie Turner as Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider series, which has begun production. Hans Zimmer, who has scored more than 500 movies and TV projects, will officially score the upcoming Harry Potter series for HBO Max in partnership with Bleeding Fingers Music, a composer collective that he co-founded. Sons of Anarchy star Ryan Hurst has been cast as main character Kratos in Amazon's upcoming God of War series, which is currently confirmed for two seasons and has begun pre-production. Teresa Palmer was also cast last week and will play Sif, Thor’s wife and the goddess of family. Cate Blanchett has signed a deal to reprise her role as Viking warrior Valka in Universal Pictures’ live-action How to Train Your Dragon 2. Warner Bros. has set Jorge R. Gutiérrez to direct an animated feature centering on the classic Looney Tunes character Speedy Gonzales, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned.

Far from the lush landscapes we’re used to in Wakanda, the scene takes place in a desert and features M’Baku meeting Ben Grimm. The Russo Brothers Instagram account also posted today, clarifying that these are not “teaser trailers” as we’ve been treating them, but rather clues to the story.  Netflix may be lamenting the end of their biggest hit, Stranger Things, but the streaming giant is still looking forward to its 2026 television slate. Netflix standbys The Witcher, Nobody Wants This, Beef, and Bridgerton, are all returning this year as well as many others. The Duffer Brothers may not be writing Stranger Things anymore, but they have three shows premiering instead, The Boroughs, Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen, and the animated Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85.  At the 2026 Golden Globes last weekend hosted by Nikki Glaser, the big winners were: Hamnet for Best Motion Picture – Drama with Jessie Buckley winning Best Actress (Drama), One Battle After Another for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy with Paul Thomas Anderson also winning Best Director (and Best Screenplay) and Teyana Taylor taking Best Supporting Actress. Wagner Moura won Best Actor (Drama) for The Secret Agent, Timothée Chalamet won Best Actor (Musical/Comedy) for Marty Supreme, and Sinners took home the award for Best Cinematic and Box Office Achievement. The Pitt and The Studio won best TV drama and comedy series respectively ,and Adolescence took Best Limited Series. Amy Poehler’s podcast Good Hang with Amy Poehler also won Best Podcast. Disney has cast Australian actress Teagan Croft and Disney Channel star Milo Manheim to star in the live action adaptation of Tangled according to the Hollywood Reporter. Scarlett Johansson who was previously cast as villain Mother Gothel in the film has also exited the project due to scheduling conflicts and has been replaced by Kathryn Hahn. HBO Max has renewed Emmy award winning series The Pitt for season three. Season two debuted its first episode last week. Johnny Knoxville has confirmed that a new Jackass movie will debut in theaters this summer on June 26. AppleTV has released the first trailer for season 2 of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters which begins streaming on Feb. 27th. Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker has confirmed that the anthology series will return for an 8th season at Netflix. A release date for Godzilla: Minus One sequel titled Godzilla: Minus Zero has been set for November 6th in North America, three days after releasing in Japan. Blumhouse has released the first trailer for the  horror reboot of The Mummy from Evil Dead Rises director Lee Cronin. The film will hit theaters on April 17. Amazon has tapped executive producer Anna Ouyang Moench to write and produce season two of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. She has previously been a producer on Netflix’s Beef and AppleTV’s Severance.

Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universes As has become par for the course these last few weeks, Marvel Studios released the third Avengers: Doomsday trailer, which focuses on the X-Men, Tuesday morning after an exclusive week run attached to theatrical showings of Avatar Fire and Ash.  Sebastian Stan is in talks to join The Batman Part II opposite Robert Pattinson and Scarlett Johansson, making him the second Marvel Cinematic Universe alum to jump to Matt Reeves' Gotham. The Oscar-nominated Apprentice star, best known for playing Bucky Barnes aka the Winter Soldier in multiple Marvel films, would join returning cast members Colin Farrell, Jeffrey Wright and Andy Serkis ahead of spring production for an October 2027 release. Avatar: Fire and Ash crossed the 1 billion dollar mark at the global box office after 18 days in theaters, led by 40 million dollars domestically in its third weekend for a total of 306 million dollars and 777.1 million dollars internationally, making it Disney's third billion-dollar release of 2025. Meanwhile, Netflix's Stranger Things series finale generated between 25 to 28 million dollars from a limited two-day theatrical run across 600 theaters on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, with exhibitors selling concession vouchers rather than traditional tickets and keeping all revenue themselves as an olive branch between the streamer and theaters.  Simu Liu has publicly endorsed his Copenhagen Test co-star Melissa Barrera to play Wonder Woman in James Gunn's DC Universe, praising her stunt training as Wonder Woman-esque and calling her a total badass who puts in the work. DC Studios boss James Gunn confirmed in July that Wonder Woman has not been cast yet and won't be discussed until the script is finished, with Supergirl screenwriter Ana Nogueira tapped to write the new Wonder Woman film. Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another dominated the Critics Choice Awards on Sunday night, winning Best Picture, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay, while Timothée Chalamet won Best Actor for Marty Supreme and Jessie Buckley took Best Actress for Hamnet. Ryan Coogler's Sinners and Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein tied for the most wins with four awards each, with Jacob Elordi scoring a surprise Best Supporting Actor victory for his performance as the Creature in Frankenstein. On the television side, The Pitt won Best Drama while The Studio took Best Comedy, with Adolescence earning four awards including Best Limited Series. Horror director James Wan has expressed interest in directing Avatar 4 if James Cameron decides to step back from the franchise, telling Screen Rant he would love to take a crack at the billion-dollar series. Cameron has indicated he may scale back his hands-on involvement with future Avatar films to pursue other projects, potentially delegating more directorial duties to second unit directors or another filmmaker while remaining as producer. Paramount+ has renewed Mayor of Kingstown for a fifth and final season consisting of eight episodes, down from the usual ten episodes per season. The Taylor Sheridan crime drama starring Jeremy Renner and Edie Falco will conclude after its upcoming season, which follows the bloody Season 4 finale that aired in December 2025. Amazon Prime Video has announced the cast for its Tomb Raider series starring Sophie Turner as Lara Croft, with Sigourney Weaver joining as Evelyn Wallis, a mysterious woman seeking to exploit Lara's talents, and Jason Isaacs as Atlas DeMornay, Lara's uncle. The series, created and co-showrun by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, will also feature several characters from the video game franchise including Bill Paterson as butler Winston and Martin Bobb-Semple as tech support Zip.

Where the Captain America trailer played much like a silent film, this one gives us a monologue’s worth of dialogue from Thor as he prays for strength to fight one last enemy. On the Happy, Sad, Confused Podcast this week, Ryan Coogler detailed what Black Panther 2 might have been before the death of Chadwick Boseman. T’Challa and his young son would have fought Namor side by side, with Namor being an “insanely dangerous” version of the character. Coogler reiterated that the film they made meant he “got a chance to make a movie about women…I love that movie so much.” Boseman was too ill to even read the original script that Coogler finished. Though he’s working on resurrecting The X-Files for television, Coogler said of Black Panther 3 that he has “this movie on my heart.”  With a fairly quiet Christmas at the box office, Avatar: Fire and Ash continued to wear the crown, climbing to a global total of $760 million, while A24’s Marty Supreme starring Timothee Chalamet had a studio best opening to $27.1 million. Other films with big names opened including Anaconda featuring Paul Rudd and Jack Black; The Housemaid, starring Amanda Seyfried and Sydney Sweeney; and Song Sung Blue, which was star-studded with Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson. None did as well as Chalamet’s period piece and certainly not James Cameron’s continued epic. Danny Ramirez will not return to HBO's The Last of Us season 3 due to scheduling conflicts. His role will be recast. The highly anticipated Peaky Blinders feature film, now officially titled Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, has been set for theatrical release in select cinemas on March 6, 2026. Netflix also released the first teaser trailer for the film. Apple TV and Legendary Entertainment are expanding the “Monsterverse” universe, announcing a new show starring Wyatt Russell, who will reprise his role as Colonel Lee Shaw in a prequel series. Writer/producer Joby Harold is set to serve as showrunner. Apple TV has released the first trailer for season 3 of Shrinking, which shows the first look at Michael J. Fox, who was added to the cast alongside Jason Segal and Harrison Ford.

