Neil deGrasse Tyson Answers Katee's Questions About the Universe
2025/12/23
Hi Everyone! What better way to celebrate the holidays than having a conversation about space? If you love science— or if you're like me and you find it overwhelming— you're going to really enjoy this episode! Neil deGrasse Tyson has made a career out of teaching everyday people about the extraordinary true story of the universe. He has a new book out called Just Visiting This Planet, Revised and Updated for the Twenty-First Century: Further Scientific Adventures of Merlin from Omniscia, which I read and loved. In the book, Tyson plays a slightly snarky, all-knowing character named Merlin, who answers your big, nerdy science questions. He is also co-host of the StarTalk Podcast and regularly weighs in on the science (or sketchy science) of your favorite show. It was an honor and a delight to talk with Dr. Tyson and I have to say that as someone who has always been intimidated by science, he actually did make it accessible and fun! Todd Stashwick Talks Star Trek: Picard, VisionQuest, 12 Monkeys, D&D and More
2025/12/16
Happy Tuesday and Happy Holidays, Everyone! If anyone can convince me to join their Dungeons & Dragons campaign, it's Todd Stashwick. If you don't know Todd, he plays Deacon on 12 Monkeys and Captain Liam Shaw on Star Trek: Picard, among many other roles. He is also playing Palladin in the upcoming VisionQuest from creator Terry Matalas. Todd is a brilliant actor and a true nerd and we have so much fun in this conversation. We talk about how he got from doing comedy at Second City to playing killers on TV. We get into what it was like growing up as a nerd and the pinch-me experience of the moment he joined the Star Trek universe in Star Trek: Picard. Plus, we tease VisionQuest and Carrie and talk about our shared love of the great Matthew Lillard. Katee Catches Up With Her TV Husband Michael Trucco
2025/12/09
Hi everyone, happy Tuesday! You didn't think I could keep Michael Trucco away for long, did you? The last time I had Michael on the show, it was audio-only, so if you've been dying to see his beautiful face, today's your lucky day! I first met Michael on Battlestar where he played Samuel T. Anders, but we have stayed close over the years. As an actor, he has been on a role recently— you may have seen him as Sean Del Monte in The Rookie, Luke Leone on Fire Country, or in one of Mike Flanagan's recent projects, from Life of Chuck, to Fall of the House of Usher, to Midnight Mass. Why is Michael Trucco in all of these amazing projects, and many many more? Because he's the BEST and literally everyone wants to work with him! We have so much fun catching up in this episode. We swap Battlestar stories, we talk about how he stays positive through the ups and downs of a long career, and we even get into some questions from you, the audience. If you want more Trucco, check out the Hindsight over on Patreon! Skeet Ulrich on Scream, Riverdale and Five Nights At Freddy's 2
2025/12/02
Happy Tuesday! I have been looking forward to interviewing this week's guest for a long time and I am so happy we were finally able to get him on the show. This week I'm talking with none other than Skeet Ulrich! I have been a fan of Skeet's work since he played Billy Loomis in Scream and Chris Hooker in The Craft. You may also know him from Riverdale, where he played FP Jones, or from roles in As Good As It Gets, Jericho, Law & Order: LA and many others. He is one of those actors that is able to make you absolutely fall in love with his characters, even ones that are twisted or a little out there! I really enjoyed getting to know Skeet a little better. In addition to his love of acting, we also talk about his other life as a carpenter and the insights he has from raising twins as a single dad. Lastly, we have so much fun talking about the new Five Nights At Freddy's movie and the raucous panels Skeet has been doing at conventions with his co-star Matthew Lillard. As always, if you want to hear more about the interview or catch the latest updates on my life, head over to our Patreon for an extended Hindsight with my producer Jeph! Hey everyone! This week's episode is a repost of a live episode we did over on my Patreon. I was recently told I HAD to watch the new documentary The Age of Disclosure all about UFOs and UAPs, so I thought I'd grab the two middle-aged men I know that will always talk to me about aliens, my producer Jeph Porter and my friend Kristian Harloff. So if you want to know my thoughts on the film, check this one out. Jeph and I also do a little AMA at the end. Ernie Hudson Knew Ghostbusters Was Something Special
