Description

Hey there — I’m Steve Campbell. I’m a husband, dad to four amazing kids, follower of Jesus, and someone who wakes up every day wanting to help people live with more clarity, courage, and purpose. Life has taught me that faith isn’t just something you talk about — it’s something you live, wrestle with, and anchor everything to. My relationship with Jesus shapes how I love my family, how I lead, how I speak, and how I show up for others. Every podcast, conversation, and connection I make starts there — from a place of grace, humility, and hope. My Heart Behind The One Big Thing I started The One Big Thing podcast because I believe each of us is created on purpose and for a purpose. We all carry something unique that can make a difference — not someday, but right now. Through the stories, lessons, and conversations on the podcast, my prayer is that you’ll discover the spark God placed in you and feel encouraged to take your next faithful step. I don’t have all the answers — but I’ve learned that when you stay close to Jesus, stay curious, and keep moving forward, amazing things can unfold.

How God Turns Waiting into Winning - with Kristen Campbell
2026/10/17
Rereleasing this episode as it fits the new format. In this powerful and deeply personal episode, I had the opportunity to reconnect with a longtime friend, Kristen Campbell - a collegiate volleyball player turned mentor, nonprofit leader, and now founder of her own business. Kristen opens up about the highs and lows of her journey: from feeling on top of the world in her career, to walking through the heartbreak of infertility and burnout, and ultimately taking a bold leap of faith into entrepreneurship. Kristen shares how her unshakable faith and gift of encouragement have guided her through seasons of waiting, disappointment, and transformation. Her "One Big Thing"? Keep moving forward—no matter where you are or what you're facing. This episode isn't about having it all figured out—it's about embracing the process, showing up with palms-up obedience, and trusting that God will either fulfill the desire in your heart or lovingly replace it with something better. Kristen’s story will resonate with anyone navigating change, wrestling with uncertainty, or seeking clarity in chaos. Whether you're a parent, a spouse, a professional in transition, or someone sitting in a quiet moment wondering what now?—This conversation is for you. Key Takeaways: Why moving forward doesn’t always mean moving fastHow to listen for God's voice in the stillness and discomfortJournaling and prayer as tools for discernment and surrenderRedefining success through seasons of waiting and transformationThe power of community, encouragement, and spiritual alignment ____________________________________________ Join my YouTube Community of over 40k subscribers where you can watch all my episodes at https://www.youtube.com/@stevecampbellpr Thanks to one of my show sponsors! 💪🏼 Are you looking to get in the best shape of your life? What It Truly Means to Be One with Jesus — with Neil Broere
2026/09/06
In this episode of The One Big Thing, I sit down with Neil Broere — pastor, writer, Bible teacher, and former missionary to Iraq — for one of the most profound conversations we’ve had on this show. Neil shares what Jesus has been teaching him in this season: union with Christ. We talk about what it really means to be in Him — not just saved by Him, not just working for Him, but living from a place of oneness where everything else flows downstream. This conversation moves deep into obedience, suffering, faith, and what it looks like to trust God even when prayers feel unanswered. Neil opens up about life on the mission field, raising a family in difficult environments, and how suffering becomes a gateway to intimacy with God rather than a sign of His absence. We wrestle honestly with hard questions: What happens when God doesn’t move the way we expect? How do we hold faith when the miracle doesn’t come? And how does suffering actually shape us into people who can carry the weight of God’s glory? If you’re in a season of uncertainty, pain, transition, or deep questioning — this episode is for you. It’s a reminder that God is still good, Jesus is still present, and your suffering is never wasted. Listen in and be encouraged — even if He doesn’t, He is still faithful. And He is still with you. _________________________________ Neil Broere is a teaching pastor at Radiant Central Coast in California, an author, and the Global Director of Becoming Love Ministries, where he helps pioneer gospel-centered initiatives around the world. Before relocating to California in 2022, Neil and his wife, Lindsey, served as missionaries in Iraq for six years alongside their four children. That season deeply shaped their faith and reinforced their conviction that Jesus is exactly who He says He is — and that a life of obedience can radically transform individuals and families. Neil is the author of Obedience, Suffering, & Reward, which reached #1 on Amazon’s Ecclesiology list and continues to rank among the top titles in the category. His upcoming book, LIMINAL: The Delicate Space Between Breaths, is scheduled for release in Spring 2026. Through his weekly devotional Between Sundays, Neil shares reflections drawn from Scripture and life experience, focusing on themes such as identity in Christ, the power of the gospel, God’s design for the church, the kingdom of God, suffering and wilderness seasons, and the beauty of communion. _________________________________ Join my YouTube Community of over 42k subscribers where you can watch all my episodes at https://www.youtube.com/@stevecampbellpr Thanks to one of my show sponsors! 💪🏼 Are you looking to get in the best shape of your life? 2026/05/13
In this episode, I’m joined by Justin Buonomo, the owner and creator of Journey to Financial Freedom (JFF)—but what we get into goes way beyond money. After coming off one of the hardest and most refining seasons of my life, this conversation hit deep. Justin and I unpack what it really looks like to follow Jesus when things don’t make sense—when suffering shows up, when prayers feel unanswered, and when you’re forced to confront the parts of your heart you’d rather ignore. We talk about: The role of suffering as God’s refining processHow sin and shame quietly hold you back from who you’re called to beWhy many believers misunderstand God’s heart—especially around money and worthinessWhat it actually looks like to walk in freedom, not just talk about itAnd the one big thing Justin is learning right now: how to break free from shame by fully accepting what happened on the cross This isn’t a surface-level conversation. Waiting on God’s Timing: My Story of Faith, Provision & Trust in Hard Seasons | Steve Campbell