Speaking of teases, sources have told The Hollywood Reporter that Marvel plans to show four different Doomsday teaser trailers that will play in front of Avatar: Fire & Ash.  Last week we speculated about what Scarlett Johansson’s role might be in The Batman II…and didn’t have to wait long to find out! Prominent leaker The InSneider reported Johansson will be cast as Gilda Dent, wife of Harvey Dent or Two-Face. It is also reported the studio is looking around to cast Harvey and his father, Christopher Dent, though this is all unconfirmed by DC Studios at this time.  Hunger Games fans, rejoice! Peeta and Katniss return, as Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are confirmed to return to the Hunger Games prequel film, Sunrise on the Reaping. While no details are truly known, with the movie focusing on other characters and a different time period, it looks likely that these two will appear in a flash forward or something of that nature. This second prequel film releases next year on November 20. Rob and Michele Reiner both died this week tragically. Rob Reiner directed countless memorable films such as The Princess Bride, This Is Spinal, and The American President plus so many more. Sony is moving forward with a third installment of the 28 Years Later franchise. Cillian Murphy is in talks to return to star after kicking off the franchise more than 20 years ago with 28 Days Later. Franchise writer Alex Garland is working on the script. Zootopia 2 crossed the $1 billion dollar global box office mark this weekend, the fastest for any PG film in history. Less than two weeks after it was revealed that Paramount had partnered with Blumhouse-Atomic Monster on a reboot of Paranormal Activity, The Hollywood Reporter has learned the project is now landing a director: rising Canadian filmmaker Ian Tuason. Lucas FIlm has announced a handful of upcoming Star Wars projects over the last few days including two video games, one an RPG titled The Fate of the Old Republic, and another a racing game titled Star Wars: Galactic Racer. In addition, a five issue miniseries focusing on Darth Maul will also kick off in March of next year and will serve as a prequel to the upcoming Darth Maul TV series. The issues will be written by Benjamin Percy and feature art by Madibek Musabeckov. The first trailer has been released for Street Fighter, which hits theaters on October 16, 2026. Slow Horses star Zachary Hart and Lola Petticrew, who most recently starred in FX's Say Nothing have been cast as series regulars in Netflix’s Assassin’s Creed series. Sources tell Deadline that Disney is in early development on a film centered on the Beauty and the Beast character Gaston. Dave Callaham is writing the script with Michelle Rejwan producing. No director is attached at this time. Universal has pulled M3GAN spinoff SOULM8TE from the release calendar, and the film is expected to be shopped to other studios. The film was originally set to release on Jan. 8, 2026. Universal has released the first trailer for Steven Spielberg's upcoming alien invasion film titled Disclosure Day, which stars Emily Blunt and Josh O'Connor. The film is set to open on June 12 of next year. Jacobi Jupe, currently starring in one of this award season’s top contenders, Hamnet, will star opposite Scarlet Johansson in Blumhouse and Universal’s latest take on The Exorcist.

Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universes The potential sale of Warner Bros Discovery has been a hot topic in recent weeks, but no one could have predicted the escalation and heightened stakes the bidding war has reached as Paramount CEO David Ellison announced a hostile takeover bid to the tune of $108.4 billion in response to what he described as Netflix’s inferior $82.7 billion deal; a deal that seemed like an all but assured thing just days ago.  It’s been an uncharacteristically long time since James Gunn has given us a headline, but we may still be a day late and dollar short, as on Sunday the DC Studios head released a 10 second first look at Supergirl via social media, with the promise of the teaser trailer later in the week; which many have speculated to mean Thursday… Thanks, James! Also concerning DC: Four years after leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe behind, Scarlett Johansson seems headed for Gotham City, with the actress in final negotiations to join The Batman Part II. Details about Johansson's potential role are being closely guarded, though speculation has already run rampant about which iconic Batman character she might portray, though being a new love interest for Bruce Wayne in some capacity is a popular guess in the wake of unconfirmed reports that Zoe Kravitz might not reprise her role in the sequel. More than seven years after its original theatrical run, Marvel Studios is bringing Avengers: Endgame, the second-highest-grossing film of all time, back to theaters September 25, 2026 just months before Avengers: Doomsday later that December. While it's still unknown how long the Russos Brothers’ last MCU contribution will be back to the big screen, the placement between the releases of Spider-Man: Brand New Day in July and Doomsday in December, has fueled industry insider speculation suggesting the new Avengers film will act as a direct sequel to Endgame rather than closely following the events of Phases 4 through 6. HBO has revealed that the third season of Euphoria will begin streaming in April of 2026. This comes more than four years after Season 2 finished in February 2022. Hulu has renewed the Glen Powell led sports comedy series Chad Powers for a second season. 20th Century Studios announced The Simpsons Movie 2 has been delayed from July 23, 2027 to September 3, 2027.  Paramount and Blumhouse are reviving the Paranormal Activity franchise and bringing on James Wan to produce a new feature film in the franchise according to the Hollywood Reporter.  Variety and CNN have revealed the star-studded lineup for the 23rd season of Actors on Actors. Some of the participants include Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Dwayne Johnson, Julia Roberts, and Ariana Grande.  Sony Pictures has tapped Bad Boys For Life writer Chris Bremner to pen a new Men In Black film. Although plot details are not public, sources tell Deadline that when the script is complete, original series star Will Smith will be the first to read it in hopes that he will return to the franchise in some capacity.  Prime Video has released the first trailer for the final season of The Boys. The show has an updated release date of April 8, 2026, which will see the release of two episodes. Episodes will then drop weekly, leading to the series finale on May 20th.  Five Nights at Freddy's 2 opened to $109 million dollars worldwide over the weekend, a strong opening for the franchise. Additionally, last weekend's champion Zootopia 2 is nearing the one billion dollar mark with  $915 million dollars worldwide so far.  Sigourney Weaver is in talks to join the upcoming Tomb Raider series for Prime Video. Sophie Turner is set to star as Lara Croft, with Phoebe Waller-Bridge on as writer and executive producer.

Disney’s sequel sensation continues at the box office, as Zootopia 2 broke records this last weekend when it opened to the highest global box office for an animated film of ALL TIME with $556 million. Other global and domestic records were exceeded and the film paired up with its studio sibling Moana 2, which has the highest Thanksgiving opening of all time and now Zootopia 2 has the second. Wicked: For Good is standing strong at second place in domestic theaters and Now You See Me: Now You Don’t is trailing well behind it at third. It’s a feather light news week, so we’re going to talk about some of the most anticipated movies coming out next year and the ones we’re really looking forward to!  Paramount has announced that the untitled hybrid live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles feature from producer Neal H. Moritz will hit theaters Nov. 17, 2028. Additionally, an untitled film in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise is set for theatrical release on Dec. 22, 2028. Prime Video’s series adaptation of the popular God Of War video game has added Emmy-winning director Frederick E.O. Toye who has worked on Shōgun and The Boys to direct the first two episodes of the action-adventure series from Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios. He joins Ronald D. Moore, the series’ showrunner, writer and executive producer. The series has also received a two season order and early casting has begun. Justin Lin, best known for his work on the Fast and Furious action movies, is set to direct Sony Pictures’ and PlayStation Productions’ adaptation of Helldivers, based on the popular video game franchise from Arrowhead Game Studios.