2025/11/18
Hi everyone, Happy Tuesday! This year, I dressed up as the Marshmallow Man for Halloween, so it's only fitting that I have Ernie Hudson on the show this week! Ernie famously played Winston Zeddmore in Ghostbusters. He has also appeared in many, many other projects, including films like The Crow, Airheads and Miss Congeniality and on TV on Oz, Grace and Frankie, LA's Finest and most recently as L. C. Duncan in The Family Business. It was such an honor to sit down with Ernie and we immediately got along. We talk about his childhood and the emotional moment last year when the street he grew up on was renamed in his honor. We also get into the inner strength he's developed riding the highs and lows of an almost 60 year (!) career in show business. There is so much we can all learn from Ernie and I hope you get as much out of this conversation as I did. If you want to hear more about Ernie and get updates on my own life, be sure to check out the Hindsight for this episode over on Patreon! It's a special Tuesday this week! Show favorite Paul Sun-Hyung Lee joins the show as Katee reveals his brand-new Carson Teva action figure. Plus, Katee gets the updates from Paul about the new season of Avatar: The Last Airbender and Paul shares his contribution to the design of the patches on Carson Teva's bomber jacket. Stick around for an AMA with Paul and Katee, with questions about the 501st, cosplay, Stephen King and who would (and wouldn't) play a vampire. James Callis Talks Battlestar, Gaius Baltar and Why Playing Bad Guys is Fun
2025/11/04
Happy Tuesday, Everyone! I can't believe it's taken this long, but this week I am finally talking to my friend and Battlestar legend James Callis! On Battlestar, James played Dr. Gaius Baltar. He is also known for playing best friend Tom in the Bridget Jones' Diary movies, as well as appearances in Star Trek: Picard, 12 Monkeys, Arrow and most recently as Claude Whelan in Slow Horses. James was an intimidating person for me to interview — he's so smart about acting (and about everything else) and he plays a really good bad guy— but in this conversation, you get to see his goofy side and his tender side too. James is an incredible dad and I loved getting to talk to him about how fatherhood helps him keep the nonsense of life on set in perspective. He has also worked with some of the greatest actors of all time and we discuss what traits Gary Oldman, Kristin Scott Thomas, Peter O'Toole and Omar Sharif all have in common. I thoroughly enjoyed this conversation and I'm so happy I got to see James in person! Enjoy the episode and check out our Patreon for an extended hindsight where my producer Jeph and I discuss James and all things Battlestar in more detail. Katee Watched Oculus for the First Time in Over a Decade
2025/10/28
Hi everyone, this week we have a Halloween surprise for you! My producer Jeph and I are rewatching Mike Flanagan's 2013 horror film Oculus, which I starred in. Grab some popcorn and candy and get ready for some southern gothic scares. I haven't seen this movie in over a decade, so it was a lot of fun to sit down and try to remember what happened. Jeph had never seen it, so he was coming in blind! For this audio companion, Jeph and I introduce the movie and talk through some behind the scenes stories about the rest of the cast, which included Karen Gillan, Brenton Thwaites, Kate Siegel and Rory Cochrane. We also get into the stunts and effects, how the film found success at the box office and how to act possessed in a dress! Robert Englund on Becoming the Stuff of Nightmares
2025/10/21
Happy Spooky Season, Everyone! As many of you know, scary movies freak me out. But that doesn't mean I don't love today's guest! Today I'm talking to a horror icon— Freddy himself, Robert Englund! Robert is beloved for his performance as Freddy Krueger in A Nightmare on Elm Street and its many sequels. He has also had an illustrious career outside of Wes Craven's franchise, appearing in hundreds of films and TV shows, including a recent appearance as Victor Creel in Stranger Things. On Halloween of this year, he will be immortalized with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and it could not be going to a sweeter, more generous person. Robert is a joy to talk with and I'm so honored he took