2026/04/29
This brand new episode is a little different. It's been three months since I've recorded an episode and I felt the need to share my story and what God's done. There’s no guest joining me today—just me, speaking directly to you from the heart. Over the last few months, my family and I walked through one of the hardest and most humbling seasons of our lives. After stepping away from a career I thought would be my long-term security, I found myself in a place of uncertainty, no paycheck, closed doors, and more questions than answers. What followed was a season where God taught me how to truly wait on Him… not just say I trusted Him, but actually trust Him when I couldn’t see the outcome. He stripped away pride, fear, identity in work, and the need to control everything—and showed me what real provision looks like. In this episode, I’m opening up about the internal battles I faced, the moments I wanted to quit, and the unexpected ways God showed up for our family right on time. I’m also sharing how this season changed my faith, my perspective, and my understanding of what it means to surrender. If you’re in a waiting season right now… if doors have closed… if life feels uncertain… I hope my story reminds you that God has not forgotten you. My One Big Thing: Sometimes God delays what we want so He can develop who we’re becoming. 🎙️ In this episode, I share: What happened when I stepped away from my careerThe struggle of waiting when nothing makes senseHow God provided in ways I never expectedWhy suffering can produce deeper faithLetting go of control and trusting God’s timingWhat I learned about identity beyond success This is one of the most personal episodes I’ve ever recorded, and I’m grateful you’re here to listen. ________________________________________ Join my YouTube Community of subscribers where you can watch all my episodes at https://www.youtube.com/@stevecampbellpr Thanks to one of my show sponsors! 💪🏼 Are you looking to get in the best shape of your life? What Jesus Is Teaching Us Through Suffering — with Jake Kauffman
2026/04/15
This episode marks a brand-new chapter for The One Big Thing. From here on out, every conversation will center on faith — on what Jesus is teaching us in this season of life. I couldn’t think of a better person to start this new direction with than my friend Jake Kauffman. Jake and I go deep on something that every believer eventually faces: the role of suffering and dependence in our walk with Jesus. We talk about what it means to trust God when life unravels, why true transformation often comes through pain, and how the wilderness seasons of life can actually draw us closer to Him. You’ll hear Jake share his story of loss, healing, and renewal — and how God met him in the middle of it. We explore what spiritual maturity really looks like, the beauty of surrender, and why God’s favor often shows up in ways we don’t expect. If you’re walking through a hard season or wondering where God is in the middle of your struggle, I want you to know — you’re not alone. God’s not done with you. Your story is still being written. Listen in and be encouraged — Jesus is at work in your life too. __________________________________________ Join my YouTube Community of over 37k subscribers where you can watch all my episodes at https://www.youtube.com/@stevecampbellpr Thanks to one of my show sponsors! 💪🏼 Are you looking to get in the best shape of your life? Justin Masterson on Emotional Maturity, Leadership, and Living with Intention
2026/03/11
In this episode of The One Big Thing, I had the privilege of sitting down with former MLB pitcher and current high school coach Justin Masterson. You might know him from his days on the mound with the Red Sox, but what really struck me in our conversation was his heart for people and his deep insights on emotional maturity. We talked about what it means to grow—not just as a leader or athlete, but as a human being. Justin shared how his definition of maturity has evolved into the ability to handle emotions well, especially in the face of hardship. Whether he's coaching teenagers, navigating marriage, or serving in his community, he’s learned that staying relational and grounded is key. In this episode, we dive into: The emotional weight athletes carry behind the scenesHow to lead with empathy and humility in high-pressure environmentsPractical tools like the “CAKE” acronym and quieting techniques to regulate emotionsWhy identity and belonging are essential for real transformationHonest stories of failure, forgiveness, and fatherhood I even share a personal story about a moment I blew it as a dad—and what it taught me about grace, humility, and the power of saying “I’m sorry.” If you’re someone who wants to grow in emotional intelligence, lead with more compassion, or just be a better version of yourself, this episode is for you. We’re not aiming for perfection—just progress. _________________________________ About Justin Masterson Justin Masterson is a former Major League Baseball pitcher who spent eight seasons in the big leagues with the Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Guardians (formerly Indians), and St. Louis Cardinals. Known for his resilience and leadership on the mound, he made history as the youngest Red Sox pitcher since Babe Ruth to win a playoff game and was selected as an All-Star in 2013. His career highlights include pitching an immaculate inning and recording four strikeouts in a single inning. After retiring from professional baseball in 2017 to prioritize family, Justin transitioned into a life of service and mentorship. He now coaches varsity baseball at Fishers High School in Indiana, where he also helps develop athletes’ mental skills through programs like “Awaken the Tiger” and “Eye of the Tiger.” He’s a substitute teacher, motivational speaker, and host of The Justin Masterson Show podcast. Justin and his wife founded the Fortress Foundation in 2013 to support individuals in need, and they continue to work with organizations like PHARE Warrior and Wayfinders. Above all, Justin is passionate about helping others grow in emotional maturity—defined as the ability to stay relational and grounded in the face of life’s biggest challenges. _________________________________ Listen to the One Big Thing on your favorite platform at https://pod.link/1689287620 You can watch all episodes on my YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/@stevecampbellpr ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I'd also love for you to subscribe to this podcast and leave a rating and review.