When Wicked: Part One released this time last year, it broke a slew of records for a Hollywood adaptation of a Broadway Show, as well for its talent behind and in front of the camera. Now Wicked: For Good has finally arrived on the scene and with a $150 million domestic, and $226 million global opening weekend, it has broken nearly every record its predecessor established, including Best Global and Domestic Opening for a Movie Based on a Broadway Show, as well as for stars Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo and director Jon M. Chu. It’s no surprise with numbers like these that Universal Pictures is already “underway” with ways to continue the franchise on the screen, according to the studio’s chief marketing executive, Michael Moses. Scarlett Johansson will star in Mike Flanagan’s upcoming adaptation of The Exorcist. Backed by Universal and Blumhouse, Flanagan’s film is said to be in the universe of The Exorcist, but is not a remake or sequel according to the director. Flanagan’s take on the story was greenlit last year, more than 50 years after the original film came out in 1973. Wolverines never say die…at least that’s the takeaway from Hugh Jackman’s comments recently on the Graham Norton show. When asked about his time as the iconic X-Men character, Jackman replied “Maybe. I’m never saying never again…” and went on to elaborate about having declared he wouldn’t play Logan until the Deadpool & Wolverine opportunity came about. Amazon is officially moving forward with a new Stargate TV series from producer Martin Gero, who began his career in the original franchise. The project continues the legacy that started with the 1994 film starring James Spader and Kurt Russell and expanded through Stargate SG-1 and multiple spinoffs. HBO has renewed several HBOMAX series for second seasons including crime drama Task and comedies I Love LA and The Chair Company as well as House of the Dragon for a 4th season and Knight of the Seven Kingdoms for a 2nd season. Paramount, Comcast and Netflix have submitted bids to acquire all or part of Warner Bros. Discovery and a sale decision is expected to be made before Christmas, although regulators would most likely take at least a year to approve the sale. Per an exclusive from The Hollywood Reporter exclusive, we’ve learned that Paramount is actively in talks with veteran producer Neal H. Morris, whose claims to fame include the Fast & The Furious and Sonic The Hedgehog film franchises, to kickstart a new live action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film franchise. Sony Pictures has made one of the biggest book acquisitions of 2025, landing film adaptation rights to James Islington’s Hierarchy series. The move comes as the book series’ second installment, The Strength of the Few, debuts at No. 1 on the New York Times best-seller list following its Nov. 11 U.S. release. A24 has dropped the first trailer for How To Make A Killing, which stars Glen Powell and Margaret Qualley. The film debuts in theaters on Feb. 20th. Eva Green has been cast as Aunt Ophelia in season 3 of Netflix's Wednesday, a character that was teased at the end of season 2. FX will adapt Ubisoft's video game series Far Cry into an anthology series, Variety has learned. Noah Hawley and Rob Mac will create the series and Mac will also star. Barbara Broccoli‘s Eon Productions, the former producer of the James Bond franchise, and Qatar’s newly launched Film Committee are jointly producing a film adaptation of William Shakespeare’s “Othello,” directed and starring David Oyelowo, and also featuring Rachel Brosnahan and Cynthia Erivo. Toby Wallace has been cast in a lead role in Netflix‘s upcoming “Assassin’s Creed” TV series.

This is exciting news for us MCU fans, as work on the third Black Panther film has been mostly quiet other than Denzel Washington’s confirmed slip up that he is in the movie. A new Star Trek movie is being created under the writing and direction of John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, the duo behind Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves and Game Night as well as the recently wrapped Apple film Mayday, starring Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh. With the last feature film being Star Trek Beyond in 2016, there’s been little movement on both the Chris Pine-led series and new takes on the universe, but this new film will move forward unconnected to anything done previously. Glen Powell in The Running Man was a favored first place winner at the box office this weekend, but was ousted by the sleight of hand of Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, the third movie in that franchise. Now You See Me racked up a global $75 million opening, while The Running Man limped across the finish line at $28 million. This marks Powell’s first big box office miss, when compared to openings for Twisters, Top Gun: Maverick, and Anybody But You, but the action film did have to compete against Predator: Badlands, which is holding strong at the box office still. Nintendo and Illumination have released the first trailer for Super Mario Galaxy, the follow up to 2023's hit The Super Mario Brothers Movie. The film will hit theaters on April 3rd, 2026. The trailer reveals some new characters and cast members including Bowser Jr. who will be voiced by Benny Safdie and Rosalina who will be voiced by Brie Larson. Amazon Prime has released a new, extended trailer for “Fallout” Season 2. The season begins streaming on December 17. 