the time to chat with me. We have gotten to know each other over years at conventions and we have a great conversation about what it's like to be associated with an iconic role, his warm relationship with horror fans and how he used his experience on-set to inform his performance as Freddy. I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did— and Happy Halloween! Hi Everyone, Happy Tuesday! Thank you so much for being here. Today I'm talking to the ultimate multi-hyphenate creator Alanah Pearce. Alanah is an actor, a producer, a content creator and a former journalist and she is best-known as a video game writer and developer. She is a highly-respected voice in the role of games and has worked on some of the biggest games of the last 10 years, including God of War Ragnarök. Madelaine Petsch on Her Journey From Riverdale Teen to Scream Queen
2025/10/07
Happy Tuesday, Everyone! I'm so happy to be talking with today's guest— the fabulous Madelaine Petsch! Madelaine played Cheryl Blossom on Riverdale and she is currently starring as Maya in The Strangers: Ch 2, reprising her role from The Strangers: Ch 1. She will also be seen as Charlie in Maintenance Required, which will be available globally on Prime Video October 8th! It was such a pleasure to get to know Madelaine a little bit better! We actually have a lot in common— we talk about growing up in the Pacific Northwest and getting involved with acting at a young age. We also discuss what it was like to be media-trained as a CW actor and how she is transitioning into producing more original work. I watched The Strangers: Ch 2 on the airplane and I'm NOT sure I recommend that experience (it was terrifying and I'm not a big horror person, especially in a confined space!). But the film is great and I hope you all check it out! Scene Stealer Steven Ogg on Grand Theft Auto, Walking Dead, Snowpiercer and More
2025/09/30
Hi Everyone, Happy Tuesday! Today's guest is none other than Steven Ogg. Steven has created a niche playing characters that are a little (or a LOT) unhinged. He is best known for playing Trevor in Grand Theft Auto. He played Simon in Walking Dead, Pike in Snowpiercer, Rebus on Westworld, Sobchak on Better Caul Saul and many, many others. People see Steven and they think— whoa, this guy's a little crazy. But the truth is, he is also a super sensitive artist and a real actor's actor. I had so much fun getting into the weeds and sharing stories about working with directors and his philosophy of how to stick around as an actor when a show is being written week to week. Steven is a total character and it was such a pleasure to get to know him a little bit better! Be sure to stick around this week for the Hindsight, where my producer Jeph and I talk about the conversation with Steven and our love (okay, Jeph's love) of Grand Theft Auto. Jon Heder Talks Napoleon Dynamite, Chapstick, Disco and Life as a "Weirdo" Icon
2025/09/23
Hi Everyone, hope you're having a wonderful Tuesday! This week's guest is my Pacific Northwest buddy and star of Napoleon Dynamite, Jon Heder! If you haven't seen Napoleon Dynamite (I don't know how that's possible), please go out and watch it RIGHT NOW and then come back for this interview. It was so much fun to chat with Jon and hear the story behind how he created such an iconic character. We talk about where he learned to dance, how he and the director transformed the story from a student film into a massive hit and what it was like managing such an insane level of overnight fame. It's been quite awhile since that movie came out and the truth is, Jon is so much more than that character. He is a dad, he's a big outdoors guy and he's still a phenomenal actor! He is starring in the new film Waltzing With Brando, alongside Billy Zane, and we talk about his experience learning more about Marlon Brando, shooting in Tahiti and his personal policy on nudity on camera. This is exactly the conversation you'd expect from a guy like Jon— it's absurd, goofy and earnest all at the same time. Be sure to stick around for the Hindsight, where my producer Jeph and I talk about the interview over a bowl of tots! Just kidding, I wish… Send me an email [email protected] Produced by Rabbit Grin Productions Mail Sack Song by Nicolas @producer_sniffles Join us on Patreon! http://patreon.com/thesackhoffshow ----------------------------------------------------- Support our Sponsors: New EveryPlate customers can enjoy a special offer of only $1.99 a meal.