20th Century Studios has released a very short teaser trailer for The Devil Wears Prada 2, the follow up to the 2006 fashion comedy that starred Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, who are reprising their roles for the sequel. The film opens on May 1, 2026. Apple TV has set Friday, February 27 for the Season 2 premiere of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters and has dropped a first trailer. The 10-episode second season will premiere globally on Feb. 27 with the first episode, followed by one episode every Friday until May 1. Disney has released the first trailer for the live action adaptation of Moana which hits theaters on July 10, 2026. According to Deadline, Sadie Sink will appear in Avengers: Secret Wars following her appearance in Spider-Man Brand New Day. Hideo Kojima‘s groundbreaking video game franchise Death Stranding is set to expand with an all-new animated series that’s heading to Disney+. The show, which is titled Death Stranding Isolations is expected to debut sometime in 2027. Peacock has decided not to renew Poker Face for a third season. Natasha Lyonne exits as star, but series creator Rian Johnson has begun an effort to shop the show to other broadcasters for a two-season commitment and has cast Peter Dinklage to take over the role of Charlie Cale from Natasha Lyonne. Sony Pictures has picked up the rights to the Chinese doll brand Labubu with the intent to launch a franchise based on the dolls in the near future. Nintendo's live action Legend of Zelda movie has begun production and Nintendo social media accounts posted first look images earlier this week of Link and Zelda, the film's main characters. The film is currently set for release in May of 2027. Peacock has renewed Twisted Metal for a third season, with David Reed taking over as showrunner and executive producer following Michael Jonathan Smith’s exit. Reed has previously been a producer on series like Supernatural and The Boys.

Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universes Though Disney and Marvel Studios have remained tight-lipped and cagey concerning details around the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, the Internet, and a few reputable trades, have collectively discerned that we apparently “know when the Avengers: Doomsday trailer is coming.” The prognosticators have deytermined the trailer will be attached to December’s Avatar: Fire & Ash – big news, if true! Another unconfirmed, but believable rumor that has taken the Internet by storm concerns Marvel TV’s Wonder Man series and its episode run times, which places the longest episode at 34 minutes and the shortest at 23 including credits.  Per The Hollywood Reporter, DC Studios has greenlit a Superman spinoff series focusing on standout Skyler Gisondo’s Jimmy Olsen and coming to us from Dan Perrault and Tony Yacenda, the creators of Netflix’s award-winning mockumentary American Vandal. The series is said to focus on Olsen and other Daily Planet reporters, (though Lois Lane and Clark Kent were conspicuously excluded,) as he tackles cases involving superpowered villains, with Season One featuring Flash rogue Gorilla Grodd as a big bad.  Predator Badlands was the apex, ahem, predator at the box office last weekend debuting to $40 million domestically and doubling the haul internationally at $80 million worldwide. The film outperformed expectations, representing a much-needed shot of adrenaline in what has been a lethargic Fall box office, while also putting up bests for the franchise; beating out 2004’s Alien Vs Predator and 2018’s The Predator in the domestic and global arenas, respectively. Blue Beetle and Cobra Kai star Xolo Maridueña has been cast in season 3 of Netflix's One Piece and will play the character Portgas D. Ace. Jennifer Lawrence recently revealed that she and Emma Stone are developing a movie about the iconic Muppet Miss Piggy with Oh, Mary! writer and Tony winner Cole Escola penning the script, marking the character’s first solo outing siynce Jim Henson debuted her on The Muppet Show in 1976. Netflix and Sony have finalized a deal for another “KPop Demon Hunters” movie, with plans to release the animated musical sequel in 2029. Lionsgate has released the first trailer for Michael Jackson biopic 'Michael' starring Jaafar Jackson, the nephew of the late pop icon. The film from director Antoine Fuqua is set to hit theaters on April 24, 2026, after its release was delayed several times. Prime Video announced that season two of The Night Manager, starring Tom Hiddleston, will premiere on January 11. The second season comes back to Prime ten years after the first season debuted.  Warner Brothers has set a release date for the next film in The Gremlins franchise of November 19th 2027. Steven Spielberg is returning to executive produce “Gremlins 3” while “Harry Potter” filmmaker Chris Columbus is set to direct and produce.  Disney has released the first official trailer for season 2 of Percy Jackson and The Olympians, which begins streaming on December 10th.  In gaming news, Skydance Games is once again pushing the release for the much-anticipated “Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra” video game from May 2026 to November 2026. Rockstar Games also announced that they would be delaying Grand Theft Auto 6 once again, this time from May 2026 to November 2026 as well.  Ryan Reynolds and Amazon MGM have teamed up to develop a remake of Thunderbolt & Lightfoot, a 1974 action comedy that starred Clint Eastwood and Jeff Bridges. Reynolds is eyeing to star in the adaptation and is also collaborating on the script with writers Enzo Mileti and Scott Wilson, a writing team who worked on season four of comedic crime show Fargo. Shane Reid, who edited Reynolds’ Deadpool & Wolverine, will make his directorial debut with the project. 

The battle for Warner Bros. Discovery is seeing a new champion enter the ring, with Netflix making some moves to put their own bid in for the studio’s properties. According to Reuters, the streaming pioneer engaged with investment bank Moelis & Co. in order to prepare an offer. Ironically, this is the same bank that worked with David Ellison at Skydance to take over Paramount whose first bid to buy Warner Bros. Discovery was rejected.  It was the worst weekend at the box office this year, with ticket sales coming in at just $52.4 million. This also makes it the lowest-grossing Halloween weekend in 31 years, excluding theater closures due to COVID in 2020. While new film Regretting You took in a respectable $50 million, Black Phone 2 really has the crown from the weekend having now brought in $104 million globally - another huge win for horror this year. Yorgos Lanthimos’ new film Bugonia, starring Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons, is sitting at a small $11.1 million globally after breaking into more theaters. Both Scream 7 and Stranger Things Season 5 released trailers recently. Stranger Things’ official trailer showed us a bit more of what to expect from that property and Scream 7, which releases on February 27, 2026, gave us a glance at the returning original cast members of Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Matthew Lillard, and David Arquette. As we discussed last week, Stranger Things will release in three parts on holiday weekends, four episodes on November 26, three episodes on Christmas Day, and the finale on New Year’s Eve. A 'Conjuring' prequel film is in development at Warner Bros. and New Line, with short film director Rodrigue Huart in talks to direct. Franchise veterans Richard Naing and Ian Goldberg, who co-wrote the two prior “Conjuring” films, 2023’s “The Nun II” and this September’s “The Conjuring: Last Rites,” are on board to pen the screenplay. After landing the rights to turn one of the world’s biggest video games into an epic movie, Paramount has now landed two A-list filmmakers to develop it. Sources tell Deadline that Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan and Peter Berg have joined Paramount and Activision to develop and produce a Call of Duty movie, with Paramount distributing a live-action feature film. Hulu has ordered two more seasons of the revived King of the Hill animated series, the 16th and 17th overall and third and fourth seasons as a streaming original. Season 14 premiered in August and is the first half of Hulu’s initial two-season, 20-episode order; season 15 is set to debut in 2026. Sam Mendes' four Beatles films have filled out the cast by adding the spouses of the four band members. Saoirse Ronan will play Linda McCartney, Anna Sawai will play Yoko Ono, Aimee Lou Wood will play Pattie Boyd, and Mia McKenna-Bruce will play Maureen Starkey. Ariana Grande has joined the cast of season 13 of American Horror Story, which is currently on track to debut around Halloween 2026. Toho has officially revealed the title of its next “Godzilla” feature that will serve as a sequel to Godzilla: Minus One as “Godzilla -0.0” (Godzilla Minus Zero). The film will once again be written, directed and produced by the same team behind 2023’s “Godzilla Minus One.” Currently, there are no plot details, but the studio is currently targeting a release date in late 2026. Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are going back to the desert for The Mummy 4. The film will be directed by the duo known as Radio Silence, composed of Martin Bettinelli-Opin and Tyler Gillett, who directed 2019’s Ready or Not.
